I can corroborate that the mod seems to work. At the very least, AI's start with no unit/tech/civic bonuses, and the free ranged unit on city founding is definitely working (I saw some very early slingers). It isn't possible to tell if the yield bonuses are increasing over time (an IGE equivalent that lets you see everything the AI civs are getting would help here, but to my knowledge there isn't any mod for civ 6 that allows you to do that like in civ 5). On Emperor, they certainly seem to have some sort of bonus.
Compared to King difficulty in vanilla (which has the same starting yield bonus as Emperor in this mod) the AI does seem a bit more capable over the course of the game.

What happens if i start a game on Modern Era for example? AI still got no starting units (like 3 settlers)?

It works fine! The only one that worked fine for my team.
Better check Civ6 wiki for details on vanilla difficulty.

This mod is great, it makes a bunch of changes I wanted but am too dumb for modding for, and then some! The amenities one says "Adding amenities to cities From Classical to Modern" is that for if you start in a different era, or does that mean per era going forward ?

@ChronoCore and anyone else - if you want to merge a mod into a current game you can edit a currently used mod. Check the modinfo and merge it, and just dump the files in the same folder.

Is there any chance you have a spreadsheet of all of the actual changes listed from Settler -> Deity. I'm trying to fully understand exactly what the changes are but looking at a chart would help.

Disregard my previous comment. Mod wasn't loading because I was loading a configuration. Just make sure if you are going to use this (or any new mod) that you create a new configuration instead of using a saved one like my dumb ass was. :p

Does not appear to be working at this time. I've tried with the mod enabled at several different map settings and difficulty settings but the AI appears to be starting with all of its settlers and warriors.

Don't really remember about RST, but if my coop group doesn't use it today, it probably caused severe desyncs before. Real AI always gived us desyncs in MP too.
This smooth difficulty mod however works well in MP! Also it shows how pathetic the AI is when it doesn't have free units. Before trying out this mod we had troubles playing on Emperor, now we play non-optimal setup on Immortal and it feels more or less balanced with our skill. I think next game we could switch on Deity for some struggle =)

Congratulations on the mod. Truly great. But, may you tell me how it behaves in conjunction with Infixo's RST (real strategy AI)? Have you tried it?

As far as I remember, yes, the values are fixed at the start of the game when the players are "created".

This mod is giving exactly the challenge that I was hoping for! I may have started playing on Immortal with Real Strategy and now several AIs have double my science, and almost 3x culture, and faith (and I've not been doing badly by any means!). Is it was possible for me to edit the values mid-game to decrease the current bonuses applied to the AI? I've found and edited the entry in the 'LowDifficultPlayer' sql, but it didn't seem to have an effect on the current game. I'm assuming the mod values are snap-shotted on map load?

Maybe there could be a 1 or 1.5% stacking percentage resource increase option to try it out? Maybe Archipelago is just bad to play in because of limited expansion opportunities...

Hey, so my partner and I are playing with this but by the modern age we can't compete on archipelago on King AI across the board. Our main enemies seem to have advanced too easily scientifically and maybe culturally and our units are getting slaughtered. Should we just play on Prince? Is there a way to make the science and culture bonuses less pronounced every era?

I've used many of the AI smoothing mods and I think this one is the best, at least for me. I've played a few games on King with it and have been challenged well into the late game (I'm not cheesing, however). Lots of fun and this is soooo much better than vanilla (hard at first, steamroll the end).

Only change I've made is I added a single line of code so that City States also lose their starting bonus Warriors. This hasn't caused any issues with their ability to handle Barbs in my brief testing.
