@Swiss Helberdier

Great to read you. Hope everyhting safe and sound. :) And thanx - that makes sense. Got it.
Swiss Halberdier 26 Oct, 2020 @ 9:39am
@Ryan
Yes Steam "thinks" if there is no change in the size of the file (in regard edits within it), then it doesn't update it normally.

And then the mod shows as "outdated", even if the mod still works like yours. I got the same issue on some of my mods. They all work fine but it shows "outdated". This happen evertime if Creative Assembly updates the TW Mod launchers normally.

So no worries it should work fine even it shows "outdated".
Ryan  [author] 25 Oct, 2020 @ 12:05pm
I think I updated that mod - but Steam does not show this. I have no clue if it shows on your end - my launcher tells me it has updated.
Did not change anything to the files.
Swiss Halberdier 27 Feb, 2019 @ 7:35am
@Daxie
Then I don't know why your ETW crashes.

@Ryan
Sorry for spamming here my help suggestions on your thread. But they are also helpful for your mod users and Rome 2 players.
Wulf 26 Feb, 2019 @ 10:41am
Done that, still crashes, thing is it worked yesterday... and ive not changed anything.
i also didnt have a folder called "army_setups" in my files
Wulf 26 Feb, 2019 @ 10:34am
oh ok, ill try that then, thanks
Swiss Halberdier 26 Feb, 2019 @ 9:24am
@Daxie

Or try this too:

If the custom battle screen crashes, then please remove all files in these two folders below:

C:\Users\Yourname\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Empire\battle_preferences

C:\Users\Yourname\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Empire\army_setups

Both recommendations are a good start for EVERY Total War game if it crashes.
Swiss Halberdier 26 Feb, 2019 @ 9:23am
@Daxie
Empire Total War doesn't have a similar issue and there is no existing mod like this needed. Your crash in the custom battle screen of Empire Total War must come from another issue.

Try this:

> Open Steam > click on my games > right-click on Empire > left-click on properties > then look for the Local files tab and click on Verify the integrity of the game cache

There you can re-check the integrity of your Empire files. It takes some time, but after updating you have again all proper vanilla files.
Wulf 26 Feb, 2019 @ 9:10am
anywhere i can find an empire total war version of this? if it even exists

Pssst @random reader:
(If you want to have a pro-tip to play outdated mods (mainly units):

- Locate the folder Steam/Steam Apps/Workshop/Content

- One of the folders (with digit numbers) is your Rome 2 TW
- inside of that are multiple folders of mods you had/have installed.
- if there is no pack and png file there is a bin file
- open the bin file with an editor and look for the corresponding mod

- now go to your Steam/Common/RomeII/Data folder
- there should be an old version of your missing mod (pack & png)
- copy (!) pack and png to the digit-folder to the bin file
- maybe do a copy of the bin file - somewhere? (I did not test this).
- start the launcher - if it displays the mod with a warning it is loaded

- try out if the game works with your 'old' mod - my Just Tribesmen - did without any problem
- carful! Outdated map changes crash the game - but then get rid of the files at the new location an it should run as normal.

This tip you use on your own risk!

~ have fun :-)

+Updated the mod*

CA changed the modding-folder of Rome II - what I was not aware about, till somebody knocked on my door and said: Can you please, update the Germanic Tribes mod and after 2 hours of my life-time I figuered that out. So I gave out wrong information - it is updated now and should appear in your Steam/Workshop folder like all other TW Rome 2 - mods.
Lucky you. Lucky me. :-)

Use this mod still at your own risk. I got it included in the Germanic Tribes mods and assume some other modders grabbed it as well. Fired multiple mods up together and it was all working.
:-).

Have fun.
Ryan  [author] 17 Aug, 2018 @ 4:25pm
Thanks Swiss. :) You are the best.

@Random reader - if you see this mod not updated it does not matter. Should work. It just looks a little stupid in the launcher, that's it. This is why Swiss Halberdier is so freaking awesome. I would not say it if I don't mean it - and why do you think I do? See. :) I'll get it updated so that it looks pretty again. But that's it. There is no more magic behind the scenes going on.^^
Swiss Halberdier 9 Aug, 2018 @ 10:48am
@Ryan
Again a new patch and DLC have been released for Rome 2. I looked at the CB crash fix table and it seems there is no need to change or add anything. There are still only 34 rows with the prefix mp_* and your Custom Battle Crash Fix is still fully working.
Stephen The Great 16 Apr, 2018 @ 10:09pm
update pls?
Ryan  [author] 15 Mar, 2018 @ 2:40pm
So far I know, Dan - look at Swiss Halberdier's update - doesn't it matter at all.... but I mean if I have some time on the weekend - I can upload it so that it looks like in your mod-browser up-to-date... because this just works different.
Swiss Halberdier 15 Mar, 2018 @ 2:40pm
@Dan the Nord King
Yes it works as well with patch 19.
Dan the Nord King 15 Mar, 2018 @ 1:49pm
sorry i meant to ask about patch 19?
Swiss Halberdier 13 Mar, 2018 @ 1:09pm
@Dan the Nord King
It should still work with the new patch as there hasn't been a change to the related database table.
Dan the Nord King 13 Mar, 2018 @ 12:59pm
update for patch 18?
Swiss Halberdier 11 Mar, 2018 @ 3:03pm
@Ryan
Thanks and I informed you as always with pleasure. Yes all is fine and my adaption and needed enhancement of your fix for Attila still works.

Steam thread:

Total War center thread with additional information for all Attila modders how to do it:

Of course I mentioned you with credits in both threads. :-)

If another Rome 2 patch will be released, then I will inform you again of course.
Ryan  [author] 11 Mar, 2018 @ 2:20pm

Greetings
Swiss Halberdier 1 Dec, 2017 @ 10:08am
Thanks Ryan and it was a pleasure to check it as your mod is just so crucial for Rome 2 :-) And also for my own adapted version of your mod for Attila.
Ryan  [author] 30 Nov, 2017 @ 11:32am
You are awesome - thank you, Swiss Halberdier.
Swiss Halberdier 30 Nov, 2017 @ 7:45am

The new patch and the DLC are here. I looked at the CB crash fix table and it seems there is no need to change or add anything. There are still only 34 rows with the prefix mp_*.

@Ryan
Thanks and I thought I want to inform you. :-)

https://steamhost.cn/app/694880/

There is a beta-patch available and so I checked our important CB crash fix database table and so far it didn't changed in terms of the fix. :-)
Ryan  [author] 15 Nov, 2017 @ 12:30pm
@Swiss Halberdier -
Wow. Thank you. I was totally not aware about that this is coming, so - no - I have not heard.^^
Awesome and thanks again!
Swiss Halberdier 15 Nov, 2017 @ 8:15am
@Ryan
As you probably heard already CA releases a new big Rome 2 DLC with a huge patch. Basically I downloaded already the pre-beta patch and so far it seems the "Custom Battle Crash Fix" table and our used values didn't changed. As I use your fix in my AUM-ROM units mod too. I will inform you asap if something needs to be changed after the release.
Demon Dog 7 May, 2017 @ 4:24am
THANK YOU! this stopped the crashing for custom battle and when I click on epirus
Ryan  [author] 15 Aug, 2016 @ 12:29pm
Then contact a priest, NASA or Steam customer support to get contact to Valve - as you have found a prove for magic or the first development of an artifical intelligence, many people with money would be interested to obtain. You are a rich man and I am not even kidding.
medianempire3 15 Aug, 2016 @ 10:49am
This didn't work and it messed up my desktop.
Ryan  [author] 25 Jan, 2016 @ 4:06am
I think that the Radious guys are in that thread here as well. I would not wonder if they already use it, - if not - go ask them why, because they do know better than I do (as they do know their mod better than everybody else). Otherwise I would say: Nope. No problem.
If there is a reason, the concerning unit modders know why, better than anybody else. :)
bravoechonovember99 24 Jan, 2016 @ 2:02pm
Does this mod conflict with Radious?
PerKan 27 Nov, 2015 @ 3:55am
Thanks man it worked for me.
I had problem with mods when i add more units with + icon it crashes now it doesn't
Thanks man :)
Swiss Halberdier 20 Oct, 2015 @ 2:35am

Frostღ 12 Oct, 2015 @ 9:55am
Hey Swiss, is there any possibility you could do it to Steam WOrkshop too :)
Swiss Halberdier 5 Oct, 2015 @ 4:27am
Thanks Paranoid!

Hello Ryan, thanks a lot to you too as you were the original creator. So it was obvious for me that I included you in the credits. :-)

I'm pleased that I could solve this issue for Attila. Sure I will inform all here as soon as I made the Steam thread for the Attila Custom Battle Crash Fix.

At the moment it is only downloadable via my TotalWarCenter link here:

How awesome is this. I do not even want to comment so that you are up here and everybody can read the good news.^^ Hey, let me know if you release it on steam, then I put a link up here - in case of guys like Paranoid look into here, so that they know where the candy is at.
Thanks for the kind credit and I could follow up what they changed. :-)
Great work. Awesome. Now you all can limitless enjoy that cool game where Germanic units have models with puttees and fur tunics. A Rome2 player's dream. Sniff.^^ tc
Swiss Halberdier 4 Oct, 2015 @ 2:11am
Hello Ryan, finally I found a way how to implement the "Custom Battle Crash Fix" into Attila too. :-)
It was an additional change in the db table "factions" needed. Thanks a lot again for your work in Rome 2 and I gave you credits in my TotalWarCenter thread.

http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?699714-Attila-Custom-Battle-Crash-Fix

I will release it soon on Steam.
Frostღ 26 Sep, 2015 @ 2:10am
Ah :/ Well appreciate the answer man. Thanks anyway. Have a nice weekend :)
Ryan  [author] 25 Sep, 2015 @ 10:41pm
Sorry, for the late reply. No I have not, but as Swiss Halberdier pointed out - and you can bet that these guys could easily do it, if they would know where the prob is - seems something has changed from Rome2 to Attila. This here is a really very easy thing, the main prob was to find it. It's really not advanced modding, it was just about to locate the problem. Anybody could have found it. Has not much to do with know-how. Sorry. :(
