@MxS7HGS I appreciate the feedback, thank you!

Awesome mod! Life expectancy’s way lower now—pretty much like it was in real life. Add in the Alleged infertility mod, and the global population stays around 35–40k, which helps with performance too. This mod needs more subs!

I noticed that, when playing and a character gets influenza, maester treatments dont work for some reason. Besides that, thank you for the increased comparability with AGOT!
CaptainSlapster  [author] 13 May @ 12:01pm
@Innead Just improved some compatibility with AGOT. As of now there's no new diseases. However, If you're playing AGOT and have characters with the sickle cell trait there will be a one time decision to remove the sickle cell from every character. Any new game created sickle cell will no longer be applied to any characters. I did this, because i'd rather not have players lose their current save files. :)

While this may not be very compatible with AGOT. It's fantastic for a semi-vanila playthrough, thank you for this!

update?

Of course, it would be best if you are willing to make an additional module. One module for the birth rate and one module for the death rate. That would be symmetrical and perfect, don’t you think?

Hi, are you interested in making a negative health modifier for the elderly (people over 60), and then making the modifier more severe for every ten years of age? There are too many old people in the original game, and of course the main thing is the players themselves. I think it was probably rare to live to over 80 in the Middle Ages.

@Innead Understand this isn't made with AGOT in mind. This was made with vanilla and vanilla like mods in mind. I can't add exceptions for other mods without breaking my own. If you wish to do this, create a patch that'll fix these issues. Outside of that any issues or bugs related to DDF, please use the bug reporting discussion above.
Innead 7 Mar @ 8:50am
@CaptainSlapster Another AGOT related bug I found. Is that dragons can sometimes be affected by the sudden death events introduced by this mod (The Cannibal died of a sudden heart attack at one point). You might need to add an exception for dragons in the game.

Also figured out the sickle cell bug seems to happen even without LoV. So it seems just AGOT related.

Could you slightly reduce the probability women of dying in childbirth? great mod btw.

@Innead Thank you for the feedback, This mod was made with vanilla esque gameplay in mind. I'll look to see what the code for Legacy of Valyria has, but no guarantees can be made. I will look over the mod you've shared here, but as I don't wish to copy other people's work. I'll see if I can do something a bit more interesting with fertility.
Innead 4 Mar @ 7:52pm
Oh and a minor issue I noticed with this mod and Legacy of Valyria, is that every NPC seems to somehow start with sickle cell when the mods are paired together. Can easily be removed from living character via the DCM menu, but might be something you want to check out.
Innead 4 Mar @ 7:10pm
@CaptainSlapster Just as a suggestion, could you add features from this mod? https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3007911040 since fertility is this mod's thing, it might be interesting to have it change how fecund works a bit too.
CaptainSlapster  [author] 1 Mar @ 5:15pm
@Ynnead Thank you for the input! I'm still tweaking the fertility settings and actively fixing up some minor issues. Currently in the Gamerules, there are some options that may make this a nightmare to play. I even get frustrated lol.
Innead 28 Feb @ 11:42pm
Upon playing with this mod for a in game decades. Never mind that, this mod is somehow even more ruthless than Dark Age (from my experience). So many kids just DIE. Love it, keeps my world's population from bloating.
Innead 28 Feb @ 9:31pm
Is there a way to have this mod be as punishing as Dark Ages? I love the added difficult of Dark Ages, but at its base form, it's very incompatible with AGOT and I don't care for its other features for the most part.
CaptainSlapster  [author] 14 Feb @ 2:33pm
by pregnancy file I mean the only base vanilla file it edits rn is pregnancies.txt so it is compatible with a lot of other mods. It works very well with TFE for instance.
CaptainSlapster  [author] 14 Feb @ 2:32pm
@Kapsellola, Dark ages is more punishing with fertility and death, military, and offers difficulties such as, reduced income, payment for higher development level, etc ,etc. Currently this mod edits only the pregnancy file. So technically it would be compatible, but it would make life harder on you because this mod also offers: increase childhood difficulties, deadlier disease traits. What this does add is a few more disease types, a few events(if you activate them), and adds a bit more of a realistic outlook on how long dynasties last. i.e. the karlings will die out after 100-120 years of gameplay naturally. I would recommend trying it out and draw your own conclusions, because honestly i'm not here to compete with dark ages :). I made this for those who like a bit of difficulty, but not lose your dynasty after 10-20 years.
kapsellola 14 Feb @ 7:50am
What's the difference between this mod and Dark Ages and are both compatible?
CaptainSlapster  [author] 15 Jan @ 6:24pm
Delacroix: Absolutely! It'll be pushed out at a later time, because I am taking a break from this project and putting focus on my "bigger project". To Obsidious: I appreciate the feedback. I'll take that into consideration and most likely have the Diseases and events be separate. I'll be honest the later start dates have issues due to development(mostly since development increases outbreak frequencies.), but that's the price to pay for now. I still have some localization for events to work out and I want to expand some things more. I have just started Uni so it'll be hard to balance, but I won't forget to give updates when I can!
Delacroix  [author] 13 Jan @ 12:00am
I made korean localization file of this mod. Could you corporate my file in this mod?
Obsidious 28 Dec, 2024 @ 8:33pm
This is honestly fascinating. I can't wait to try it out, just to see how it changes the game experience; fewer, more meaningful outbreaks sound very welcome, especially for larger, more static realms, and I really enjoy focusing in on medicine as part of the story.

It also sounds like the mod is almost becoming an overall mortality patch with the falling down the stairs and pregnancy/infant mortality additions. That's interesting in and of itself, though it may be worth gameruling those other elements for those who just want the core plague changes (the latter especially, even though it's close to the main theme).

CaptainSlapster  [author] 28 Nov, 2024 @ 6:56am
absolutely, I have adjusted it a bit more since I released this update.
Miketantinople 27 Nov, 2024 @ 8:58pm
hey there, could you maybe reduce the chance of children dying from SIDS? I got 6 kids dying in a row and my game ended in like 50 years :(
HeirandtheSpare 16 Nov, 2024 @ 10:08pm
Glad I could help :-)
CaptainSlapster  [author] 16 Nov, 2024 @ 9:47pm
v I'll keep that in mind and roll out a fix for that at a later point. Ty for the feedback!
HeirandtheSpare 16 Nov, 2024 @ 9:18pm
This sounds really interesting, but actually being around farm animals increased immunity to many diseases and strengthened the immune system. It's one of the reasons why the Native Americans were so devastated by diseases from Europeans in the United States- because they didn't live with farm animals the way most Europeans did. If anything, coming into contact with more people increased diseases. It would make sense if buildings such as marketplaces, guild halls and trade districts brought diseases, not farms. Other than that this mod looks really interesting.
