Some weapons have a cross perk function which means that the weapon can be used by multiple classes with the advantages of that class.

Hey [Insert Name Here]. I know you are retired from the game and don't respond here, but in case you still read, here's the situation.

There's a project in KF2 called "Tamari's" servers. They are maintained by a player called "Tamari". These are heavily modded servers. Some of the code for them is developed proprietarily by Forrest Mark X, who is a well-known KF2 modder. He's not new to the scene and a while back released a good share of mods under GPLv3 license. However, about 2 years ago he switched mostly to develop proprietarily for Tamari's servers. My impression is that Tamari convinced him that they could turn this into a profitable donations business. There are 2 issues with that, however.

Firstly, they steal the code both from other modders proprietary project through decompiling/recompiling it and they "borrow" the code from GPLv3 licensed projects, without adhering to the license and giving back. The license terms are unambiguous: a bigger project becomes legally a GPLv3 licensed one, even if a small part of it is licensed under GPLv3 from other copyright holders. Thus, they are in the violation of GPLv3. There are multiple projects involved and yours is one of them.

Secondly, I believe they conduct cyberattacks against the servers of their competitors and I have evidence to supplement that. This essentially a stolen code profiteering going alongside with stifling the competition.

All that's not fun at all, so I thought that you may decide to help the modding community out with pushing back and ask FMX to either comply with GPLv3 terms which require that they release COMPLETE source of their project the UM is a part of or remove UM from there altogether. Some developers are already cooperating, so to address that FMX is already in a rush to either remove or refactor the stolen/violating the terms code so there's no semblance with the original, but we are in close pursuit, doing all sorts of code similarity analysis which we are going to go public with. What say you? Can you confront FMX on that? Just FYI, if he doesn't cooperate, FSF will gladly add weight to our proposal and if this is still not enough GPLv3 is easily enforcible through the US court system.

Hopefully it gets updated soon, but it's understandable if it's not: the retards at TWI keep breaking and ruining the game with each update, so there's that. Most mods get fucked with each update to their 'mod-friendly' game.

Can you update the mod? After the latest beta (today's beta) I keep getting an error in the log of my server when I try to boot it up:

Hello. I've updated Unofficial Mod to v9. Check out the above post for details and especially the "Clearing cache for v9" discussion as Tripwire has fixed the workshop bug.

(P.S. Hopefully things will slow down now that the holidays are over and I'll be able to get back. I still have a few things I want to add.)

Can you consider extension counter and timer as a server side feature? it makes commando alot easier right now as he doesnt need to pay attention to timings and counting anymore.

Hello everyone. I've released a bug fix update for Unofficial Mod. Note that you'll have to clear UM's cache before restarting your server or client in order for things to work correctly due to my workaround to the Workshop cache bug. The above "Workshop issues for Halloween 2019 update" discussion has been updated to reflect this.

You'll know if you've done this correctly because Unofficial Mod will state that it is v8.1 in the lobby chat box.

There's an issue with the recent Halloween update that causes Workshop items to not transfer .u files to the cache, which causes code mods (including Unofficial Mod) to not work. Read the above discussion for more information and a workaround. I will include my own workaround to this with the next bug fix update.

Hello everyone. I've finally updated Unofficial Mod to v8. This version has quite a few new features and a lot of under-the-hood changes. See the main post for more details. I will work on fixing current issues once the beta goes live.

By "hard-coded", I mean that the only real way to modify what perks can use a weapon is to override and replace the weapon itself. It's relatively easy to do so for just one weapon, but removing or modifying cross-perks altogether would require overriding all cross-perk weapons.

I'll consider adding a Commando-only FAL to a future version. If anyone else thinks that this should be implemented, let me know.

Awesome! Glad to hear it's being fixed. btw I tried out TIM and it works perfectly for removing whatever weapons I want so thanks for bringing it to my attention.

I've got a question about crossperk weapons though. You said that what perks can use a weapon is hard-coded and can't be changed. Does this mean it's also not possible to make a separate copy of say, the FAL where it has a bigger ammo pool but deals assault rifle damage instead of ss rifle damage and is only available for commando?

[Insert Name Here]: lvl 25 prestige 5 demo with LLLLL skills. Haven't tried it at other levels but I have tried various different skill setups and none of them fixed it unfortunately. Do you think prestige levels could be affecting it? Just to be clear, I'm not running any other mutators either.

*Other suggestions:
-I can implement the mod settings text option. Added to my to-do list.
-Unfortunately, what perks can use any given weapon is hard-coded in the weapon itself and as such is not readily modifiable.
-If you want to remove weapons, you can use Trader Inventory Mutator . Note that you'll have to manually add the weapon definitions that are from Summer 2018 and newer.
-Regarding disabling perks, I'll have to investigate. In the meantime, you can use RestrictPerkAndWeapon (2/2)

Deku Scrublord:

*C4: I'll look into this. Do you know if this bug happens at any other perk level, and what perk skills did you have? I was unable to reproduce this bug on my level 23 Demo, so I'll have to get to 25 before trying again.

*Trader localization: I was able to figure out what was causing this particular bit. It turns out that my fixes weren't complete. This will be fixed in v8. (1/2)

Great mod! This is the kind of stuff that Tripwire should be adding in their updates but aren't.

Problems I've run into:

C4 is bugged. When you buy it as lvl 25 demo you get 7 bricks as normal but you can't buy an 8th one. It also only shows 3 as the max and you can't buy more than 3 unless you sell the c4 and buy it back to get 7 again.

Weapons modified by this mutator also show up with weird names in the trader like ?INT?UnofficialMod.KFWeap or something like that. Not game breaking but still a bit of an eyesore.

Things I'd like to see added in the future:

The option to:
- disable the mod settings text at the lobby.
- add and remove crossperk weapons.
- remove weapons from the trader.
- remove perks.
An FN-FAL that's balanced around commando instead of sharpshooter.

And thank you for making such an awesome mutator.

Shaenix: Due to how RPW handles its weapon config, that feature only works on vanilla weapons. I put in a request on RPW's suggestion discussion that would allow the use of custom weapons with full pathname, so watch RPW's workshop page and the respective discussion. P.S. All UM weapon classes are UnofficialMod.<Vanilla Weapon Class Name>_UM, so the UM M14 would be UnofficialMod.KFWeap_Rifle_M14EBR_UM once this is implemented into RPW.

Hello, I want to use RPW's weapon config function (https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/workshop/filedetails/discussion/909271656/1291817208486399681/) to change the EBR's damage, but since UM's M14 is unique, the name "Rifle_M14EBR" doesn't work for UM M14. Any idea what name should I use for it to work? I've tried "Rifle_M14EBR_UM", "KFWeap_Rifle_M14EBR_UM" and "KFWeapDef_M14EBR_UM" but no luck so far. Thanks very much.

suger丶Y: I have been investigating this and have discovered a bug surrounding how zed's HeadlessBleedOutTime works. I've reported it on the TWI forums, so we'll see if they fix it.

peelz: Can your friends check to see if the localization file has been properly downloaded? It should be in steamapps\workshop\content\232090\1502948617\Localization\INT. If nothing is there, try unsubscribing and resubscribing. I've been told that localization files sometimes don't download for whatever reason. I'll still try to figure out a workaround for this regardless.

DrunkBunny94: I have asked Yoshiro regarding releasing Flash sources; unfortunately, he said TWI has no plans to do this.

DrunkBunny94: Unfortunately, I'm limited in what I can do here because the Trader menu is in Flash, which Tripwire is closed-source on. I sent Yoshiro a PM on the TWI forums to see if they will consider releasing Flash sources, though the answer will most likely be no.

On another note, I've released v7.1. This is a compatibility patch for the Summer beta. Let me know if there are any other lingering issues.

Numerical weapon stats in the trader because the bar graphs are pretty useless and not everyone wants to learn the new stats for each upgrade by heart...

A heads up for the summer beta: don't use Unofficial Mod on the beta until I've updated to v7.1. I need to make several compatibility changes (including some bug fixes, one of which is a potential crashing bug). I will post a new comment here once I've updated.
