Description
Expanded Biotech Style Genes(EBSG) is the step beyond More Biotech Style Genes. Where that series sought to expand ranges that already exist, this series seeks to add ranges that should exist. You get gene ranges that alter sleep fall rate, but why not a range for changing the rate it recovers? If you can have fire resistance genes, why not have genes to resist other types of damage like frostbite and acid?

Make the phrase "they grow up so fast" a reality, or a complete lie, by using one of the 12 new genes this mod adds, 6 that affect the pawn throughout their entire life, and 6 that only impact the child while they are under 18 years old. Each gene alters aging rates by 25%, 50%, and 75%, and it also adds children learning rate multipliers equal to the children aging multiplier to ensure growth moments will not be unfairly lost due to accelerated aging.

If a childhood aging and a general aging gene are taken together, their effects stack multiplicatively. This may have unexpected results, especially if you are using genes at the ends of the ranges.

To replace the learning rate changes with a growth point rate change, you can use the EBSG Framework. The framework adds a stat for it, and in the event that you have the framework enabled, the learning rate factor is replaced with a growth point rate factor.

They stack multiplicatively, though outside a few instances general aging doesn't completely cancel out the childhood aging genes

What happens if you have short childhood but slow aging? Do they cancel each other out or work in tandem (for example aging slows down after end of short childhood).

Peter Pan got dark lol

Nevermind, i tested it ingame and they stack poorly, Very slow aging and Extremely short childhood combine to give you children with 72% learning factor (28% less) and 200% growth rate (children take twice as long to age up compared to default), since you can pick both types of genes it would probably be better to make the "aging" genes not affect growth rate or learning factor of children so you can have pawns that grow up very fast and live longer

do the genes stack? if i give a pawn Very slow aging and Extremely short childhood how fast will the children actually age?

These genes don't impact skills or pawn generation stuff, only the rate that they age and the rate that children gain growth points

Is this mod supposed to make adult pawns created by world gen practically unable to learn skills even with all the learning traits and genes? I want the children to have these genes, but the adult pawns that start with it to make those children have severe learning issues.

By making the xml files I mentioned

I mean, how did you make this mod?

There must be a way to edit the files, if you can, I can.
Alite  [author] 24 Jun, 2024 @ 4:19pm
There isn't an in-game way to edit these, and I don't know of a mod on the workshop that allows you to safely edit defs.

If you find the workshop file for it you could probably edit the xml file manually, though it's prone to random resets any time Steam needs to re-get files or I update the mod. The exact location of the files may vary, but usually can be found around steamapps/workshop/content/294100/3006044843.
