@ampyr, check out the Classical Empires combat submod I ported over from Attila. It fixes this :) among other things. its not very submod friendly, I recommend you try it alone. If it crashes, remove core_barbarian folder from land units, using Rusted Pack File Manager (its an app that you use to mod)

You open the mod files in C: drive or whatever drive steam is in/steamapps/common/workshop/3076015971 , find db folder, find land units, delete Core Barbarian file (thanks to @shahryar for the fix)

This mod doesn't modify the combat AI in any way, so maybe these generals just really ARE that suicidal. Thank you for the kind words, I'm glad you enjoy!

The only issue I have encountered is that the enemy generals seem much more suicidal compared to regular dei. Otherwise, I absolutely love the changes. Battles are much more fluid now while still retaining the slower pace. Cavalry on cavalry battles are just insane melees as I would expect two charging cavalry units. Great changes!

after yesterdays update charges feel far less impactful, i mean i just had a unit of macedonian companon cavalry charge a unit of greek townsfolk and the charge killed less than 20% of them, beforehand it would run them over killing 2/3 and shattering the rest
