probs, or maybe lighting in survarium is handled differently and the way the normal map is designed wouldnt cause these types of issues in their engine? either which way it doesnt matter to me what happens, i just think that idiot needs to take a fucking step down for once.

There definitely might something going on with the normals and/or smoothing. It would be funny if that's bone rotation thingy again, which I can fix if I spend enough time on this.

Thank empty for this mod. The animations are god-tier. I might use them for a couple of Tokarevs later.

One time, I tried fixing PD2 AK lower receiver's smoothing. But the normal map was baked with the broken smoothing, so I un-unbroke it. I either needed to fix both the normal map and mesh smoothing, or leave both as-is. Is this what you're talking about? See my "AK-74U SMG" mod for reference.

Baked normals (both normal maps and vertex normals) are a result of optimization, transfering normals from a high-poly mesh into a low-poly one.
All those "smooth" curves and gradients are caused by that "baking" process, and if you re-smooth the mesh with Edge Split for example - you'll break smoothing and you'll get a mismatch between your mesh and your normal map (despite it looking fine in the viewport).
