About your setup... If you just put your barn stockpile (that is outside of the pen) as Low, Normal or Prefered priority, it will work fine... If you put Important or Critical, it won't take from the barn to the feeder...
To make it work as you want, not as a stockpile, but as a kind of production, it would require much more effort and workarounds... And it just work as it is... Isn't pretty, but works...
I will make another version of the mod that:
* Allows corpses;
* Have the option to allways receive food (To work as a sockpile, for cosmetic purposes);
* Have the option to specify the animal food consumption manually; So it won't turn on and off no animal amount fluctuation;
Does it conflict with other food storage that is already priority Important on the map. Are corpses handled for animals that eat corpses. This may be important since Allowed Corpses on the map can go to butchering or to the manger for Pigs etc but require cold storage or they will quickly rot. Ideally they should just be turned into Kibble if they are not useful for anything else. Something I found yesterday but never noticed before, prisoners with prison labor mod ignore Allowed and will just take them and butcher them.
Example (with many mods active)
Kitchen has linked fridges and cold storage right next to butchering station and cooking station (this is not ideal since unsanitary but I work with it)
Storage, pen animal food for tamers
Cold storage, holds everything except pen animal food
Pen manger or barn, holds pen animal food after created at butchering table.

The inventory setup is hard to understand?
Just make an storage, outside the pen...
Make this stora accept same food as the pen...
Leave the priority os this storage lower than important...
Pawns will haul things in and out of the pen feeders as needed.
If you mean is hard accomplish this, unfortunately, I that's the actual intention of the mod...
If you mean other things outside that, then, my bad, I can't understand what you mean...
