Heyhey @HappyOwl , I've been playing with this since pretty much forever. On LE and SE. I sent you a friend request to ask that in private, but since that didn't work: I'm offering to port this mod to SE (1.5.97, meaning pre-AE) and publish it on nexusmods. All the crediting stuff and so on we can discuss in DMs (honestly I'll do all you want :) ), just hoping you read this post. Send me a request if you wanna talk about that, until then I ofc won't share my SE enjoyment of this mod ^^
Brohanga 31 Dec, 2022 @ 11:19am
I too would absolutely love having this house in SSE AE. I really miss Docjaha. Any chance of a port to SSE AE? Thanks.

I need some help with this mod when i put this mod into my game i change from a girl to a man can this be fixed? I love this mod.
jackwolkitt 25 May, 2022 @ 11:58am
I enjoy THE REST of it BUT, when I go to search for "the mages" I keep getting conflicting messages regarding their location. IF I go to Dawnstar it says they are in Winterhold. SO I go to Winterhold and it says...they're in Dawnstar. So I've STOPPED looking for them.

I should not have to save every time before entering a door.
james19091 21 Feb, 2020 @ 10:27am
Wabibi Just put one void Salt in the fire and that will open the door.

I included a room for the kids on the ground floor to the right of the main entrance but you can't move them in as this mod is only built for the original core Skyrim game so it doesn't contain features that require DLC content such as the option to adopt children that comes with the Hearthfire DLC. However, there is a mod available that lets you move your family into any home. You could try using that and see if it works for you?
Zhuge Liang 23 Jun, 2018 @ 11:43pm
this house didnt have an childrens room could you add one?
Protean Vista  [author] 16 Jan, 2018 @ 6:16am
Antares LOL Thanks for the blessing and all the best for your move. I've been playing mod-free this time around with the intention of having a 'clean' saved game with my character with all the skills maxed out to 100 then adding Frostbrook Farm to use all the display options for all the loot I've collected and just retire there with my family :D

@stealthdova
It’s real strange, isn’t it? Like returning to good friends! Believe me, I too have bouts of “fed up” with this game and then I start missing it and wondering what they all are doing… without me! ;-)
Now I mainly play when I’m not in the mood for dealing with the intricacies of a new Game and I mainly test mods which have been waiting for ever… (Well, the past four years) in my favourites list!
In this your wonderful “slightly overcharged” jewellery is a great help as certain Quests and Dungeons do pal after the 3rd -10th time…! I have been blessing you for the “sneak” bow and shield rings for the last fortnight! Hope it arrived! :steamhappy:
Now I’m going to install Frostbrook again and unload the collection of clutter in the nice big armoury!
Even doing Household chores is more fun in Skyrim!

Antares thank you so much for the lovely feedback. That's a nice Christmas presents :) I'm actually surprised there are still people looking for Skyrim mod (especially non-SE ones) since it's such an old game now. Mind you, I still come back in to play from time to time even though I have bouts of feeling sick of it. As for playing with both House for a Hero and Frostbrook Farm, I've heard from other subscribers that they work fine together. The only part I'd be worried about is the Spouse/Adoption dialog clashing. I think it should be fine though as long as you have Frostbrook Farm in the mod load order after House for a Hero.
Antares 19 Dec, 2017 @ 8:38am
@stealthdovah,
What can I say, that has not been said many times over?
WOW!
(apart from the fact that my DB almost drowned!) :D
I have player “Frostbrook” and liked it very much, an well as recommended it, but this house is something ells!

It is the first weapons and mannequins layout that makes real sense for me! And the whole thing is lovely and small!
Since it is all so beautiful and fitting… (and it is Christmastime…???) ;-)
No, just joking. But I would naturally like a bigger armoury! Hence, the question if both mods are compatible!

Thank you once again for sharing your inspired work.
Cheers and happy holyday.

dgracia If you're going to try reinstalling it, you'll need to transfer your items to a storage space that exists seperate from the mod otherwise all your items will most likely get lost in the eather when the House for a Hero-based storage places get removed from the game along with the rest of the mod. I'd recommend using a chest in a default Skyrim playerhouse like Breezehome. Also, make sure to save the game at least once without the mod included before trying to restart it otherwise you may well have some conflicting data in your existing saved game from the previous time the mod content was in your game world. This will mean the next time you play with the mod reinstalled, it will start the quests over from the begining (including getting the house gifted to you via the Skyrim courier etc).

I actually received the deed from the messenger and unlocked it with the key. I wouldn't know how to hack it to get in prematurely. just subscribed to get it. Perhaps I should unsubscribe and delete the files and then re-subscribe? Only problem with that is I have a number of things in the merchant's steed storage. Guess I could move them to Loreas' vault for safe-keeping.
Protean Vista  [author] 12 Dec, 2017 @ 5:31am
dgracia Sounds like a load order mod-clash issue. Make sure the House for a Hero mod is loaded after anymods that update the landscape. Either that or it may be because you've hacked your way into the house somehow rather than letting the quest run its course so the external stones haven't been switched on by the quest stages. As I recall, I set it up so they only become active once you take ownership of the house so you can't teleport into the house from one of the exterior stones until you actually own it but I can't remember what the trigger condition was.
dgracia 11 Dec, 2017 @ 5:42pm
Just added Skyrim to my Alienware laptop about a month ago and or course added your House for a Hero mod. For some reason, when I use the transport stones in the forge, they transport me just fine but there are no return stones to transfer me back. Works correctly in my desktop back in the US, but I'm in Australia with my laptop and I need those return stones to work. They do not even appear at the locations that I transfer to....Help!
venomsparkle 3 Nov, 2017 @ 9:47am
this mod is cool i grant u that but ur quest u put with it sucks where in the hell do i finnd loresias
or whatever his name is? if i can not get a definative answer i am gonna remove everything from the house and i will unsubscribe and get rid of the mod as i have many other house mods that are way better and not such a pain in the ass comparedd to a house mod with a quest that comes with it
Protean Vista  [author] 24 Oct, 2017 @ 9:22am
elijahraheem600 Read the section above titled "Adopted Children, Gardens & Other Heathfire Content". Alternatively, I recall there being a mod around called something like "Move Your Family Anywhere" that claims to enable you to move your entire family into literally any house in Skyrim. You could hunt that down and give it a try.
BlackMagic713 22 Oct, 2017 @ 5:38pm
There’s no option to move my family here, any ideas??
Protean Vista  [author] 28 Sep, 2017 @ 3:19am
I'm not modding in Skyrim any more especially since the change over to Skyrim SE. I've moved on to playing with Unity and Blender to make my own stuff.
BagelBalls 25 Sep, 2017 @ 9:32pm
I saw that in your mods, maybe I'll get it tomorrow, it seemed pretty nice, are you working on something else currently?
Protean Vista  [author] 25 Sep, 2017 @ 2:31pm
That's super kind of you to say, BagelBalls. Enjoy your stay. If you like this house, you may even prefer my Frostbrook Farm mod which greatly expands on many of the features in Dragonborn Cottage plus it incorporates Heartfire features such as adoption and gardening so you can move your whole family in and grow your own produce etc.
BagelBalls 24 Sep, 2017 @ 7:00pm
I've had this mod for many years, never downloaded another house mod because of how great this is, I avoid buying vanilla houses and wait for this greatness to come every playthrough, thank you for creating such a great mod that will most likely be forever in my load order.
Protean Vista  [author] 10 Aug, 2017 @ 3:58am
Ber Thank you for the kind comments. :) Sorry to hear you're having issues with Hearthfire houses. Have you tried changing the load order? I remember being able to move my family around with this mod. It's so long since I've even played Skyrim though that I can't remember what order I had them in. Try putting it after the Skyrim master file and Updates but before all the other official DLC (I designed it to be useable without DLC so there's no Hearthfire or other DLC content in it) then move your family to any non-DLC Skyrim house outside Whiterun like Honeyside or Proudspire then from one of those places to a Hearthfire house.

Amazing mod, i really apreciated, expecially for the well made armory, the possibility to move the wife into it and the Lorea's ring at the end of the quest. It is extremly usfull to wear it, go from every point of skyrim in my private storage, transumet everything I dislike into gold and replicate hard-to-find ingredients. You had the best idea! .
Unfortunalty, create bugs with heartfire: Since you have a wife, wont show the dialogue to move to your Heartfire house, wile the kids can only move on your heartfire house because the Dragoncottage it is not progetted to hospitate kids beds.
But great anyway. Let me know if you fix it for heartfire
midkemia1978 27 Jul, 2017 @ 5:18am
Thanks StealthDovah, it makes a big difference without the quest markers sending me all over Skyrim LOL
Thanks very much for your work on this, I absolutely love Skyrim and thanks to you and others like you, the game lives on with many more fantastic quests!
You did a great job on this, I hope there are more you have in store for us :)
Protean Vista  [author] 26 Jul, 2017 @ 5:25am
midkemia1978 Woo hoo! I hope the next quest is less problematic for you. All the best.
midkemia1978 26 Jul, 2017 @ 3:22am
Got it thanks. Quest completed :)
Protean Vista  [author] 23 Jul, 2017 @ 1:16pm
midkemia1978 The shine table begins empty then it cycles through the deity options as you click on the lamps on either side of the shrine table. There should be explaination text for this but I made it so long ago now I can't remeber. I think there was an introductory letter from Proventus that explains how many of the house features work. Don't worry about following the quest markers. Sounds like a mod clash issue or something. Just go into the cave in the Trophy Room. You'll come to a small cave with a state of an man. Look for the underwater tunnel entrance next to the state then follow that tunnel until you come to a big cave with a statue of Alduin. Kill all the cultist (or at least the boss) then loot the chest just under the water at the base of the Alduin statue then got back to the trophy room at click on the plaque next to the cave entrance. That should mount the dragon skull and complete that quest.
midkemia1978 22 Jul, 2017 @ 5:59pm
Hi Stealthdovah, I checked again and I believe I am in the right room for the shrine.
There are 2 display cases, a chest, some manakins and a shelf with an arrow pointing to it but nothing actually on the shelf to manipulate.
I have an arrow on my map to say to go near Dawnstar to stop the cultists, I get in range of it and then the map marker dissapears and it tells me to go to Winterhold to stop the cultists.
I get near Winterhold and the marker once again disappears and it tells me to go near Dawnstar again. Very frustrating. I don think the mod has loaded properly or something.
I really like the cottage and the quest sounds great but its doing my head in, I might just have to forget about the quest and just enjoy the house.
midkemia1978 22 Jul, 2017 @ 5:46pm
Thanks Stealthdovah, I will check the shrine again it. As for the cultists, I have killed them all and gottent note to start the quest to stop them transporting the bones, i just see no map markers. The only markers I get are the ones for Dawnstar and Mages college.
Protean Vista  [author] 18 Jul, 2017 @ 9:33am
midkemia1978 The shrine is on the upper floor to the left as you enter the house. To find the cultists you need to enter the trophy room and search the caves that have been exposed though the broken wall in the trophy room.
midkemia1978 16 Jul, 2017 @ 1:21am
I cant see the customizable Shrine either.
As far the markers are concerned it keeps pointing me near Dawnstar and The mages college.
I assume those are actually the teleport locations. I like this quest but it is getting extremely frustrating not knowing where the cultists are. Can someone hint to the location seeing my quest markers dont seem to work?
midkemia1978 16 Jul, 2017 @ 1:04am
Hi Stealthdovah, it is my active quest but there are no markers :(
Any suggestions?

Alaskan Glitch Outstandingly encouraging feedback! Thank you! :steamhappy:

Outstanding contribution. Thank you! :steamhappy:
Protean Vista  [author] 16 Apr, 2017 @ 3:05pm
If you've followed the House for a Hero quest line and have retrieved the dragon skull, there should be an activatior on the plaque that you click on and the head will bemoved from your inventory and mounted on the plaque automatically.
Governor Grundle 14 Apr, 2017 @ 8:09pm
how do u put the dragon head on the plaque
Protean Vista  [author] 20 Mar, 2017 @ 8:55am
midkemia1978 If you have the House for a Hero quest set as an active quest, there should be a quest marker leading you to them.
midkemia1978 18 Mar, 2017 @ 7:02pm
Really great Mod :)
The house is really fantastic and the caves also. I am a little unsure where to find the cultist bones to stop them though, do I need to wait to get further info on where they are?

Protean Vista  [author] 19 Feb, 2017 @ 1:20am
fire_rocket89 Sorry, I made this mod sooooo long ago that I can't even remember what the answer is. I think there was a conversation about this earlier in the comments fee though if you care to look back through it. There was a riddle written in a book that you get at some stage during that quest that gives you clues to the correct ingredient.
Protean Vista  [author] 19 Feb, 2017 @ 1:16am
Dice_Boken Well, I didn't ask you to use my free mod so if you don't like it, don't use it.
Xarados 13 Feb, 2017 @ 6:42pm
having trouble with the alchemist quest. used every ingredient possible and still cant open the portal to the next area
Dice_Boken 8 Feb, 2017 @ 3:36pm
Why would I wait for 24 hours? If that is a requirement you put in I woud advise removing it, it is a complete waste of time.
Protean Vista  [author] 8 Jan, 2017 @ 10:37am
No worries. Enjoy the adventure :)
