Setrus has some issues in real life nowadays so he can't keep up with the Rome II's updates that come every 3 years. @Jambalaya @✦Skarekrow✦

This mod sounds really cool! Thanks for your effort! I always dislike those arty spams or ranged units spams becuase it is just so generic. I want to fight Gaul and Carthage. Not arty and arty.

爱党敬业 2 Feb, 2020 @ 10:54pm
Please update this great mod
setrus86  [author] 18 Nov, 2019 @ 9:39am
It won't crash them, as far as I know, but its effect will be less pronounced in the newer dlc's as part of it won't affect those campaigns.
adventuremode 17 Nov, 2019 @ 7:02pm
Is this mod compatible with all dlc campaigns?
jopestus 21 Jun, 2019 @ 10:12pm
I actually like this particular mod. Now i can even lose to AI, since now they still have a lot more troops like before, but now they are no eastern spearmen, levy freemen or stuff.

Dear modder, have a beer and think what you have done. You have deserved it.
setrus86  [author] 3 Feb, 2019 @ 12:11pm
Well it would be the tables this mod changes, the unit-specific recruitment ones saying how much any specific unit is worth. Not sure, honestly, how much it actually affects things though.
Jason Wolf 3 Feb, 2019 @ 12:06pm
were would I go if I went and update it to the new factions? and thanks.
setrus86  [author] 3 Feb, 2019 @ 12:04pm
To a degree. Haven't updated it to specific new factions, but "rates" of troops should still be "correct". :)
Jason Wolf 3 Feb, 2019 @ 6:35am
does this still work with patch 20?
setrus86  [author] 23 Dec, 2018 @ 11:01am
I rather doubt it. :-/
ExPR 23 Dec, 2018 @ 8:03am
Dei compatible?
setrus86  [author] 24 Oct, 2018 @ 10:25am
The AI will hire what it has available, as I recall of Rome 2. So if it has an army of junk, it can't disband them or change them, so they'll be around until they're wiped out. And if the AI doesn't have buildings that unlock good units, it can't recruit them.
That said, if it has access to the units and are recruiting, then yes, they should start pouring in those better units.
Do note that I've linked 3 of my mods in the description that I've made that I admit might have affected the images to varying amounts.
Essentially, the better the tools at the Ai's disposal, the better it does. :)
:{BabyloN_PaladiN}: 23 Oct, 2018 @ 11:00pm
Looks Great, but will the ai hire elite units in late game ? Like you shown in the pictures ?
setrus86  [author] 26 Aug, 2018 @ 12:39am
Yes. :)
Jason Wolf 25 Aug, 2018 @ 10:18am
Does this still work?
setrus86  [author] 5 Jan, 2018 @ 11:49pm
It doesn't affect empire divided by changing any preferences of its units, but it might slightly affect it by promoting certain balances of units (because whether empire divide or ceasar in gaul, melee infantry is melee infantry), but the effect would be limited, I think.
You don't need to start a new campaign for it to take effect, no, but armies already fully recruited won't be affected until those armies lose units or are destroyed, since the AI doesn't dismiss units and recruit new ones. So you can keep it in the middle of the campaign, but the effect might not be visible for a long while as armies recruited beforehand keep running around.
SG 5 Jan, 2018 @ 12:58pm
And also does it require a new campaign.
SG 5 Jan, 2018 @ 12:58pm
Does this work for empire divided?
WolfgangKrauser 9 Dec, 2017 @ 6:25am
I can now comment on the quality of the mod itself.

It is EXCELLENT. I would consider this a must-have mod, and I am currently using 71 mods simultaneously.
WolfgangKrauser 8 Dec, 2017 @ 2:44pm
Believe it or not, this mod actually DOES work with Patch 17. I can't yet comment on how good of a mod it is, but I can tell anyone wondering: yes, this mod (despite being updated for Patch 18) actually works with Patch 17, unlike Litharion's. Guess somewhere along the way hers touches something that this one does not.
WolfgangKrauser 2 Dec, 2017 @ 2:06pm
That's exactly what Litharion did, and yet in so doing it broke a campaign I was doing. Completely. Her mod presumably uses the same tables and areas as yours.
setrus86  [author] 2 Dec, 2017 @ 11:31am
Well I'm not sure how to do one that wouldn't have a warning about compatibility now because it's technically "patch 18 compatible", but I can tell you that what I literally did, without changing ANYTHING in the mod, was click "update" in my mod browser. While "updated", it's EXACTLY the same with the same data, so it really should affect a patch 17 game. :-)
WolfgangKrauser 2 Dec, 2017 @ 9:17am
I'm asking for the exact opposite. Many of us don't wish to update to Patch 18 because it breaks a great many mods, and many such mods are no longer being updated, as their creators are no longer active and/or willing to continue updating. Therefore, when a mod like Litharion's (and presumably yours) is actually updated, we are forced to choose between your one recruitment mod, and dozens upon dozens of other great mods that are only compatible with Patch 17.

So, I am asking if you would be willing to create a version of this mod that is as it was prior to you updating it yesterday; a version that is compatible with Patch 17.
setrus86  [author] 2 Dec, 2017 @ 9:11am
I haven't done anything to stop the AI from recruit modded units, no. Though nor have I in any way promoted the recruitment of any (there's just so many...) so while the AI should be able to recruit them, I'm not sure how many it would recruit, if that makes sense?

Well mine's updated for everything but the empire divided campaign (so won't affect it) since I don't yet have that dlc, if that's what you're asking? :)
WolfgangKrauser 2 Dec, 2017 @ 8:58am
I assume that, unlike Phalangitis' recruitment mod, yours has no trouble with the AI recruiting modded units (custom units)? You mention that yours affects recruitment of standard vanilla rosters. Phalangitis makes it clear that his mod doesn't allow the AI to "see" unit mods, and thus recruit them.

If, indeed, yours is different, and your AI does recruit unit mods, would you be willing to create a Patch 17 version for those of us who were burned when Litharion updated Better Recruitment AI to Patch 18? I would really appreciate it!
setrus86  [author] 8 Nov, 2017 @ 10:21pm
I hope to.
Heljumper117 8 Nov, 2017 @ 12:26pm
@Setrus86 will you be updating for the new DLC?
Super Mean Agent 19 Jun, 2017 @ 12:35am
Very well, thanks for your effort yea make them spam less archers and more Meelecavalry.
setrus86  [author] 18 Jun, 2017 @ 11:45pm
Small update, it might help by telling the AI to give the shock cavalry for steppe factions a higher ratio. Depends on buildings though. :-/ :-)
Super Mean Agent 18 Jun, 2017 @ 5:46pm
Cheers, do you best man. The mod already is very well done but fighting with nomads is insane as they only spam horse archer and your army get shredded in pieces by arrows.
setrus86  [author] 18 Jun, 2017 @ 10:51am
What did you expect from a nomad army? ;) I'll see what I can do, but unfortunately it sometimes depend a lot on what buildings the faction has available...

setrus86  [author] 11 Jul, 2015 @ 11:10am
I usually update the mods after the patch actually goes live, because if I do it now I'll end up making those not in the beta getting it "incompatible" (which is just a warning sign on the launcher, not actually disabling the mod) But I'll see what I can do, there's been some issues reported about mods using capital letters, after all...
CSIlva 11 Jul, 2015 @ 7:45am
can you upgrade it to patch 17 beta ? i would like to start a new campaign to test the beta but its not compatible any more
Savage 13 Jun, 2015 @ 4:46am
With this mod alone, I feel like I'm so much closer to playing the Rome 2 campaign that should be.
setrus86  [author] 28 Apr, 2015 @ 8:12am
Ah, thank you, a good idea. :-)
120AT 28 Apr, 2015 @ 6:13am
If it works to saved games , I think players will glad to it was written in description and you can avoid answer again and again . Sorry for my pool English.
Litharion 24 Apr, 2015 @ 10:36am
nice mod, good job :)
[GREEK-KLEOMENIS_III] 23 Apr, 2015 @ 11:21pm
Yea u are right! Thanks gives a better experience of the game this mod :)
setrus86  [author] 23 Apr, 2015 @ 7:32pm
Should be, but only for newly recruited armies, those with 20 units already will obviously not be affected. :)
[GREEK-KLEOMENIS_III] 23 Apr, 2015 @ 3:17pm
Does this works to saved games?
<!^!>~ Pocky ! <*=*> 21 Apr, 2015 @ 9:27pm
This very nice improvement for AI Thank you
Elveon 17 Apr, 2015 @ 11:53am
Thanks Setrus, you're the best!
Thunder Bagel 17 Apr, 2015 @ 9:55am
Excellent work. Good job, Setrus. Just what I was looking for
