Hide Player on Map and Center to Center

I'll see what I can do when I get a chance, and it's good to know that it at least works when it comes to everything else. The centering was always a little wonky, so maybe they have some new updated system for the centering that is better for modding.

I have a save ongoing in normal mode and I don't really feel like starting over just for that (+ I really don't like the mandatory negative perks that you have to chose). I wish Warhorse allowed players to disable the map/markers dynamically instead of forcing players to start a new game.

Anyway, this mod still works (except for the map centering), so that's that ! It would great if you find the time to fix it, but I don't want to rush you hehe. I'm already grateful for what's there.

Unfortunately this mod is now outdated as well. I would like to fix it as many people are playing regular game mode, but I haven't gotten a chance to get into it yet.

What this mod does is in hardcore mode already, so if you want to jump into that you'll get it. If not, you'll have to wait until I get my act together.

Hey Lawh, thanks for the mod ! And thanks to Derpaholic who pointed people from Scout's outdated mod to here !

I have a question : when opening the map, it centers on where the player is and zooms in to a point where it's extremely easy to pinpoint the player location. Is it intended ?
This kinda ruins the point. Do you know if it is possible to change that behaviour ?

So long as they don't get into each others' way, they should function like they didn't know where they came from. Hardcore mod should give us exactly what we want, and mods can tweak them a little further.

Thanks man, yeah I found a way to get what I was looking for by using bits of a broken mod that still worked lmao. I also pointed people over there to here in case others were looking for the same effect. I'm surprised how well it turned out honestly, iv'e never really used mods from the workshop AND nexus - I usually do one or the other but hey... it works!

I tried replying but Steam was down. Scout's mod does a lot of the things you wished for, although this mod and I think his mods might be for the pre-1.2 version, meaning that some things work differently now.

There are a couple of mods in my Steam Workshop that you can have a look at as well if needed.

Couldn't find a way to edit my comment but anyone looking for what I was I found a solution. You can use this mod in combination with 2 optional files from the nexus mod called Scout Hardcore mode. https://www.nexusmods.com/kingdomcomedeliverance2/mods/91?tab=posts&BH=0

Grab No Compass and No Fast Travel from the optional files and they all work well together with this mod.

I'm currently using this as a way to emulate having no map like KCD1's hardcore mode. This mod does exactly what it says it does in the description so there's no problem there. Those looking to emulate KCD1 hardcore modes navigation would need more things such as removing the dog icon, the compass, and the ability to right click a flag to the map or just lose the compass altogether to achieve that. This mod alone isn't enough to stop you from easily navigating the world. Is there another mod we could use in combination with this to get that effect?

If you download the modding tools, there is a documentation zip file in there. I had a little look at it but I am not familiar with KCD modding much. There is also the Discord server which I have yet to utilize.

I was poking around the files in your mod but need some help understanding the API. Is there any documentation?

It seems to center on the player and zooms all the way in. I don't know how it works if you are in nature. It seems that a few things changed since the 1.2 update.
agent_TO 16 Mar @ 5:57pm
In KCD1 zooming in/out was centered on where the player was but that isn't the case with KCD2. Zooming follows the cursor now, so if you start fully zoomed out you'll get an idea of where you are but won't know precisely where you are.
Lawh  [author] 16 Mar @ 6:47am
I can make that once I get a chance. The cursor could then reveal your location. Another way would be to unbind the key that centers on the player which would be nice. However for some reason if you make a keybinding through a mod, other mods that require keybindings will notwork properly without manually combining the keybindings. You could remove the keybinding for centering that that might work, but not sure.

Mod works great, but can you make a version that only hides the player/dog/godwin but still opens on the player position like normal?
Lawh  [author] 15 Mar @ 4:23pm
Yeah it resets. I am looking into it right now to see if I can sort out a better system, because the zoom no longer works and it closes in towards the map after every reopening as well.

I was able to try out the current version of the upcoming hardcore mode and in it, the cursor stays where it was last time and the map icons were hidden, so it is possible to get working smoothly. I am looking at possible scripts now to make it happen before the release of the hardcore mode. If I can't figure it out, then we will at least have it I think next month through official release.

Actually, scratch that, it isn't fine if you sit still either, I just got lucky the first few times I guess.
Michael 15 Mar @ 3:59pm
Unfortunately Kuttenberg map is opening to the bottom right corner. It's fine if you sit still and just repeatedly open and close the map, it will open up to the same position as last time. If you move after opening the map, it will then open up in the bottom right corner next time.
Lawh  [author] 15 Mar @ 8:30am
After taking a look, it seems that things have changed a little. I'll see if I can find the new location of the settings and do something about it but it might be that I don't have time. Hopefully the zoom still works in Kuttenberg as it was annoying to zoom out every time you were looking for something.
Lawh  [author] 15 Mar @ 5:36am
That would be optimal, but I couldn't get it to work last time I tried. I'll have another look today if I get a chance.
Kewada 15 Mar @ 12:47am
for map open, it should open in the left corner when first opened (after restart game).
after that if opened again where u last closed the map.
H3ad1amp 14 Mar @ 9:25pm
love to hear that
Lawh  [author] 14 Mar @ 7:26pm
I noticed that the zoom was too close in the first region when I tested it today. I didn't get the opening centering to work, but I had the zoom working in Kutternberg before the 1.2 patch. This is a straight reupload from Nexus Mods from pre 1.2, so I'll have a look tomorrow whether they changed something and the zoom was broken or if it only works in Kuttenberg.

I'll try to remember to notify you here tomorrow once I get a chance to have a look at it.
H3ad1amp 14 Mar @ 6:56pm
it works great! is it possible to make it open on the center of the map zoomed out, instead of the edge of the map?
Lawh  [author] 14 Mar @ 10:03am
Tested and should work now.
Kewada 14 Mar @ 9:42am
dont work.
marker is still perfectly fine on the map.
