And by the way: you don't have to be an A.I. programer to spot a bad A.I. That's like going to a movie reviewer like Roger Ebert and saying: "Oh no Mr. Ebert, you are not allowed to review this movie, because you don't procude movies."
You get the point?
I also have two friends who also play both Medieval 2 and Rome 2. One started with Rome and only later played Medieval. The other one started with Medieval 2 and then moved on to Rome. And BOTH of them say: "Damn, Rome 2 feels unfinished, Medieval 2 was better."
And they are right: the battles are more tactical, feel more polished although Medieval 2 is so old. Wars are like actual wars and not simply: defeat the one fullstack army of the A.I. and then capture their only city by autoresolving. That is the Rome 2 way.
You don't know the first thing about AI programming so stop insulting CA as if you could do better. And if you do know how to code, by all means, please share your work with us so we can critique it and call you incompetent.
Have some respect for yourself and CA, especially CA if you want them to listen to you.
You are utterly delusional if you honestly believe the AI for sieges/land battles in R1/ME2 were better than what we find in later games (except Empire). Rome 1' and ME2's AI was terrible along with its pathing. You could defend a gated city easily with a single phalanx or pike unit covering the entryway or a bridgehead; they would happily march their units right into your pikes and die.
also I don't really notice differences
