Shame it doesn't work. This mod is really good
QuirKD6 6 Apr, 2018 @ 11:45am
Immediate crash on startup narrowed down to this mod by activating all mods 1-by-1 until crash. Confirmed to not be compatibility issue with another mod by deactivating all other mods except this one and still experiencing crash. Hope this helps. Cheers for all you work, regardless.

Narrowed down this mod to crash WOTC! =( Request for an update?

ditto, doesn't remove burning.

I'm on a mission that spawned my shinobi on fire. absolutely fantastic

Hmm, sadly the negate burning part doesn't work although the description is modified. Yes, even without LW2.
Element UK 9 Feb, 2017 @ 3:15am
Would be great to get it compatible with LW2 as its a real shame wasting medkit doses on burning.
WISCANSAN 8 Feb, 2017 @ 3:24pm
Remove burning doesn't seem to work with LW2, otherwise though it works as advertised.
Countess Vines 8 Feb, 2017 @ 5:20am
This works just fine for me with LW2 atm.
Brillig 5 Feb, 2017 @ 3:18pm
I've found with a recent update this mod is conflicting with LW2 unfortunately. I enjoyed its addition to the game. It was working with LW2, and a lot of other mods, then stopped. I spent some time isolating where the conflict was and it was with LW2. Any chance you will change/fix this any time? Cheers for your work :)

Ps is it working for other ppl with LW2? Is the problem just on my system?

Edit: the only other possible cause I can think of is that I installed the Shen DLC. Not sure if this coincided with the mod stopping working, but even if I uninstall the DLC the mod continues not to work if LW2 is active so I assume this isn't relevant.

When the enemy uses this, their defence boosts are not negated by flanking...
Nasarog 20 Jan, 2017 @ 2:02pm
Is this Long War 2 compatible?
Boisegangpc 14 Jan, 2017 @ 6:23pm
Does this replace the original Hunker Down or modify it?

Hi Melancholia! I have a heavily-modded install, but I was thinking of pickling this up, specifically because I was thinking that Hunkering should give a bonus to concealment and this mod does that (among other good ideas). How compatible is this mod with others? I know that ADVENT Avenger had to add code from Stop, Drop, and Roll into his Free Unit Drop and Carry. Does that mean that if I have that mod (I do) it is likely to conflict with this one?

Thank you for your modding work! Your Bleed Out mod have saved my bacon more than once. :)

STOP DROP ROLL, DUMBASS!: Ayyy the alien fireman.
SNAPCRACK 29 Jun, 2016 @ 7:02am
Made hunker a viable choice. Good job sir.
The BlackVision 26 May, 2016 @ 6:23am
For AI behaviours, there's a simple way to make them use it... making them use it when it's a good idea to- not so much. There's probably a way to get the branch to split at the point of choosing to fire to do a 'to hit' check and hunker if too low; but I suspect it'd have to be tuned to each unit template, which means it wouldn't apply to any modded enemies, and anything else changing them could interfere.

Might still be worth looking into as an optional extra mod though, if you wanted to put in the amount of time and effort to do so :P

Great job on what' been do so far either way though, invaluable mod, not sure how I missed it before- woudn't live without it now.

Melancholia I've been using this for a bit and I have to say it's pretty kewl. I did try working it into a project as well and while it's not quite the same anymore it's close and I wanted to thank you for giving the insight! :)
Element UK 12 Mar, 2016 @ 5:26am
I think its weird that the Commanders Avatar doesn't even have the option to Hunker down.
Xyptero 8 Mar, 2016 @ 4:09am
@Melancholia Cool, thanks for the info. If you or someone else makes a mod for it, I'd say there's an audience for it!
Emily  [author] 8 Mar, 2016 @ 2:55am
@Xyptero Giving it to them? Easy. Making them use it once they have it? That's the tricky part.
I can definitely make them use it when they panic, one of my other mods already does that, but I'll need to look more deeply into AI behaviour branches to figure out how to tell them when to use an entirely new ability.
Xyptero 7 Mar, 2016 @ 5:56am
@Melancholia that... is a very good point. How difficult to you think it would be to give it to them?
Emily  [author] 7 Mar, 2016 @ 4:26am
@Xyptero Alien/ADVENT units don't even have the Hunker Down ability.
Xyptero 6 Mar, 2016 @ 6:19pm
Looks great. Can you confirm that these changes modify how the AI treats the hunker down action? Are they now more likely to hunker at low health, and will they hunker to put out fires?
Element UK 21 Feb, 2016 @ 5:35am
very nice-cheers
Ergo The Proxy 21 Feb, 2016 @ 5:05am
Excellent work. One of the best mods I use, makes no sense that trained soldiers would run around on fire and not be awesome when hitting cover hard. Nice job on getting that fire bug too :)
Emily  [author] 21 Feb, 2016 @ 4:00am
Update! Hunker now affects sight radius and detection radius, all stats are completely configurable and I finally fixed the flame-effect graphical glitch!
Emily  [author] 21 Feb, 2016 @ 3:23am
@Element Xcom2 Operative
Invisible moves / attacks is a vanilla game bug. Save the game and reload.
Also I'm about to release a patch that fixes the lingering flame graphics.
Element UK 21 Feb, 2016 @ 3:14am
I like the idea of this mod but it causes a problem in my game. The Burning effect turns off but the flame stays on graphic-wise. Then I get invisible moves and attacks.

Would there be a way to increase the defence to +20 instead of +15?
-shhfiftyfive 12 Feb, 2016 @ 7:37pm
is this bleed just from burning?

if you haven't already, you should add ability to stop damage from poison too. really sucks when chryssalid hits you and you bleed for like 9 damage.
Briteblade 11 Feb, 2016 @ 2:23pm
I see you're working on a sight radius reduction, which I assume is for the XCom soldier as it was in the first game. Is it possible to make it so that Hunker Down actually reduces detection range for a unit as well/instead/some combination? Seems like ducking down behind a wall would make it harder to be spotted, and I want to play a bit more hide and seek with the aliens.

I think this is the first time I've felt the need to request something. Gold star for you, sir!
Soory Charlie 11 Feb, 2016 @ 12:49pm
This looks a little like power creep at first glance, but then I realized that the only time I've ever used hunker down is with VIPs. I don't think it's balance-breaking to make a feature actually viable, so I'll be looking forward to the completion of this mod!
Emily  [author] 11 Feb, 2016 @ 5:42am
On further inspection the sight radius change wasn't working properly, so I've updated the mod to remove reference to sight for now.

the stop drop and roll is probably my favorite part about this mod!
finaly i have an active reason to do this as a reaction rather than just doing it when i dont wanna overwatch instead. lol
sheep from hell 11 Feb, 2016 @ 3:19am
nice ideas here
Hyperlynx 11 Feb, 2016 @ 2:49am
Can you make a mod with just hunker down to remove burning, please?
