the real time calculation of reverb cant be easy on the cpu when there is more than 10 guys shooting at the same time, right? still seems to work great but i wonder if its affecting my performance on contact since it has a lot of forests that produce echo

Sure! I will be right back! I tested earlier by being further away, the Gau-8 sounds fine, but the 20mm guns of the Gryphon, Wasp and the CSAT ones sound 'weak'. Maybe its because they're internally located, right?

Hey, I've wanted to say that the Gryphon, Blackwasp and A-164 Wipeout sound muted, the 20mms on the Buzzard sound fine.

is Gau-8 Avenger mod conflicting with this? Blackwasp and Griphon sound weak/aren't heard after the incoming rounds, same for the CSAT aircraft.

Quick bit of info for your suppressed weapons compatibility - the new Reaction Forces weapons "waterCannonBig_RF" and "waterCannonSpread_RF" should be treated as integrally suppressed, since they're, well, water guns.

All of S.O.G. Prairie Fire's APC's and tanks seem to have an echo effect when honking the horn in forests/urban areas. It might be because it has "2" ammo for some reason and counts the horn as a weapon. Not sure if you can fix it.

@ThomasAngel: This is great news. However, I have temporarily deleted my 300GB of Arma 3 + DLC + Mods. And it might be a while before I reinstall it.
I will keep it in mind though and test your mod next time I'm playing!

@r0dx864 I don't think fixing it would be that simple, because then non-suppressed weapons firing subsonic rounds would be quiet as well. A proper fix would require a way to detect integral suppressors and I don't think it is possible to do. Also ESS does not add any subsonic cracks, only the reverb / echo sounds you hear when firing near hills or mountains.

@ThomasAngel: Ahh yes, sorry there was a second part to my message which I then deleted. But in that message I wrote that this is indeed already a thing in the original mod but it never escalates to the same level of overlapping / full-blown audio chaos.

I am currently testing all three mods (yours, ES original, and Dynasound 2), and it saddens me to say that Dynasound 2 is the worst offender of them all. Sometimes swallowing up the reverb completely, other times glitching in and out, sometimes simply not booting with the game (or so it seems) and in consequence swallowing the reverb of a whole lot of weapons.

I love that this mod works with more weapons than the original mod. But there are issues:
Load into the Extraction scenario of the Western Sahara DLC with only Dynasound 2, Enhanced Soundscape and Enhanced Soundscape Plus loaded. Take a MAR-10 .338 from the arsenal, no suppressor and shoot QUICKLY at the hills in the South from near the arsenal. The reverb is so extreme and goes so far that the 10 shots of your magazine mesh (mash?) into each other and cause a horrendous rumbling sound. Recently, I had this during a prolonged firefight and it didn't end for 3 minutes straight.
Of course this is reproducable on other maps in other situations as well!

could you please add something like a check in the essp_core_fnc_fired or essp_core_fnc_suppcheck function(s) that takes the projectile object and measures the 343<vectormagnitude velocity _projectile? because it is currently playing the super sonic crack while using subsonic ammo and a integrally suppressed mpi kms-72ksd; the essp_core_fnc_suppcheck function is returning false despite the addeventhandler for "fired" returns 300 k/m for the projectile

@Feynman Livonia is probably just so flat that there is nothing to reverb from. There is nothing map specific about the mod logic.

Altis, Stratis, Apex Islands and Malden are doing fine.

Yeah il be honest im a little confused as to hat is going on. But did you test this with CUP? Because it sounds odd,however,author is correct that various dlc weapons need this mod. Im testing again

You sound like you're saying it both wasn't working before but also was, and then providing evidence that it actually sounds different with this mod. Meaning it actually wasn't working before as this mod only changes the configs to include more weapons via inheritance not the soundscape effects themselves. If it already worked then the sound wouldn't have changed at all.

you say if enhanced sound scape works with cup,wont this work too? But you list enhanced soundscape as a requirment... and what im saying is,that if you use this mod(which needs original soundscape) you get sounds that are extended while using cup weapons....

yes its the soundscape effects of the original mod,but oddly louder and longer.

Using JUST the OG mod, i tested back to back with vanilla weapons and cup, and they sound the same. When this mod is in use, CUP weapons sound different than the originals,they sound louder(soundscape effects, not shot as neither mod touches gun sounds)

Hope i explained it clearly. I also cant test every weapon mod out there and i never meant to suggest you should,but perhaps you should remove CUP from the description above,thats all.

@Redarmy Well if Enhanced Soundscape works with CUP then wouldn't this one work too? I never stated that it was needed. If I don't explicitly say that this works with CUP then I am going to get comments asking whether or not this works with CUP, hence why it is in the FAQ.

If loading this mod changes the way the game sounds then that implies that Enhanced Soundscape does not work with CUP without this patch. This mod does not change the sound effects, nor the sound system, it just makes Enhanced Soundscape more compatible, so if that means the sound changes, it implies this patch made Enhanced Soundscape work with CUP.

I am not going to download every single weapon mod out there to verify whether or not they need this mod for ES to work. I can rely on configs and inheritance to claim that every weapon mod that is configured properly should work with this patch.

Im pointing out that above you say "this mod works with cup",basically insinuating ,without this mod,it wouldnt,when infact,using this mod with cup introduces a very odd double sound/longer sound effect of reverb.

Hence my total confusion when attempting to apply this mod and not understanding why you entioned it was needed,it simply wasnt .

Maybe it is with "particular" weapon packs,but you should try to identify which or at least not assume RHS/CUP or whatever needs this.

@Redarmy CUP is not representative of every mod out there. Maybe CUP inherits differently than, say, RHS, and as such CUP happens to work with the vanilla mod. I do not play CUP and as such I can't say much else.

There is not supposed to be a difference in sound.

I made this mod to fix all the annoying issues I had with Enhanced Soundscape, if you don't have any problems with Enhanced Soundscape then just use Enhanced Soundscape. You do not need to ask me (or any other mod author) to justify you using any mod, use what you want and be happy.

what exactly is this doing? i tested it,vanilla and cup. the only notable difference is that the distant reverb seems to extend much much longer than the vanilla mod. heard no difference indoors either.

also the original mod DOES already work with modded weapons as i just tested with CUP.

@ThomasAngel I checked your mod with a supressor and NiArms weapon (AKM with PBS-1 supressor), it doesn't work exactly the same as on my video, that you showed. So I continue not to understand what your mod is doing :(

@ThomasAngel two year ago I was made this video for Lexeman, author of ES and it only concerned supressors, Today I didn't check supressors! Everything worked well without supressors.

I completely forgot that the mod did not work for suppressors. It's good that you reminded me of the suppressors!

@ThomasAngel Right now I checked, and everything works fine for me without your mod!

I'm using Dynsound2 + Enhanced Soundscape. I just checked the vanilla weapons and after that I checked RHS and NIArms weapons. In all cases, I hear the reflected sounds, like a distant echo.

All shots (vanilla and non-vanilla are identical) by reflected sounds, I do not know what you are talking about, and what your mod is for.
