As per your request, I have added a global flag now: m_jihad_enabled
I hope it's still useful for you two weeks after you asked for it. :-s
Thanks.
- Leave the civic as-is, with all the diplomacy and war options/limitations.
- Add an origin that reflects what the homeworld might look like after defeating an AI uprising, maybe with special "scrapped robot" deposits or something, or even spawning a hostile "refugee" AI empire out in space somewhere, and suggest that it's designed to be paired with the Butlerian Jihad civic without explicitly requiring it.
This allows players to do both, have the background of defeating an AI uprising and going on to want to destroy all AI as a result, but also choose the background without the civic (maybe they reacted in a different way...) or the civic without the background (maybe they hate AI for completely different reasons?).
The mod still works for 2.6.
I am currently testplaying a game where, besides the civic, I've also added the Jihadists as an origin as an alternative. I'll leave in both options, origin and civic, to allow freedom of choice on how to customize your empire. If I encounter no problems, I'll release one of these days.
To come back to your earlier point, I have in fact removed the doubled society research from the mod. The reason being that you can now build an infinite number of temples on a planet, so leaving in doubled society research may be a bit overpowered.
@Mr. Bojangles: not sure really. At first it does sound like a big number. But when you compare it to for instance Mechanists' +66% growth from the get go, +100% society research actually starts to sound very reasonable to me. But I haven't done any factual comparison of my economies with these two civics. It's anyone's guess really.
I released a small update...
As for TurtleShroom noticing the AI Butlerian Jihadists building robots (is that what you're saying?)...
As for TurtleShroom noticing the AI Butlerian Jihadists (is that what you're saying), that surprises me. As far I can tell, the changes to policies should make that impossible. The only reason I can think of this can happen, is if another mod also overrides the robotic policies. Regardless, it is a good idea to create a new personality as a fallback for such cases. I'll add that in a future update.
On the very day an empire with this Civic meets the Materialist Fallen Empire, they instantly demand you take their Humiliation offer and have a permanent "Angry" status to boot. That means you will either be hampered for the entire game OR you will be killed by a FE every few years.
The Opinions of the Muhajideen and the Materialist Fallen Empires need to be nullified outside of special occasions.
(You can do this by setting the "ROBOT_EXPLOITER" and "ROBOT_LIBERATOR" commands to "no".)
- Jihadists can't resettle mechanic pops, this time for real.
- Jihadists get +15% ship fire rate when at war with an empire with the Mechanist civic. You can't declare Butlerian Jihad on them though. Mechanists have a higher probability to go down the Cybernetic ascension path however, so sooner or later you will be able to declare Jihad on them.
