it was intentional. M5 you have a cruiser squadron plus escorts. I recommend spending slightly more time micro'ing aircraft.
correct me if I'm wrong here, the training level only effects Ship DCP efficiency. Not land units at all.
negative. M3 intent was to simulate a landing force that thought the beaches were clear only to discover too late the enemy was laying in wait.

as far as AI problems, ez reset is to put the misbehaving unite on "weapons hold" which cancels all other orders. other than that there is not much I can do.
