The wing assembly was simulated in maya then compiled using sfms vertex animation system, the cube map was done in hammer scene building it would have been too reseource intensive.

I really like those models and the sequence too.
The only problem is the sequence itself. It works with other models but with those when I try to import the sequence it doesn't do anything, the models remain still.

That is making an animated texture sprite even then it will run pretty badly, these wheat models slow the computer down to around 0.5 fps.

I cant remodel them lower poly because they use vertex cache animation which keeps track of the positons of every vertex per frame.
