Can you increase slingers damage a wee bit more.

Does this mod affect the elite skirmishers for example Rhodian slingers which should be left alone.

Welcome. I've been wondering if I was too harsh towards slingers. They don't deserve to have AP..but I might agree with you regarding normal damage. Anyone else have thoughts?

Now that was fast, thanks! If you need to balance this more I think you should actually increase slingers damage, but keep low AP so they can counter javelins, archers and other light armoured troops but cannot destroy (that easily) heavy armoured legions like in vanilla.

Based on feedback... I've added a significant amount of damage back to arrows. They are not fully back to vanilla, but pretty close to it. I worry archers will become overpowered when compared to other missiles. But I'm not sure, tell me what you think. They still need more power? Good now?

I like this mod. However I agree with others that you should leave archers as they were. Now even the enemy light troops or skirmishers seem to be too resilient to their arrows.

The AI with your mod for me, as rome. Has been sending huge infantry stacks, full nearly, high level weapons. hard to deal with. been having some really good infrantry battles.

This is great, i hate the skirmish units they are more effevtive than a machine gun crew. Tried the more health but its not working.

Updated with wonders patch.

After I read the patch notes, I thought it might be time to retire this mod. However, the patch doesn't go far enough when reducing AP for slingers or ammo for javs.

I'm glad they noticed how over powered some missile units were, but they still have a ways to go before I can retire this mod.

I've thought about that. Archers got the least amount of damage reduction. Maybe it wasn't necessary. Anyone else have feedback on archers?

You should modify it to leave archers as is. Just lower the amor piercing ability of javelins and slingers

@Tropics. The damage for javelins has already been reduced slightly. I updated my notes to show this, but its actually been there for several weeks. Their ammo was reduced from a typical unit having 11 to 8. You should try it, it might be what you're looking for.

If you are still not happy with the damage reduction, you should combine this mod with my more health mod. By adding more health, missiles are reduced that much more.

More Health

I've been using the more health mod combined with nerfed missile mod for awhile. I'll make the health mod public in case someone wants to try it.

how drastic is the javelin ammo decrease? I am sick of seeing entire untis mowed down by javelins and really want a damage reduction mod, can you help maybe?

Which missiles? I didn't even touch them all. If you were using slings against armor then yes they will suck.

Slings are really the only ones that got hit hard (lost armor piercing).

Referring to the mod? Or just speaking about the game in general? With the mod we wanted to reduce the amount of ammo with javs, not really hurt their weapon. Slingers we wanted to make mostly ineffective against armor but still as deadly against non-armor. Bowmen were hardly touched; just slight reduce of damage/ap.

I'm sure everything still needs some tweaking, so I appreciate the feedback.

in my opinion slingers and bowmen are too weak, but javmen are way too OP becuase of their high Armor Pen

There are already multiple mods increasing the damage of missile units. I for one disagree with the effectiveness of ranged units as it's not historically accurate. Especially slingers against fully armored units. The game as it was took too much away from the regular infantry. We hope those who agree will enjoy their preserved armies for the main engagements.
