Head Hunter

Wayyyyyy to strong. The enemy headhunters will follow/find you no matter what, "actually search for your ships" pffff as if. And they are ALWAYS the perfect counter to whatever ship they are attacking. Its like the ship can see your ships stats and perfectly counter it, for example: if your ship has a max range of 5km then the enemy will only get weapons further than 5km and stay away and long range shoot you. Not only that but all the attacking ships will have this modification. DO NOT GET THIS MOD unless you like to have literally every single ship you have CONSTANTLY get attacked with perfect counters with absolutely NO penalty to the attacking enemies faction/industry. You could literally slaughter thousands of ships and the enemies econ would not change.

Glad you like it Josh :)

WOW this is SO COOL when I do NOTHING to deserve a bounty except maybe kill one ship accidentally in OOS or something and a few hours later Antigone and Argon are sending hundred million dollar kill fleets to chase me accross the universe deep into xenon territory for an alleged bounty of a whopping 137k apparently. Multiple behemoths, 40+ S ships equppied with destroyer killer missiles up the wazoo. /sarcasm. Apparently I can go to a bounty office somewhere to pay off a bounty for a thing I didnt do or dont remember that was not a blip for anyone except for the headhunters sending MULTIPLE hundred million dollar fleets to chase me. Ridiculous. Cool for the money earned for kills part. Dont bother turning on the other bull.

This mod is amazing!

Hi, nice mod :)
Which option disables the bounty hunters coming for me and does disabling them removes my bounty?
Wryson Rose 25 Apr @ 12:55pm
Is there by chance a way to have one of my ships that has a bounty automatically pay it off if there's funds available?
Valtyr 2 Apr @ 6:00pm
How to disable the voice prompt that a ship with a bounty is within range I am tired of hearing it lol
Wryson Rose 28 Mar @ 11:04pm
I'm noticing that these bounty hunters are very...loose with their bounty targeting.

Example would be that I have a freighter with a bounty. They spawn in a good distance away, and pass by a smaller ship that does NOT have a bounty, but IS a member of my faction.

They'll engage, and completely destroy that target, and any others between them and the bounty target.

If they're going to be attacking ships at random, rather then their intended bounty, then they might as well just call themselves raiders instead of bounty hunters, right?
Priester 27 Mar @ 9:29am
When i reset the Bounty board will new bounty's appear or did i break it ?
Chillmatica  [author] 22 Mar @ 12:51pm
It is possible by hailing any of the bounty hunters
Wryson Rose 20 Mar @ 9:34am
Now is it possible to PAY OFF the bounty? :D

I just uhm...'acquired' a battleship that had a bounty, and now the buddies of the faction that I stole from (I won't say who! :P ) is now paying for a headhunter for ME.
Chillmatica  [author] 19 Mar @ 7:36am
Yep, that's always kinda been an issue with any hostiles flying next to stations or other friendly targets. The only thing that sorta helped me with that was playing VRO that has the faster projectiles and resulted in hitting friendlies a little less. Or one of those mods that reduces the effects of friendly fire directly.
Skaeger 18 Mar @ 6:47pm
I like the idea of the headhunters, but they like to attack my ships when they are near stations and if I am in system it inevitably results in my ships missing and hitting the station, causing the station to get angry and attack all of my ships nearby. That isn't really the fault of the mod, but it is an unavoidable consequence. There's no option in-game to tell my ships to move so they don't have friendly targets lined up if they miss.
Chillmatica  [author] 18 Mar @ 2:31pm
They are bounty hunters though so it'd also be odd if they only show up when it's convenient for the player. They can be disabled in options if you need a break to do something else though and still retain the other benefits of the mod like general bounties, etc.
Neurocite 13 Mar @ 3:49am
yeah being head hunted by groups of corvette's in the middle of missions is not ideal. especially when ive only got a silly small bounty. not even sure how i ended up with the bounty on me
THE DAYMAN 12 Mar @ 6:28am
I do like this mod, but the fact that 3 head hunters in ships worth 30m+ show up in random xenon infested systems to try and claim a 100k bounty from the lead ship of my fleet of 10 syns is a bit stupid and they appear constantly.
Siveen 1 Mar @ 8:28pm
Any way to do some config editing to change options as long as SirNuke hasn't updated his API?
Toma Arashi 26 Feb @ 7:11am
This is one of the best content mods for vanilla X4 period, I can't even begin to tell you how much fun and engagement i have with it
Chillmatica  [author] 30 Jan @ 7:58pm
Sure thing :) I ended up getting pretty familiar with adding options with all my mods because it definitely became next to impossible to make everyone happy. Options is the answer!
GhostBlade 30 Jan @ 9:01am
EDIT to previous comment;
I've installed the recommended MOD UI from Nexus, which includes options for turning off Player targeting Headhunters as well as letting you board Headhunters.

I'll play around with UI options to figure out what works best, I appreciate the options!
GhostBlade 30 Jan @ 7:49am
Unfortunately uninstalling.

My experience with the NPC Headhunters has not been smooth.
Defending myself against them triggers police alerts, even when waiting for them to attack me first (unless I'm in an unclaimed system, but that's a rare encounter with headhunters for me).

Additionally, shooting off large ship components from the headhunters triggers (small) rep loss.

Finally, headhunter ships will despawn mid-fight at times.

I'm not a fan of being unable to board these headhunter ships either. I can understand a "balance" reason for making every boarding attempt against large headhunters "impossible", but considering this with the points above the experience has not been fun.

This sounds amazing!
shilum_nehum 16 Jan @ 6:11pm
quick question, if i enable no faction bounties does that restrict the bounties to only xenon or does it include khaak and pirate factions?

So. In my experience. To get it to work with Kuda you gotta, disable Kuda, enable HH, save. Then you load the game with HH, save (normal save). Enable KUDA, load the game. And then it should work. But if you star the game with both KUDA and HH for some reason not all features of hte mod will work ¯\_(ツ)_/¯]

This worked for me, as well.
кят Jambo 26 Nov, 2024 @ 4:03am
I have the bounty board appearing empty :(

I just got + 12 rep for killing a 2m bounty. That might be a little out of hand. It was not even a hard bounty just someone that had accumulated enough heat on them.
SCARRIOR 21 Sep, 2024 @ 5:22am
Hello, you mentioned that better kill credit has not worked for a few years now, it works perfectly fine in my game. I look forward to using your mod also.
Duke Flapjack 25 Aug, 2024 @ 12:04pm
Any way to make the headhunters not hostile until they attack? I'm utterly destroying my faction reputation due to my combat ships firing on ships registered as my allies. I had to shut off the player headhunters because of this.
Comrade Cyka 25 Jul, 2024 @ 7:02am
Gonna throw this here as well.

It spams the debug log with an error after the save is loaded.

Hey, one of my favorite mods out here, however is there a way to add a blacklist to this mod?

For example I'm aligned with a faction and don't want to attack these even when they have a bounty and I don't need to hear all the time "ship in sensor-range" haha ^^
Chillmatica  [author] 30 Jun, 2024 @ 7:13pm
Not surprised. My mods and KUDA seem to not jive well together for whatever reason. I stopped using KUDA myself about half way through designing all my mods so did not bother to check conflicts or anything with it.
]TPG[*Dagger 29 Jun, 2024 @ 8:20pm
Figured out. New Kuda changes attacks or something and causes bounties on this mod to not generate. Disabled, immediate bounties.
]TPG[*Dagger 29 Jun, 2024 @ 6:27pm
Should this be telling you when you get a general bounty? I'm getting rep for helping but I'm not seeing any credits being given for general bounties. (Not wanted bounties.) Killing xen in ZYA space, notably.

Do I need to get last hit?
Chillmatica  [author] 22 Jun, 2024 @ 1:04pm
I wouldn't use this along with better kill credit. They're both trying to do the exact same thing. As I said in the description also, as far as I know better kill credit hasn't worked for a couple of years now anyway.
KnightedWarrior 21 Jun, 2024 @ 5:18pm
I shot down a Xenon K9 that the yellow notification said had 700,000 bounty.
But I only got 68k afterwards...
Is there a possible conflict with better kill credit, or some other mod?
Did I need to take a mission before killing it?
Chillmatica  [author] 20 Jun, 2024 @ 8:55am
They do if they accidentally kill an innocent while hunting you. They wouldn't from hunting you, as you are the one that is wanted.
Aktarys 20 Jun, 2024 @ 4:47am
Would be great if head hunters npc gets bounty too so you think more about destoying them or try harassing them.
Chillmatica  [author] 10 May, 2024 @ 10:55am
Thanks for coming back and letting us know. Most people would just disappear and leave everyone to assume it was this mod :) Appreciated!
The Creacher 10 May, 2024 @ 8:36am
Disregard my last comment. Seems like this actually does work fine in 7.0b. There was another mod I was using, (Not sure which) that was breaking NPC attack commands. So NPCs weren't attacking each other properly and my guess is never getting a Wanted Bounty because of it.

After uninstalling essentially all mods but this one and testing, it works fine!
Chillmatica  [author] 6 May, 2024 @ 12:40pm
Probably turrets is how it got it. You can start a conversation with one of the head hunters and pay off the bounty.
Christoph Grund 6 May, 2024 @ 5:03am
Is there some sort of possibility/logic to get rid of a bounty? I had a situation, that one of my cargo ships got a bounty on its head (however that happened) and then was constantly attacked by head hunters. So at the end it was time consuming to defend that ship.
Chillmatica  [author] 26 Apr, 2024 @ 7:30am
No, the Mod API only affects the option screen.
The Creacher 25 Apr, 2024 @ 7:37am
Playing in the latest 7.0 beta (3), I am not using the Mod API because it is incompatible. Does this make it so I cannot see bounties on the map?

I seem to be able to see my own ships bounty on the map (in parenthises under my ship) but I am not seeing any other ship with that on the map even after ~8 hours of play time.

Notably, the head-hunters themselves seem to be working, as several have been sent after me. However, I haven't yet noticed being paid an extra bounty from combat yet.

Wondering if this is expected because I do not have the Mod API? I also checked the log debug.txt and when I search for "HeadHunter" the only error I see is that it cannot find the Mod API in the beginning of the log.
Chillmatica  [author] 17 Apr, 2024 @ 6:33pm
Open comms with one of the bounty hunters and you'll get the option.
Dinvan 16 Apr, 2024 @ 2:56pm
Is there a way to clear a bounty from a ship? Some of the new xenon I have captured have bounties and now I have various bounty hunters attacking all my traders and miners due to being to slow to catch the ships they are actually after :p.
MrCoffee 16 Apr, 2024 @ 12:11pm
Might be bugged in the new beta, the boron police didnt like when i defended myself from some headhunters.
black9dragon9 14 Apr, 2024 @ 11:16am
Will i get a bounty reward if my ships kill the target?
Tetracell 10 Apr, 2024 @ 9:32pm
@AnotherGuy Yeah it seems to be basically fine, but with the Mod API not working you won't be able to easily change options or use the wanted board.
AnotherGuy 8 Apr, 2024 @ 10:08am
Does this work with 7.0 beta? or will it need to be updated?
