Otherwise if you have discord you can find me by joining this server using invite code: 2jhjAFC
Generally I'm the only admin, though from time to time I have a counterpart, so at max 2.
Side note, would you like to continue this conversation in something other than the comments?
Do you prefer version 2 (Custom Turret Builder II) or version 3 (Custom Turret Builder III). They are not compatible so I will start with whichever you prefer.
Also, in these games, are you the only player with admin privileges?
The original post was asking if there was a way to limit/restrict players being able to use it on a multiplayer server because I wanted to hand out super powered mods as rewards for participating in community events.
I just can't seem to find a way to restrict other players from being able to use it so I can use it for my purposes. Which is all I was asking about.
I've been using it in single player for fun and its worked as expected, haven't found any issues really.
In multiplayer, each player has their own interactions with the mod just like they were playing in single player. As far as I can tell anyways.
Is this a tool meant to design turrets that get added to the loot-pool for drops in-game?
Is it meant to be a way to get yourself free equipment to play around with?
Is there a way to use it in-game and pay for the turret design you build?
The most helpful would be the client log which should be in users / username / appdata / roaming / avorion. Not sure if there is a way to send attachment through Steam. If not, I can give you my e-mail address.
So I finally setup a multiplayer server to test the mod. As far as just working, it works for all connected players without issue.
As for what I was asking about, the restricting access to the mod to just admins, there doesn't seem to be a way for me to do that with how you have written the mod. (Not a complaint, just I can't seem to restrict it like I was hoping to.)
There is another mod @ https://www.avorion.net/forum/index.php?topic=4595.0 that requires a command be invoked to attach the script to the players current ship, the invocation of the command can be restricted to the admins via the admin.xml file in the galaxy folder for the server running.
Is there any way to add a check to see if a player is listed as admin? Or perhaps tie the startup of the mod script to a command that must be typed into the chat channel before the script runs? (Because then it could just be restricted in the admin.xml file.)
Sorry for the delay, crazy world we live in today.
thanks covid
(just kidding you're my hero matt)
I want to make sure I understand your suggestion. Instead of entering a multiplier (or divisor) when appropriate, you suggest percentages. So if the players enters "2" then the adjustment is 200%. Enter "1.5" would adjust 150%. Enter "0.75" would mean the adjusted turret value would be 75% of the base value. Enter "0.10" would mean the adjusted turret value is 10% of the pre-adjusted value.
Is that correct?
If so, off the top of my head, I think that's an absolutely brilliant suggestion. Let me play around with it a bit. If it seems to work, then I might just update the entire mod accordingly.
Thanks very much!
And I want you to change from Multipuler to Percentage.
In my games, for some reason, the files keep getting deleted. I save a file, save a few turrets, get those turrets, get some turrets from using the file option directly, close the mod window, play some more, want more turrets, open window, no more file... :(
I'm going to set one up this weekend to test, I'll let you know how it goes. I have one running now but several people from the community play on it and I don't want to risk their progress tinkering lol
I've noticed that we can not set the range on some turrets (Plasma Gun, Bolter, Lightning for example), is it intended ?
Looking forward for the Mining and Salvage turrets
