Compacted Long Term Storages

@MrFox: That's correct. These are essentially buildings which store all the resources. You have to build or deconstruct in order to store and release the resources stored within them.

This mod was originally made before crew construction got added and this was a good way to reduce lag caused by having a huge amounts of nuggets laying around. Now it just stores huge amounts of resources for later use.

If you want storages your crew can access right away, thena mod like Optimal Storage is probably more to your liking.

Cant access the storage once built have to remove it to get access.

@VorHelios: I'm already considering it. Someone else asked about this recently and I already think it's a good idea.
The mod already existed (private mod). I never finished it but I still use it all the time tbh.

It still needs some work though.

Hi Any chance for a compact ammo storage aswell loving it so far

@scripper2002: I know. But I also have limited time and am stocked up to the brink with my own projects already.

I simply don't have the time to add resources for every single mod out there because this will detract from the projects I actually -want- to spend time on.

@SirCampalot you forgot that other mods than ETTM, adds resources to
SirCampalot  [author] 30 Jan @ 11:49am
@scripper2002: This version is for just the vanilla resources.
If you want the version that includes resources for ETTM, you can get it here: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2950702732

I've also edited the mod description to include this bit of information. Was actually kinda surprised it wasn't already there.

@SirCampalot its work with modded resource? or its just vanilla

Version 1.0.5 adds an empty placeholder block (costs 4 steel and 0 other resources) which can be used as placeholder instead of blocks made of for instance corridor, structure or armor.

The compacted storages placeholder blocks are added to the end of the 250, 2000 and 10000 Compacted Storages for convenience so they are available in each build menu while not changing the order of the storages inside the build menu so all storages remain in their original place.

The placeholder blocks can make the use of the Compacted Storages more comfortable in certain situations (like when mining asteroids and you are full of iron for instance, if you have any leftover steel or coils after building a Compacted Storage for iron, they could end up being left in space or a 1x1 storage area could be occupied by a single coil or steel).

It's rather minor, but I liked it during playtesting, so here it is.

@peterover3138025: As described on the mod description page, these storages need to be build to store the resources and deconstructed to retrieve the resources.
If crew construction is enabled, you will need an airlock (with a door) to have your crew construct or deconstruct these storages. If playing with crew construction disabled, these storages can be build and deconstructed instantly, which is what this mod was made for.

Adding doors to these storages would be just as pointless as adding doors to blocks of solid armor and I'm not going to heavily modify this mod to the detriment of the people who enjoy this mod as it is.

If you want short term storages with doors, then this mod is not for you.
OMEGAGHOST 28 Jul, 2024 @ 8:08pm
Crew can't work without door
DangerZone5310 17 Mar, 2024 @ 6:34am
make it able to have doors so the crew can access it.
SirCampalot  [author] 23 Feb, 2024 @ 4:48am
@Lucibal: I could, if I get permission from them to use a few of their assets (basically I'd need the symbols of their resources because I'd need to make slight adjustments to them).
Lucibal 23 Feb, 2024 @ 3:43am
could you make version of this one compatible with star wars cosmos divided mod ? (for storaging durasteel and doonium)
SirCampalot  [author] 20 Dec, 2023 @ 2:05am
1.0.4 is functionally identical to 1.0.3, except these storages should now be much quicker to build and deconstruct when using crew construction.
SirCampalot  [author] 29 Jun, 2023 @ 8:27am
It costs that many resources +4 steel.
It will cost credits if you buy from a trade station and this is also a way to quickly buy a lot of resources from trade stations, no need to open a trade window with them :)
cardzy 29 Jun, 2023 @ 8:25am
Ok, so it is just an item that costs that many resources + credits. Got it.
SirCampalot  [author] 29 Jun, 2023 @ 8:23am
@cardzy:
The compacted storages are basically like any other building. It costs resources to build them and if you deconstruct them, you get the resources back.
The steel in your armor blocks are also not accessible to your crew, the sulfur also can't be accessed in the same way that steel inside armor cannot be accessed by your crew.

You can only get resources back by deconstructing it or if it's destroyed.

You can always try it (create a last save first) and if you don't like it, just disable the mod and load your last save (from before you tried the mod) and you should be good to go.

But essentially these are buildings (like armor and structure is a building), but with which you can store a huge amount of resources.

Works best without crew construction, but will work with it (it will just take a longer while to build, especially the ones with higher quantity).

This mod was made before the crew construction update.
cardzy 29 Jun, 2023 @ 8:07am
I'm confused with the 'not accessible to your crew' thing. How are the items used then? If crew can't take sulfur to make ammo, how is it used? If crew can't gather and collect it and store it in the storage, how is it useful? I guess I will have to actually try this mod to figure it out. But that statement and some others that are confusing make me think twice about it.
SirCampalot  [author] 28 Jun, 2023 @ 8:39am
Version 1.0.3 is identical to 1.0.2 except for the version number.
Updated to get rid of the "not compatible" popup.

@BrutaTralb:
Feel free to try out the Extended Tech Tree version which can be found here https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2950702732 for even better C.H.F. units :P

@iuvenis sapientem: Thanks for the feedback :)
@Minette Rubica, thanks, I hadn't noticed this. It will be fixed with the next update :)
Minette Rubica 13 Mar, 2023 @ 7:54am
Love this mod, great for quickly cleaning up mined-out asteroids especially with mods that increase ore yields. I did notice that Diamond storages actually say "diamond" though.
Rox♡Geo 9 Mar, 2023 @ 12:25pm
fuck ye. Need it for a while. I use compact storage. Still not inove. This fix it
SirCampalot  [author] 8 Mar, 2023 @ 5:03am
Version 1.0.1 is now released. This is a minor bugfix.
I had added the line "Flammable =" to all the storages, but had erroneously forgotten to actually set it to false causing all the storages to still be flammable. This is now fixed.
No other changes are made.
SirCampalot  [author] 4 Mar, 2023 @ 12:16pm
@Dazz Aephiex, thanks, I hope you enjoy it :)

Definitely a useful one.
