@BakerBochMod , you can try to modify the cvars related to bots ("sb_" cvars). Afaik, some of the cvars that affect how fast bots react to zombies are cvars related to range (like "sb_threat_medium_range" etc, "sb_near_hearing_range" & other range-related cvars). If you modify those cvars, you can reduce bot's response speed on zombies.
There are also bots cvars started with "nb_", & I think the headshot rate can be found on "nb_" cvars.

Hi, I've been studying some of the AI behavior in L4D2 recently, and I noticed a pretty serious but often overlooked issue — the bots seem to have a kind of built-in "aim assist" during combat.
This is especially noticeable when using L4B2-style mods and engaging enemies at close to mid range — they can almost instantly lock onto targets and land perfect headshots.

In high difficulty or realism-focused gameplay, this kind of behavior really breaks immersion and throws off the balance of team dynamics.

I'm just an amateur modder with limited skills, but I wanted to ask:
Do you think it would be technically possible to create a mod that disables or at least reduces the bots' auto-aim, assuming someone had enough time, energy, and skill to tackle it?

Brother, may I ask if you can add a function to increase the bot's movement speed? In Left 4 Bot 2, there is a command that allows the bot to prioritize focusing fire on the position of your crosshair, but the bot moves really too slowly. I hope you can add a function to increase the bot's movement speed.

@kurochama sorry for the reply. I tested it and i did indeed disable instructor hints, so it works now. The reason i asked is because in the complete merciless survivor bots addon, with the grenadier and medic things being features in there, it used the chat window to display the numbers on how much items you stored.

It might be a nice option to add that for the notification system, incase people prefer to play with hte instructor hints off.

@Mickey Adaptus , did you disable instructor hints? On Paramedic Survivors & Grenadier Mode, the notification is via instructor hint. As bots can't display instructor hint, the number of medkit/ grenade bots have isn't visible either. But players can see their items in virtual inventory as long as instructor hint is enabled.

Ahhh thanks that is good to know. I think the notification option on the paramedic survivors and grenadier survivors mod are bugged tough, i couldn't get either of them to display the notifications when bots or i pick up items. I think i saw someone else mention this bug as well.

The notification options do work on the complete merciless bots mod tough, since i remember seeing those notifications when using the mod.

@Mickey Adaptus , I'm glad to know that you like this mod. For Grenadier Mode & Paramedic Survivors, they should work well with this mod. I also often use those 2 mods along with either Merciless Bots, Enhanced Angry Bots or this Cruel Bots when testing some custom campaigns, & they could work without problem.

Hey there, so i saw you integrated the grenadier mode thing into this mod as a feature. I tend to use your mods quite a bit (merciless bots in particiluar), but i want to use cruel bots now since its more lightweight and works more smoothly with other bot mods, but i also tend to use Grenadier mode and Paramedic survivors.

So if i use the seperate Grenadier mode and Paramedic survivor mods, will the features work well alongside the Cruel Bots mod? I was using those 2 mods alongside simple merciless survivors a while ago, but i couldn't quite figure out if the bots were picking up those extra medkits and grenades etc. The notification option did not seem to work fo those mods either, despite it being turned on.

I do really like your mods, they are some of the best on the entire workshop in my oppinion, alongside left 4 bots 2

@菠萝游侠 , yes. If you use a mod with 8 survivors, bots will kill many zombies faster than just with 4 survivors.

@1729426309 , do you have other bot mods active? Normally your cfg settings should make bots behave almost like default bots.

As you can see, I have adjusted most of them to 0, but in the campaign the AI ​​still kills very quickly which makes me too redundant. Do you think there is something wrong with my current adjustments?

@1729426309 , There are 2 features that you might need to check: Threat Detection Level & Ability Detection Level . "Threat Detection Level" is how far bots can detect infected. The higher the value is the farther they can detect. As for "Ability Detection Level", this is related to special infected & tank. If this is active, bots will be able to detect special infected & tank as soon as they're preparing to use abilities (tongue, charge, jump etc). You can try to turn this off if you think that the bots kill special infected too fast. Oh & also turn "Assassin Mode" off, as this will make bots deal great damage on special infected when they detect special infected's abilities (tongue, jump, charge etc).

OK, I want to ask if the AI's speed of killing special infected is too fast. They die as soon as they appear. I want to adjust it myself. @1729426309, the friendly fire is still like the default L4D2 settings. But if you want bots to be able to hurt players, you can add "sb_friendlyfire 1".

Does this mod turn off friendly fire? I need the AI ​​to occasionally blackmail itself or the player, so it looks more like a real person.

after testing this addon with super hordes + advanced tank ai with 10000 health i must say:
-none of the bots got incaped IN THE ENTIRE CAMPAIN
-they had no strugle with the parish and dead center finale
-they even went to revive me even if the tank is attacking close to them
-they are also super quick to rescue me from an infected, specially with the smoker or charger
-they usually have some strugle when dealing with hunters (but thats alright because i have an advanced hunter ai mod lol)
since i use a mod that adds a lot of common infected, it´s surprising that they can take care of it, at the end i have the mayority of kills because of meele weapons lol, none the less this mod is a must have if you are thinking on playing l4d2 with super hordes, great work!

i wasn't saying it doesn't exist or was impossible, as I've experienced it before
except when i remember seeing it was probably modified dedicated servers
server plugins are clearly more advanced in their designs
what i was referring to was from the base game itself with addons / scripts
i was saying it's not very logical because of what you're wanting the bots to do
it's human thinking and usage regarding timing and areas mostly
with how and when to use a molotov or pipe bomb or even a bile jar
it's been done before but it's just too buggy and awkward and not worth it

@The solar flare , probably that's a good idea, to taunt survivor players via talkers.

@basednewb , I already replied this on the "Suggestion" thread. You can use this mod together with other bot mods instead.

@Trunten , yeah, making bots use throwables needs some coding & some complicated scripts & functions, like forcing bots to switch active weapon to throwable & then forcing them to throw it at certain directions of their eye angles. My "Merciless Bots" twin brothers have this feature as one of optional features, & some bot mods also have it. So there's no need to add this feature here, because this mod is so simple & portable that it can be used together with other bot mods without bug.

i don't think bots "using throwables" is possible
well, at least not without actual recoding or reprogramming maybe
i could be wrong though, but I honestly don't remember seeing any mod for it
modified servers with plugins or something else from normal addons

however, he could probably copy the other one that lets them pick them up
as well as also give them to other players
same with swapping and giving around other items
they could at least be retrained to interact with items they normally don't
I seem to remember mentioning this to him long ago on his other bot mods

@basednewb , yeah, they will kill-steal zombies much more often, a total opposite of the default bots that are often hopeless when facing horde or running events.
