This mod was originally made before crew construction got added and this was a good way to reduce lag caused by having a huge amounts of nuggets laying around. Now it just stores huge amounts of resources for later use.
If you want storages your crew can access right away, thena mod like Optimal Storage is probably more to your liking.
The mod already existed (private mod). I never finished it but I still use it all the time tbh.
It still needs some work though.
I simply don't have the time to add resources for every single mod out there because this will detract from the projects I actually -want- to spend time on.
If you want the version that includes resources for ETTM, you can get it here: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2950702732
I've also edited the mod description to include this bit of information. Was actually kinda surprised it wasn't already there.
The compacted storages placeholder blocks are added to the end of the 250, 2000 and 10000 Compacted Storages for convenience so they are available in each build menu while not changing the order of the storages inside the build menu so all storages remain in their original place.
The placeholder blocks can make the use of the Compacted Storages more comfortable in certain situations (like when mining asteroids and you are full of iron for instance, if you have any leftover steel or coils after building a Compacted Storage for iron, they could end up being left in space or a 1x1 storage area could be occupied by a single coil or steel).
It's rather minor, but I liked it during playtesting, so here it is.
If crew construction is enabled, you will need an airlock (with a door) to have your crew construct or deconstruct these storages. If playing with crew construction disabled, these storages can be build and deconstructed instantly, which is what this mod was made for.
Adding doors to these storages would be just as pointless as adding doors to blocks of solid armor and I'm not going to heavily modify this mod to the detriment of the people who enjoy this mod as it is.
If you want short term storages with doors, then this mod is not for you.
It will cost credits if you buy from a trade station and this is also a way to quickly buy a lot of resources from trade stations, no need to open a trade window with them :)
The compacted storages are basically like any other building. It costs resources to build them and if you deconstruct them, you get the resources back.
The steel in your armor blocks are also not accessible to your crew, the sulfur also can't be accessed in the same way that steel inside armor cannot be accessed by your crew.
You can only get resources back by deconstructing it or if it's destroyed.
You can always try it (create a last save first) and if you don't like it, just disable the mod and load your last save (from before you tried the mod) and you should be good to go.
But essentially these are buildings (like armor and structure is a building), but with which you can store a huge amount of resources.
Works best without crew construction, but will work with it (it will just take a longer while to build, especially the ones with higher quantity).
This mod was made before the crew construction update.
Updated to get rid of the "not compatible" popup.
Feel free to try out the Extended Tech Tree version which can be found here https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2950702732 for even better C.H.F. units :P
@Minette Rubica, thanks, I hadn't noticed this. It will be fixed with the next update :)
I had added the line "Flammable =" to all the storages, but had erroneously forgotten to actually set it to false causing all the storages to still be flammable. This is now fixed.
No other changes are made.
