They stack multiplicatively, though outside a few instances general aging doesn't completely cancel out the childhood aging genes

What happens if you have short childhood but slow aging? Do they cancel each other out or work in tandem (for example aging slows down after end of short childhood).

Peter Pan got dark lol

Nevermind, i tested it ingame and they stack poorly, Very slow aging and Extremely short childhood combine to give you children with 72% learning factor (28% less) and 200% growth rate (children take twice as long to age up compared to default), since you can pick both types of genes it would probably be better to make the "aging" genes not affect growth rate or learning factor of children so you can have pawns that grow up very fast and live longer
Toxtricity 12 Sep, 2024 @ 7:49pm
do the genes stack? if i give a pawn Very slow aging and Extremely short childhood how fast will the children actually age?
Alite  [author] 22 Aug, 2024 @ 6:19pm
These genes don't impact skills or pawn generation stuff, only the rate that they age and the rate that children gain growth points
beahmont 22 Aug, 2024 @ 6:03pm
Is this mod supposed to make adult pawns created by world gen practically unable to learn skills even with all the learning traits and genes? I want the children to have these genes, but the adult pawns that start with it to make those children have severe learning issues.

By making the xml files I mentioned
Joselito 27 Jun, 2024 @ 4:28am
I mean, how did you make this mod?

There must be a way to edit the files, if you can, I can.
Alite  [author] 24 Jun, 2024 @ 4:19pm
There isn't an in-game way to edit these, and I don't know of a mod on the workshop that allows you to safely edit defs.

If you find the workshop file for it you could probably edit the xml file manually, though it's prone to random resets any time Steam needs to re-get files or I update the mod. The exact location of the files may vary, but usually can be found around steamapps/workshop/content/294100/3006044843.

Cool mod.

How can I edit this? I want a X1000% fast aging.

If you mean using growth points in place of learning rate factor, that is the case for those using the EBSG Framework . The framework adds a stat for it, and in the event that you have the framework enabled, the learning rate factor is replaced with a growth point rate factor.

The 40% learning modifier on Very Slow Ageing gene makes it so kids lose learning faster than they regain it.
Might I suggest changing it to growth rate instead?
Hugs 22 Feb, 2024 @ 8:56pm
They are now gaining growth tiers! Thank you for the quick fix, you rock! :D
Alite  [author] 22 Feb, 2024 @ 7:48pm
I'm uploading an update right now that should avoid any weird stacking stat increase/decrease issues with both growth points and learning rate. I've also softened the factor changes a bit. Those only using lower levels won't notice much of a difference, but at more extreme levels the change to learning / growth point rate should be a bit less drastic.
Alite  [author] 22 Feb, 2024 @ 7:36pm
Whoops. I meant to have the growth point change replace learning rate, not stack with it. I'll make an update as soon as possible.

I'm not currently planning on adding extra genes that because the learning/growth rate change is intended to represent the fact that their minds are developing faster or slower based on the gene.
Hugs 22 Feb, 2024 @ 4:52pm
Having an issue with this where child pawns with very slow aging genes are not realistically capable of gaining any growth tiers, because they lose learning so much faster than they can gain it. Despite my best efforts, nothing I do seems to be enough, even though I have several mods that add things that contribute to learning - you'd think 8 hours of CSL classes a day would work out with the learning multiplier boosted all the way, but alas.

Otherwise, this mod is absolutely amazing. It would be cool if there were genes that kept the rate of growth rate of children the same as vanilla but only altered their lifespans as adults, like an inverse of the childhood-specific growth genes.
Alite  [author] 9 Feb, 2024 @ 3:07pm
For those with the EBSG framework , lifespan genes will now alter growth point rate in addition to altering learning rate. I've also removed all metabolic effects of the genes because as someone mentioned on the Discord, colonies never really exist long enough for the super long term benefits and losses to have a notable effect.

While an entertaining idea, hyper cell instability actually cuts life pretty short as is. The 30% lifespan factor it has means that their normal 80 years is cut to about 24 years (80 * 0.3). If I had any multipliers lower than that children probably wouldn't even reach adulthood before dying of age related issues.
TheGamer 18 Dec, 2023 @ 6:52pm
cancerous cell instability, +10 metabolic efficiency but lifespan is VERY VERY VERY short
Alite  [author] 15 Aug, 2023 @ 3:13pm
An All in One has been made . It will be updated in the future, but most of my planned easy genes have been made.
Alite  [author] 30 Jul, 2023 @ 4:12pm
I didn't know that. I had thought that they were setting a curve rather than multiplying a curve, so having multiple genes would end up overwriting all of them with whatever gene is evaluated last. Since this is the case, I'll have the childhood be usable with normal aging genes.
Jdalt40 30 Jul, 2023 @ 3:43pm
Actually about that, age factors by age curves are stackable, the curves are just multiplied together, you can have sanguophages age quickly towards 18 and have it slow down rapidly as it approaches 18 due to this.

The Biotech Gene Variety mod heavily utilised this

The expanded genes will have their own all in one. I'll make one after releasing more of these. I wanted to keep it separate from the other one to avoid giving some people unwanted bloat on their gene list. Not sure how long it will be until then, but I do plan on making one.
Joselito 21 Jul, 2023 @ 12:44pm
Bro you´re really impresing, making life-saving mods!

But, I have a question, new mods will be added to the all in one mod?
dthednonator 20 Jul, 2023 @ 10:53am
Okay
Alite  [author] 20 Jul, 2023 @ 4:59am
No. Due to how the game handles aging, you can only have one aging gene at any time.
dthednonator 19 Jul, 2023 @ 7:08pm
Can you combine childhood aging genes with the regular aging genes?
Alite  [author] 19 Jul, 2023 @ 6:23pm
The Very Slow Aging is approximately Earth rate(10%), assuming their 24 hours are the same length as our 24 hours. It's at 10% to make its cost fair for the effect, but at that point they age too slowly to notice the difference.
bitbucket 19 Jul, 2023 @ 5:49pm
Could you add a gene to make pawns age at normal Earth rates? 16.4% is about right to get one biological year per 365 days.
