the turrets are spawning outside of the ship so i cant use the railguns at all, completely broken

I used Wifi components to communicate between the main sub and the shuttles.

Sorry I really don't have time for Barotrauma at the moment, I'm workin on my own game ; )

Question, so the periscopes are connected to the guns on the turret, even though its a separate entity in the game, how did you get that connection to work? I have am building a submarine and it has a little away sub and im trying to connect the ballast pump from the little sub to the main subs nav terminal so when it floods, it can automatically drain.

Having an issue where the rail gun turrets are spawning further behind on the ship, causing it to be unable to slide out

Not sure why, but in a quick editor test of the sub, moving the top turret compartment had damage from movement.

Very strange, if you order the AI to man this gun first it doesn't work.
If you order to man the second gun then the fist it works.

I'll investigate when I have time.

The ship is designed with efficiency in mind so one captain, one gunner and one guy doing all the repairs is the minimal crew I would say.

@FLX Hey, thanks for your response! After playing with the Shapeshifter, our crew loves it. Our gunner also said the alternating firepower of the twin coilguns slightly makes up for the lack of upgrades. Its effectively a mobile chaingun that can use the coilgun's unique ammunition. However, it might be interesting to have two variants of the ship: one with the twin weapons, and another with upgrade-compatible weapons.

By the way, for the same reason as (1) the only place where you can refil oxygen tanks is near the O² generator, that way you have to manage O² reserves carefully and people who put back diving suits with 1% O² can create some dramatic situations ; )

1) I like dark ships that force you to play with a torchlight and manage your batteries:
- Making eyesight a scarce resources is a classic game design trick of survival horror games and Barotrauma has a lot of survival horror elements.
- It also keeps the crew occupied which is what the game is about: have more tasks than you can manage and panic because things get out of control.

2) Twin weapons use a third hidden weapon to center the aiming which makes them incompatible with the weapon upgrade feature.
I made these twin weapons before the weapon upgrade feature was made so it raises the question of the utility of such design now.
I'm thinking about removing these twin weapons and only keep a single emplacement to let people enjoy the upgrades.

To FLX: if you happen to see this, my friend and I think that this ship's concept is amazing. Excited to introduce this to our crew to try it out. We both had a question though, so... in order:
1. Any reason why the sub is so dark? We looked around for a light switch (fruitlessly) but I also noticed there didn't seem to be many unlit lights around either.
2. Know of any way to change out the coilguns for other weapons? Similarly, any way to separate them?

You can find the turrets in my workshop if you want to edit them to see how it works.

The turrets are shuttles moving thanks to ballasts and engines. The trick is that they are maintained in place while moving by a piece of wall sliding in a gutter located in the main submarine.

There is WEP (war emergency power) speed mode for the engine that consumes reactor + battery power and cannot be maintained for a long time. Maybe you activated it without noticing.

I've deactvated AI pathfinding nodes in the horizontally sliding turrets as they got stuck here. The rest is fine.

Hey, thanks for the bug report, I've fixed it. For some reason that door required the tag id_card instead of idcard.

For the performance issue sadly there is nothing I can do to fix it except removing a lot of object from the submarine to lower CPU demand.

When in a campaign, it also seems to destroy my FPS to about 1 whenever I move the turrets when this did not happen before. Worked perfectly in the tester.

The reactor room door seems to have an issue with its idcard tags. It wont respond to any cards.

Really really cool design! No airlock, though, so you can only enter or exit by gun deployment. Ran into a bug where one of the guns got stuck too, but couldn't re-create it

The control is in the nav terminal and the charge is dropped from the lower turret. The 3 ammo emplacements in the Ammo Stowage room are what it says: stowage.

thanks for your anwer, i tried reverse engineering your turrets forever but didnt find what tethers them, managed to get it working on my own after trying a few different things. you actually only need hull on the shuttle's "slider", but getting it to not pop out of its socket was kind of difficult, it looks damn satisfying now though, very worth the effort

Hey, you must place one piece of hull from the shuttle inbetween two pieces of hull from the main sub to create a slider in a rail. then you use engines or ballasts to create the movement.
Look in my workshop object you will find the shuttles used to creat the turrets.

how did you make the turrets stick to the sub? I need to make a dock gate with sub shells but cant figure out how to only allow movement on one axis while undocked
