Compacted Long Term Storages

Description
Compacted Long Term Mass Storages are essentially tiny 1x1 buildings which can contain 250, 2000 or 10000 of a resource of your choosing.

You can now easily store millions of resource nuggets on your ships without causing much lag at all.

These Compact Storages can be build or demolished at will, storing or reclaiming the resources inside of it.

.

Currently supported resources are Sulfur, Iron, Steel, Hyperium, Copper, Coils, Hyper-Coils, Carbon, Tritanium, Tristeel, Uranium, Enriched Uranium, Processors and Diamonds. Each of these resources storages come in 3 separate variants, holding 250, 2000 or 10000 of one of these resources.

If you are looking for the Extended Tech Tree Mod version of this mod, you can get it here: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2950702732

.

To keep things organized, 3 new tabs will be added in the build menu, containing the 250, 2000 and 10000 Compact Storages respectively.

Also, the differently sized Compact Storages will be colorcoded according to their size and the value of the resources stored in them to make it easier to visually distinguish between them (you can still mouse-over to read the descriptions though and I used visually distinct logos of the same color for blueprint mode).

.

With these Compacted Storages, you can store huge amounts of resources (literally millions if you manage to mine that much) without the performance hit you would normally have from having such ridiculous amounts of resources in your game.

Compacted Long Term Storages are not accessible to your crew, meaning you can always keep a pile of a resource from being used up in your factories by accident.

These storages will also store resources that float outside of your ships, insta-collecting resources you just mined or even from your other ships.

.

Some examples of what you can use this mod for:

- If you run out of room, you can create room for hundreds or thousands of resources by building just 1 or a few of these Compact Storages.

- Large ships can have Compact Storages containing 250 sulfur to refresh your sulfur stores for your ammo factories without the need to manually resupply for more sulfur.

- You can store mined resources like iron and copper to speed up mass-mining of large resource rich asteroids or you can demolish iron or copper Compact Storages to keep your factories working during transit or when your fabricating ship is gonna be idle for a while.

- If your ship is right next to a space station, you can buy hundreds or thousands of resources instantly for credits, you don't even need to open trade with any ships, just build the storages for credits and done.

- Also you can store some reserve coils to keep your hypercoil factory from depleting your entire store of standard coils.

This mod is really quite flexible :).

Please keep in mind that the storages you build will also store resources from your own nearby ships, which can make for the fastest way possible to send huge amounts of nuggets from one ship to another by building the resource storages onto the ship you want your nuggets to be, no need for sending your crew carrying it over, with this mod you can basically just teleport it over.

.

These Compact Storages are about as durable as armor to significantly reduce these Compact Storages from getting destroyed during combat or by fire (these storages don't burn btw). I highly recommend not trying to use these storages as armor though as there are better alternatives available for that purpose. Please keep in mind that storing millions of resources (if you manage to even mine this much) on a ship that is about to be destroyed may not be great fun for your fps, so please try to avoid leaving your treasure ships unguarded :P. Use at your own risk :P

.

.

I've been playtesting this mod for about 2 weeks as of writing and thus far without any issues. On top of that, it makes managing resources much easier and much more comfortable (and probably also less laggy) and with this mod storing a huge amount of resources can now be done without the need to make very fat storage ships.

Feel free to try out my other mods, which includes several mods that focus on asteroids, including Mineable Megaroids https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2888986724, Mineable Dwarf Planets https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2893554386, Mineable Gigaroids Lite Edition https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2907238729, Mineable Sundiver Megaroids https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2929387435 and Less Dense Asteroids which decreases the density of asteroid fields which, together with my other asteroid mods, actually increase the amount of resources you can mine from asteroids while increasing performance and decreasing pathfinding issues at the same time :)

Some of my asteroid mods also have one or more add-ons with which you can better customize your gaming experience (read their respective descriptions as what the add-ons exactly do will differ from add-on to add-on).

@MrFox: That's correct. These are essentially buildings which store all the resources. You have to build or deconstruct in order to store and release the resources stored within them.

This mod was originally made before crew construction got added and this was a good way to reduce lag caused by having a huge amounts of nuggets laying around. Now it just stores huge amounts of resources for later use.

If you want storages your crew can access right away, thena mod like Optimal Storage is probably more to your liking.

Cant access the storage once built have to remove it to get access.

@VorHelios: I'm already considering it. Someone else asked about this recently and I already think it's a good idea.
The mod already existed (private mod). I never finished it but I still use it all the time tbh.

It still needs some work though.

Hi Any chance for a compact ammo storage aswell loving it so far

@scripper2002: I know. But I also have limited time and am stocked up to the brink with my own projects already.

I simply don't have the time to add resources for every single mod out there because this will detract from the projects I actually -want- to spend time on.

@SirCampalot you forgot that other mods than ETTM, adds resources to
SirCampalot  [author] 30 Jan @ 11:49am
@scripper2002: This version is for just the vanilla resources.
If you want the version that includes resources for ETTM, you can get it here: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2950702732

I've also edited the mod description to include this bit of information. Was actually kinda surprised it wasn't already there.

@SirCampalot its work with modded resource? or its just vanilla

Version 1.0.5 adds an empty placeholder block (costs 4 steel and 0 other resources) which can be used as placeholder instead of blocks made of for instance corridor, structure or armor.

The compacted storages placeholder blocks are added to the end of the 250, 2000 and 10000 Compacted Storages for convenience so they are available in each build menu while not changing the order of the storages inside the build menu so all storages remain in their original place.

The placeholder blocks can make the use of the Compacted Storages more comfortable in certain situations (like when mining asteroids and you are full of iron for instance, if you have any leftover steel or coils after building a Compacted Storage for iron, they could end up being left in space or a 1x1 storage area could be occupied by a single coil or steel).

It's rather minor, but I liked it during playtesting, so here it is.

@peterover3138025: As described on the mod description page, these storages need to be build to store the resources and deconstructed to retrieve the resources.
If crew construction is enabled, you will need an airlock (with a door) to have your crew construct or deconstruct these storages. If playing with crew construction disabled, these storages can be build and deconstructed instantly, which is what this mod was made for.

Adding doors to these storages would be just as pointless as adding doors to blocks of solid armor and I'm not going to heavily modify this mod to the detriment of the people who enjoy this mod as it is.

If you want short term storages with doors, then this mod is not for you.
