Hi Mercury, The mod is actually just for the skirmish modes, so Player vs. CPU and Multiplayer. I didn't even know there was a way to start the single player game with it until a few months ago. :b I'll probably get to fixing the campaigns now that HW3 sucked, and this is all the Homeworld we're ever gonna get, but I want to take my time and do it right. Maybe adding a couple missions and changing some stuff around to get the new upgrades integrated with the story. Maybe having some of the heroes from the mod showing up to save your bacon. Right now, I'm still modding HWR, but adding new heroes to this and the Star Trek vs. Homeworld mod and working on a Missile Command vs. Homeworld mod. I might get to the single player game after that.

Hey there Captain. weird issue with HW1 Campaign, basically "Mission failed" and the mothership is not yours but have the drone npc tag on them

Yeah that's what i did.

Tbh that is a kinda stupid design. Like, why even exclude the campaign and made people have to tick option for it to show up.

I was wondering how you even got the single player game to start! :D I wanted to take a look at updating this a while ago, but I couldn’t get the single player button back in the menu after I updated this mod for compatibility with the Star Trek mod. I just tried that little check mark in the mods menu. I never even tried that thing out before- haha. Which I guess is how you got it going as well. Yeah, I’ll get it working! And maybe add some cool stuff while I’m at it too, like side objectives to get the advanced upgrades! Thanks for the tip, and good idea!

Oh shit i only see this now tbh i didnt even buy the game lol... If there is one thing I discovered is that if the original devs is not there anymore it will never be the same...so sad tho

tbh i dont play homeworld that much anymore but i got some mods to work...cant remember what i did...but Anyway im waiting on homeworld 3.Funny thing is it releases on my birthday! Its a good sign!

Hi Eczekretal, maybe try this: If the mods aren’t listed in the ‘available mods’ list, then close the launcher and open it again. I have that sometimes too. There are also two buttons on the left side which are somehow easy to overlook: ‘HW2 Classic’ and ‘HW Remastered’ so make sure you have the correct one selected. If you mean that you put the mod in the ‘selected mods’ list and it doesn’t show up in the game then go in your steam library, click Homeword Remastered, click the little gear button, go to ‘properties’, make sure there’s nothing in the ‘launch options’ field.

Why does any homeworld mods stay unactivated? as soon as i go into game they disable bythemselves

Ah, I think I know what the problem is: There’s a setting for the Unit Caps called ‘No Reinforcements’ which doesn’t have any new combat ships. There are a bunch of different settings for the starting units, and that’s in case you want to play a game where everybody gets the same stuff at the beginning, but you can’t make any new ones. That way you have to try to rescue ships and repair them instead of letting them die a glorious death in the grinder. But yeah, if you don’t have any extra starting units, then that wouldn’t be much of a game. haha Press the ‘Presets’ button at the bottom of the game options and I bet you’ll be all set.

i'll have to check and see what it's exactly doing once i'm home (i saw this right as i was leaving) i'm unsure what exactly the issue is but it simply says 0/0 for all combat ships, for example i can't build fighters despite having everything that i'd need. it could be a weird setting issue or something but i wouldn't fully know.

Hello Gamer,

Okay, I did some testing with minelayers that could cloak all the time like the other sub-space stuff, and they were WAY to butch as an offensive weapon. You could cloak, start setting up a minefield right in the middle of the enemy's stuff, and then actively destroy any proximity sensors or sub-space scouts as they build them. So the enemy could see that there are minelayers there, slowly letting them have it, but they couldn’t target them.

So, the Stealth Minelayers I added can lay mines while cloaked for 1.5 minutes. That should give them enough time to either survive short battles or escape longer ones, but not be used offensively.

The limit is about doubled too, but we'll have to see if that makes multiplayer games lag or not.

I just tested it out too. I think you're right! It's a totally good idea! Sure, I'll put it in!

I think I'll make a Goliath version of the 5P Radial Symmetry map and I'll add the sub-space minelayers and update it. I don't think it will take too long.

I'm sort of trying to play Deserts of Kharak first, but I can't really get into it. I'm only on like the thrid mission, but I mean, it's just a bunch of stupid trucks, right? =D

Hey there, Captain_Freedom! I hope life's been treating you well!

I should've posted this a long time ago (like back in Jan or Feb), but I forgot all about it (my apologies).

So, (for whenever life gives you a chance to tinker,) I did some experimenting with many different ships in the different "races" that I had the ability to test**.

It seems like all ships were able to cloak (and stay cloaked) while continuing to do whatever they do EXCEPT fire a weapon. (I tested almost, if not, all types of ships, not just Minelayers.) If they started attacking another ship (even attacking a friendly), they would instantly decloak and even remain decloaked for several seconds after ceasing fire before recloaking again. However, much to my delight, even the Minelayers (or Minelayer Corvettes) would NOT decloak even whilst laying mines! Only if they were sent to attack (with their measly, much less powerful guns,) would they decloak.

* This leads me to believe that a sub-space Minelayer Corvette would actually work in practice (if you decide that that is something you'd like to incorporate). (Although, if I may make a second request and suggestion... Up the build limit (and/or give a speed boost) for the Minelayer Corvettes by a considerable amount, because it's essentially impossible to make large minefields with the extremely small build limit they give us. (I think I can increase the limit with another mod on top of this one (or underneath), but it'd be nice to have it already incorporated into this one.)) *

**mainly, the "races" that had ships with modules or ships that emitted a cloaking field that also cloaked all other ships that were within range (as opposed to the ships that were only able to cloak themselves and not others).

Ok, I like the idea of Battlecruisers being beefy, but for Pete's sake did you really have to go and wreck the soundtrack and the UI? Come on, one mod per mod. That's just basic software development wisdom. Tyvm.

Hi, I'm pretty sure that can't be done because they would de-cloak as soon as they start laying mines. I'll have a think about maybe making the mines last longer or be more butch though, but it won't be soon cuz I'm pretty busy in stupid real life.

Have you tried out the Static Defense Hardpoints? They're wildly expensive, so they take a concentrated effort to set up, but once you have a set of all four, you can finally sleep easy at night! There are some starting fleet settings where you start the game with some if you want to try them out quick, but you can set up a REAL defense with them!

Sub-Space Minelayer Corvette


Would you be willing to make a sub-space minelayer corvette that can cloak indefinitely?

It is so annoying to take the time to set up a beautiful, well-placed minefield, only to have the minelayers taken out, one-by-one, by ion cannon frigates. Apparently, the ion cannon frigates can shoot far enough that they're able to sit just out of range of the mines, and "snipe" the minelayers as they sit and wait for the next mine to self-destruct or get used.

Not sure if it is possible to have a cloaked minelayer corvette (again, emphasis on indefinitely) stay cloaked whilst laying mines, but it might be worth a shot in my opinion if you're up to it.

Thanks for your consideration either way.

(as a bonus, maybe you could give them a massive speed boost as well so they can get into position faster.)

Hi Shenderson, on the screen with the list of installed mods, there are two blue buttons on the left side: 'HW2 Classic' and 'HW Remastered'. I bet you have classic set. Try clicking the remastered button and see if that's it. (Don't worry, it's not you. The menu setup sucks.) If that doesn't work, you could unsubscribe, wait a minute and then subscribe again. That should force the mod to download again.

Hi Force, I've been trying to think about what could cause this. I think it might be your game options: if you have a CPU set on difficulty level 'Data' with a very high RU injection, that might be it. Maybe the CPU gets an injection of 100k space bucks and cranks a bunch of stuff out all of a sudden? Try playing the game on the default settings to see if that's it.

For some reason, I'd say about a third of the time there's a bug where the AI just insta builds ships. Just hundreds of ships in the first minute of the game. Very weird.

Hi Del, the Taiidan and Kushan have Heavy Cruisers instead of Battlecruisers, but they're about even. The Kushan don't have a dreadnaught, but therefore you can build Heavy Destroyers. The Kushan can build a bunch of fast stuff and they're really good at rushing people, but in a long drawn out fight, you have to make sure that you keep building up enough Destroyers and Heavy Destroyers to stand up to the dreadnaughts. Hey, how do I produce my Battlecruisers as the Kushan? I chose Butterbean mode but I can't build them, or dreads for that matter- only cruisers and destroyers, as well as shipyards, research ships, and resource craft.

Battlecruisers are back in their old glory! Remember playing HW2 and if you forgot to build a Gravwell, the CPU would hyperspace a battlecruiser right up your rump roast, and you just couldn't freaking kill the thing? Like that! Destroyers also take no crap now, and frigates have been left at their newfound butchness from HWRM. Costs and build times have been adjusted accordingly.

crud - I just noticed that granting the research bonuses slows slows the CPU players' build speeds down because they get the bonuses for a human. So, don't give the research grant to a CPU to make a boss fight. Ugh, I'll patch it soon. An option to set a player as a REAL boss fight might be cool too, right?

Hi, it kinda sounds like you haven’t played it yet, but I’ll answer your questions really quick anyway. 😉

I just finished a mod that adds another race from the totally killer Star Trek Continuum mod:

Any new races will be added in compatibility or expansion packs like that because more races cause memory issues and they’ll change the feel of the game too. I have some plans, but not until after the Star Trek one is totally done. Try it, it’s super fun!

I don’t think Cataclysm is gonna be added in its entirety, but I have been thinking about adding that cool Bentusi Dreadnaught in somewhere. I’m gonna start modeling pretty soon and I’ll see how much work it would be to make it.

I don’t want to rip the Engagements-guy’s idea off, even though it’s really cool. There are additional armor upgrades though, and you can start with them; it brings the health of a BC up to about a million!

As for ideas...any plans (or already completions) for adding Kadeshi / Turanic / T-Mat(what the starfish-thingies from end of HW2 were originally conceived as... there was a HW1-mod for them once) (preferrably as full species each) ?


Also, a way of combining with the currently in-development Cataclysm-mod (https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2195601016) would be quite important in my view...

And some setting like the Engagements-mod (https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=500022516) would also be nice to have...

Hello, Butterbean is a capital ships only game mode, and the starting units have stupid names, but they’re increasing numbers of starting units with no small stuff. If you hover the mouse over the options, there’s a description of what it does. Have fun!

Okay, cool. Playing with fewer races in the same game might make the program run smoother too.

I have 16GB of ram and I can play a big map with 8 players, using all 4 of the races in Goliath no problem, but I’ve also been working on a secret project with some other races, and in that mod I can only load 3 races at the same time reliably.

Okay, it froze and stopped responding for a moment, which is what it did last time, but I didn't try to move. It took a couple seconds and worked just fine from there. I think I just needed to learn patience for 5 seconds.

I tried it again on a different map. It froze for a moment, but i didn't try moving around. After the hyperspace was done, I was in the clear. Maybe it was certain maps or just me trying to move around right away. Whatever the case, it seems to work alright now.
