@Theholyocean ar you dumb?! IGE can spawn ANYTHING. modded or not. and if IGE cant find it it dont work. i have many mods that adds units and improvments and IGE can find themm all. so stop talking shit moron

The Bridge is working fine. You also can build a road on top of it. However, the Canal is NOT working. After building it for 10 rounds, no ship can pass the Canal, nor does a city recognize itself as coastal. Is it an issue with that DLL file? Do I have to install the DLL manually (in that case: where to find it and why not mentioned in the description)?

Canals seemed to not work with this mod from quite some time, if workers can't built bridge, try work boat

A silly question, how to build a canal or a bridge? I don't see any new icons for worker's actions. Are there any shortcuts? Thanks.

I love this mod and it used to work but now it isn't working. I can build it but my ships can't pass through it.

I know this mod is very old but I decided to try it.
Canals - They allow ships to ENTER and then Leave an inland City - BUT the inland city CANNOT build ships or work boats ( At least for me)
Since workers seem to be able to build Canals almost anywhere you could theoretically build a canal all the way across a Continent to connect two oceans for sea travel. ( Have not tried it)
The canals use the Bridge graphic and do not always line up right so they are UGLY.
I have not tried building a bridge between two land points yet but I expect it will work.

Is it true that the assets of Civ VI can be used in Civ V and vice versa? In which case why not borrow Civ VI's canal graphics?

In this case, I would rather advise a mod with which you can build channels with forts. Of course, this is not a perfect solution. But this way a terrain improvement gets an additional purpose and it looks much more appealing.

You can cheat/ work-around canals - not working.
With IGE mod, you can place (manually, individually) 'Coast/Lake' 'Terrain' were 'Land' tile exists.
This will cause that tile to work like 'Coastal water', even tho - it still looks like solid-land.
To see that tile, as... - indeed water - and not land - you would have to save the game -there
close the game to desktop, re-start it - and load that save... and 'presto', it's water now - lol.
Be careful with IGE mod you sometimes have to also "delete" previously-assigned tile-description
like 'Mountain' 'terrain' then ALSO - assign new description- like 'Coastal water' before it works properly. so... enjoy your terra-forming

Everything is working for me except that the canal looks just like the bridge. Is this a glitch or is the canal supposed to be the same look as the bridge?

Please bring back, "Like Moses." That one worked great, and completely changed the game for the better. This one, although it seems great, horribly slows down processing and eventually makes the game completely unplayable, And I have a pretty fast gaming computer.

Another mod that works well with this mod is: IGE
But I use it sparingly coz it can be so OP
Example: if i have 2 continents separated by 3 water tiles, I use IGE to put/create/teraform an island in the middle, and use IGE to assign the island and water tiles on either side as my land, then I build 2 bridges linking the 2 continents
I know its cheating a little - but i like the overall effect of linking continents

Does the DLL slow down processing? I'm playing on a "Large" map, and I just installed your mod. Very much looking forward to trying it out, but I'm only on turn 246, and the processing for each turn is taking so long, it's made the game almost unplayable! I've seen this happen in the past, when playing on a "Huge" map and in the very late game. But this is too early for this extreme lag to be happening.

Any idea whether the DLL could be the cause?

Thanks for this incredible mod! Finally allow me to connect all my cities and routes!

I just have one suggestion. I wonder if you can make the bridges and canals work like the road, that can be built outside territory and doesn't replace the current improvement on the tile. Maybe you can take this as another version or another flavor. This would allow me to literally connect anything! Thanks a lot!

@ other people that have Bridges that work but not Canals,

you probably have, the same problem, as me. You have - I think - another mod that changes land/terrain somehow. and the 2 or more mods - clash. I would suggest you disable the other terrain mod/s and your Canals should work. as they are supposed to. They work for me.
I find 'Bridges and Canals' Mod - more useful than other Land Mods.

I love this mod and I use it, all the time... but, when I downloaded/installed another mod: Tunnels (as in: thru mountains - creating a rail conexion thru a mountain - that - all land units, can use)
it conflicts with Bridges and Canals. If the tunnels work, the Canals CAN be built + Road/Rail but ships can't access it anymore, sadly... - Bridges still work fine as supposed to.
Obviously there seems to be a script clash/overlap between the 2 mods.
Can it be fixed ??? As in... can you do it... if you will ???
If I try, I'll prolly mess everything up badly.
It would be great if your mod included Mountain Tunnels too ??? ...
if it's not too much hassle. If you're still doing Civ 5 Mods.
I do have Civ 6 and Beyond Earth as well but I still like Civ 5 much better.

Anyone else get DX11 runtime errors after using this mod? The game was running fine. I saved, came back, and tried to load and it crashes with dx11 runtime error. Nothing changed. It is the only game I have played after downloading this mod.

I'm with Kingforaday. The canals used to work for me and now don't. I don't know what I added to screw it up. I was happily using "like Moses" in conjunction with this (despite the fact that I knew that Moses did the opposite) and then I had to go and update it! Still. the bridge function is so wonderful and useful! Thanks Hammerstorm!!

Definitely improves the game and I will keep using it, only issues I had with the mod would be canals don't join up so look strange and auto workers remove them so you have to keep checking in on them

One problem that I notice is that auotmated workers don't seem to care if you built a canal and happily change it into a farm or trading post, leaving your ships stranded on land.

Canals work fine for me. If you build one on a hill or through a forest. you will have to build a road in the same tile as well to allow conituios movement. A chain of canal/road tiles allows ships to move faster than in ocean tiles. Unfotunatly, I see the same pontoon bridge whether I build a bridge or canal. Graphics could be improved.

It is interesting to build a chain of canals and let your navy bombard enemy cities.

It would be nice if the creator was alive. It seems like somehow the LIke Moses mod vanished, now this is the only canal mod for 5, and dammit I need a canal system in my empire!!!

Bridges work fine. Roads can be built on them so thats nice.

However canals do not work.
Apart from an ugly decal that's added to the tile. It does nothing. Ships and workboats cannot enter the improved tile.

I don't know what anyone else's problem is but it's working for me. Kinda ugly and sometimes the graphics plain don't work but the functionality is all there.

the sole reason i subbed was for the canals, and they don't work. I am not sure if I am using any other mods that modifies the dll, but is there any way for this mod to be edited that it DOESN'T require its editing? I looked at Dr.LeFaucheur's post about the issue from a year and a half ago, and I am also worried that it might corrupt other non-modded (besides this one) game files I have. Any ideas?

Make the bridge seperate from the Canal and make it where if you make a bridge, certain large ships cannot pass under it. Or maybe make it where the bridge imprivement needs to be improved further. (Via research, workers or both) to allow larger ships to pass underneath it.

Love the mod, but does anyone have an issue where you can't build a canal on random tiles? On the standard Earth map, a CS always spawns near the one tile spot between where Saudi Arabia and Egypt would be. Meaning unless I remember to turn on the Raze All Cities mod, I can't get naval units past that very nice spot.
