Nah, i play only singleplayer. and i want to use both of these. the vanilla for doors and such, and yours for other things.
Digi  [author] 26 Jan @ 10:09am
You can use the vanilla replacement one (linked in description) which replaces the visuals on the vanilla one, which won't break builds if you remove the mod or use the build in a server that doesn't have it.

I love your design more, than in game one tbh
Vrathyas 13 Jul, 2024 @ 3:45pm
I remember, when this mod arrived....it changed everything. Thank you for that!
Digi  [author] 19 May, 2023 @ 7:02pm
Yeah, turn rotor off and make sure brake torque is 0, then it moves freely. This applies to all rotors, including hinges (this and vanilla ones too).
SMooreAce 19 May, 2023 @ 10:34am
Its a rotor, what can a rotor do? Passively it will do exactly what everything does... follow gravity to its least resistant state and sit. Forever
liontamer45 19 May, 2023 @ 10:26am
would this work as a passive thing instead of trying to manually move the conveyor? cause i wanna make a snake ship and i want it to move freely
SMooreAce 28 Jan, 2023 @ 5:38am
Friggin Awesome! Thanks Digi!!
ABlueHairedFox 28 Jan, 2023 @ 2:41am
Thanks! It's the flexible tubes along with the angles on the side that does it for me
Digi  [author] 27 Jan, 2023 @ 11:44pm
I've made a separate mod that replaces the vanilla models with these ones (tweaked to have same orientation, same colliders as vanilla, simplified script just for animation, no changes to mounts/comps/etc)

I think there's still value in using this mod as a reskin kinda mod. The model for this mod in my opinion looks better than the vanilla hinge
Rusted Droid 22 Dec, 2022 @ 4:22pm
Today when i used your hinges i noticed how rubber part follow the moving part.
That is neat detail.
Using your rubber trick you can make suspension that can extend like piston.
Basically the base of suspension will have piston like moving part that stretch and you can extend wheel more far without need large base like vanilla suspension have.
Similiar like this guy done but it is missing sretchy part

NEVER FORGET THESE AMAZING BLOCKS!!!!
Wygos 9 Sep, 2022 @ 4:27am
These are so beautiful i still use them instead of keen....
That rubber pipe in the middle looks just soooooo great.

It is better to ask original author that have source files compared to mess with their stuff or try to re-create stuff without sources.
I ask and thank you for reply.
Digi  [author] 21 Apr, 2022 @ 9:54am
You should find someone in the keen discord to make a model for you if that's what you want, I'm not really interested in making more hinges.
Rusted Droid 21 Apr, 2022 @ 9:45am
This is example what i am after. It is low effort mod to make 2 block rotor that works with merge block. For your hinge you must redo the models and add offsets.

Rusted Droid 21 Apr, 2022 @ 9:37am
Maybe 1 day you reconsider and make 2 block hinge version for ability to use with merge block.
Merge block need to to have blocks in grid and vanilla hinge is 2 block in single block space.
Also for rail mods i use, i was searching for hinge that has axis between 2 blocks for making rail switch mechanism.
Digi  [author] 21 Apr, 2022 @ 7:05am
They're both advanced rotors so it's already a "skin" :P but it would still require the script to animate the tube or it'll look horrible :}
BevansDesign 20 Apr, 2022 @ 8:44pm
I still think this is a really cool mod, and it'd be neat if this was rebuilt as a "skin" of the baseline hinge block.
[Gerold] 19 Apr, 2022 @ 8:49am
i agree with Rusted, Keen's are ok but yours are so much cooler looking
Rusted Droid 14 Feb, 2022 @ 11:11am
This hinges look more cinematic than KeeN Copy-pasta ones.
MustHaveMod
Pospero 13 Feb, 2022 @ 3:29pm
Yes this mod is a must have and used it on my designs because of the look. I wish to have is still functional if possible and thank you for the hard work.
SMooreAce 10 Feb, 2022 @ 8:50am
If for no other reason, yours look 100% better!
Digi  [author] 10 Feb, 2022 @ 7:50am
Please keep it civil :}

And anyone still using it, try to change to the vanilla ones and if those have problems, I'm sure keen would like to hear about those so they can fix'em :P Or heck, maybe modders can fix'em too, if there's reports on vanilla hinge problems link'em here to spread the word =)
SMooreAce 10 Feb, 2022 @ 7:32am
Even if youre 100% correct, WTF are you to make such a stupid demand? F off!
Dots 10 Feb, 2022 @ 2:56am
@One Canadian Derg* - you will NEVER get updates from this mod as this mod is obsolete by vanilla now. Stop asking for updates please
Dehydrated my sister 20 Sep, 2021 @ 2:45pm
Can you continue to update this mod? Turns out the hinges you made are a lot more stable than the one Keen made.

@hunterdigi Your hinges look great as gas line. More real and for hand manipulation.
Only game not support hand manipulation.

KEEN make vanila ones based on this GIF
seronis 12 May, 2021 @ 5:44pm
Just another vote mentioning that this is better than what keen did so hope you consider keeping it updated
SMooreAce 10 May, 2021 @ 4:34am
Spellcheck for the win!

Judge Kronos 10 May, 2021 @ 3:26am
I still thing this mod is better than the vanilla ones. (these definately look better. Sorry developers)

The Vanilla ones keep shaking and doing wierd stuff. and they are awkward to use. You need to have buildvision or ther are a nightmare to set. This has a nice control panel on it... Well thought out mod.

I wished this was directly implemented.

@author: Maybe someone will be willing to update this....
Digi  [author] 25 Apr, 2021 @ 10:24am
Nice :P

The lift power thing is the same on all rotors (vanilla hinges are rotors too same as this mod).
The cause is the game limits torque to the directly attached grid's mass, squared.

So if you only have a piston on the large hinge then it'll be ~980kg which means 980*980 = 960400 N-m max torque (961 kN-m), which is far lower than the default 33.6 MN-m xD

If you can replicate the unlimited angle stuff you should bugreport it on keen's support site :P
Neotix 25 Apr, 2021 @ 9:02am
I'm still using that mod because it's much better than vanilla hinges. First of all it have access terminal and don't have to search entire list to find that specyfic hinge. It have visual indicator for positive/negative angles. Second it works better. Vanilla hinges have strane gehaviours. Angle limits can be set to Unlimited, sometimes they have no power to lift single piston with a drill (it broke my setup several times). Hinges from this mod never fail me. Only they fragile look sometime don't correspond with other blocks.
Juper0 21 Mar, 2021 @ 11:55am
can this be altered to grow out to 3 or 4 blocks? or be 2x2 on the bases?
SMooreAce 12 Feb, 2021 @ 3:09pm
Can you maybe suck start an Audi?
£6lbs._onion 26 Jan, 2021 @ 1:37am
Ngl, the block models of this mod makes more sense when it comes to using it as a conveyor joint.
Would you mind making a version of this mod as a block model replacer for the new Vanilla Hinges?
Vas 24 Jan, 2021 @ 2:47pm
Perhaps you can make a mod that updates the base game Hinge to have your Plus and Minus on both sides of the build model? The base game one has this tiny barely visible mark on it. I'd like your + and - on it. I do like Base Game's a little better with how it looks model wise, but I need the visual representation of its directions.
×TH3RØØKIE× 20 Jan, 2021 @ 5:30pm
Thanks for this mod. I used it well before hinge came in 195 and you did an amazing job.
Totally Not An Illuminate Spy 1 Jan, 2021 @ 10:31pm
I just wanna say thank you for making this. it was always a mandatory mod in any game I played. Personally, I find the model you made for your hinge to be better looking than Keen's. That flexy tube in the middle... :3

And yeah, please consider keeping it updated, as the vanilla hinge is more limited in a couple of ways(E.g., the small one doesn't do resource transfer).
Wallard 12 Dec, 2020 @ 6:42pm
Although, I understand the huge amount of time spent on these mods.. so I wouldnt be upset if you decided to stop sutpporting it.. and Thank you very much for giving us hinges for over 5 years before Keen decided to finally give them to us :)
Wallard 12 Dec, 2020 @ 6:40pm
Just adding my two cents: It would be really nice to keep this working, as I have several builds using your hinges, and it would be a pain in the ass to convert them all to vanilla hinges this far into their respective design stages.
KrazyIvanUS 6 Dec, 2020 @ 9:56am
Please keep this updated. I have found that the small grid vanilla hinges do not allow ore through them. I tried to make an articulating land driller with hinges and it would not pick up ore because of the vanilla hinges.
AlexanderTheWorst 9 Nov, 2020 @ 11:48am
would you be interested to keep them, updating (if they would need it) as alternate appearance? as a skin over the vanilla one? too pretty to let it get buried
Dehydrated my sister 15 Oct, 2020 @ 3:45pm
Thanks for the mod, I'm a keep it real with you, your design is way better in my opinion
Cyr0 20 Sep, 2020 @ 5:53am
Thanks for this mod Digi o/
Santibag 12 Sep, 2020 @ 11:02am
I don't know if I will continue using these. But I came here to thank you for the nice hours you let us have with this beautiful mod.
>DINKY< StickJock 25 Jul, 2020 @ 9:49am
These models feel nicer than the Vanilla ones for a lot of practical uses, especially for vector thrust and other scripted dampening systems. I'm going to keep subscribed to this and use both hinges in my games. Really respect your mod and I'm glad Keen finally caught on to this.
spiritplumber 24 Jul, 2020 @ 5:25pm
Praise Digi!
