Except when it doesn't work. I tried printing my Dragonfly Fighter, and it paused. I had everything correct, but it didn't work. I checked the timers, and nothing had a bar on it. I think it got messed up when it got to the programmable block.
What can I do to fix this?

I love a good printer!

I was getting ready to build one. Been watching some vids on the various ones out there. I see you are working on a new one. You got any ETA yet? Will it be any bigger? Buildable in survival, I realize that might take some extra effort but as long as it can be done. Should I wait? :)

I wish we could get the small grids working via Projectors. I had to copy just the frames but the buttons are not working :(

I went to creative mode and tested v.3 and it works perfectly. like the author says it does have some flaws but easily fixable. For one I can make it a lot bigger which is very easy to do. For viewing sake, I could make that control station a lot higher which should help placing the blueprint in the correct spot but besides that I think its good and small enough to do. Now I have to go in survival and build it which I don't even know if its going to work since it does say something about the rotor placement in survival...any tips on that part ?

Properties of IMySensorBlock has been changed on Beta.
Use Detect SubGrids("OnOff_On") "On" to make this blueprint work.
Thanks.

Just to give you all a little heads up, I've been working on the next ship printer and boy is it going to leave this one in the dust.

While it only has the capibility to hold 6 different ship (4 less than this one), it has the following features.

- 100% automated (after inital setup of the projectors)
- no starter blocks required
- automatic grinding of the the build stem (you still have to remove 2 small conveyor tubes)
- 4.5x faster than this printer (in 10x settings) this was a challenge to pull off.

And to make the printer easier to build I've eliminated the need to use the Rotor Trick, and built the core as a small ship. It contains all the projectors, timer blocks, and programing block. This allows the new printer to be built quite easily.

Should have it ready in some time this weekend so stay tooned.

See what I can do.

@Captain Awesome

Other than the big rotor top, little rotor bottom trick, its a pretty straight forward build.

I love this design, is there any chance you could make a build tutorial i would really like to understand it's ins and outs so i can build my own design around the same principels,

That's the plan. And to make sure you get both I'll make it a collection when the time comes.

Well you could make it into 2 blueprint files. One is for the Welder part and the second blueprint for the "small" part with the core and the so on. Shouldn't be too hard to attach since you can easily project the small core to a small ship and just cut the connection after placement is done. Unfortunately that 2 blueprints are needed but it's the easiest solution that comes to my mind

Well like I said this does have it's limitations and requires you to build it your self in a survival setting. Hense I am working on a new printer design that will I would like to accomplish the following goals.
1. Get the projectors and "core" on one grid that can easily be produced separate from the welding portion of the printer. (Thinking small ship with connectors, may have to add a part or two at a most).
2. Minimize the amount of work it takes to get the printer setup. (Goal should be to only need to create groups and a sign them to the appropriate timer block as needed).
3. Want to automate the process as much as possible. (Eliminate the need for the player to place starter block and cut them lose when finished). Only thing they player should have to do is the initial alignment of the projected ship.

3D Ship printers always are something to be careful with - you have to perfectly adjust the piston speed (otherwise there's the danger that it either doesn't weld to 100% or the danger that it welds faster than it moves and causes some severe damage) and you have to be careful with the length / width of the ships you print (some ships are larger than the pistons can extend, giving need for more pistons to improve the ability to extend. This causes another problem which I refer to in the next point). Next up, you might need more pistons per grid, because otherwise the stability is too weak. Especially when using multiple pistons for further extension. Last, but not least, when using a blueprint of the printer itself, you have to add many components manually since projectors aren't yet able to project multiple grids.

Overall, nice idea and not bad how you realized it^^
