And I agree, hydrogen would make sense IMO. Maybe not so much as a chemical fuel, but definitely if used in fusion reactors. That would have pretty high energy density, and might explain its price too...
I think it makes sense to use raw hydrogen after cells, but before containers, since it falls inbetween money-wise, that would be up to you though, since its price / MW would be whatever you assign it.
i realized that hydrogen is actually pretty expensive ingame compared to other space games, which treat hydrogen more realistically. IE: cheap and abundant
i am not super concerned with the size of the generator since I am imagining that fusion energy is easy and cheap in this universe. and that is what the generator blocks are.
If alongside, it is necessary to think over in which "slot" because for now it is Energy Containers, then cells and finally money.
TBH i am unsure if hydrogen would have energy density large enough to warrant its use as it would require "burn chambers" and turbines or thermoelectric cells large enough to provide electricity at quite large rates (somehow my brain attaches real physics here)
Try this, it is quick-and-dirty all notifications removed version.

Unless there is some incompat with either your save or another mod or DLC (I don't own any so can't test this and thus won't support it), then it should work fine
I sure don't mind. I had a version with regular chat info, but didn't like it (and ppl on my server too) so I changed it to use notifications.
As long as you credit me, i have no problems (I love GPL licenses).
I hope you don't mind - I have amended your mod for my server so that the 5 min payment alerts come via regular chat (white text) this is due to having large fleets on my server and never having fuel cells (great idea, i just prefer to pay the fee)
i have uploaded the edit to steam workshop, and pointed to you being the author, i hope you dont mind. let me know if i can do more to highlight you are the author
"Different upgrades to energy must be excluded from the process, by the way, you should keep an eye on those too."
This seems not right.
If you upgrade generators then you essentially increase amount of energy generated by the generator, which I've assumed to already be at 100% efficiency, because there's no related stat in avorion and due to law of energy conservation - more energy = more fuel.
I consider generator upgrades to be more like packing stronger generators into smaller space (miniaturization seems allowable by physics).
I also think that treating upgrades as not needing fuel will just simply be buffing the upgrades without any real reason.
Also There's a kinda problem if you want to transport power cells, because you cannot just tell ur ships to not use them, so you have to always get more than you'd need, but I am not sure if it is more a problem or feature :D
