Rookies werent meant to get -any- abilities, it might break. I cant guarantee functioning with them. Sorry.

Not using that one; I have my VM fix covered by .ini edits.

I'm still fiddling around with files and all; I cannot even launch a new game for some reason...

Am not using *any* weapon packs. I'm toting the vanilla Cannon and there's no Suppression available.

@Ser Lancelot It works. As can be seen on this screenshot, with only this mod enabled. I can't support all weapon packs, you have to implement those yourself in the INI file.

Oh, boy, coming back to you again...Suppression is being grayed out on my Grenadiers...but they are toting Cannons and I checked your file, it's one of the allowed weapons. Help?

@kregano Your template names look correct, add them to the INI file and see if it works.

@kregano I just released a new version with simpler INI config

Quick notes:

Secondary weapons are not supported by this mod, the result is always "denied"

I just implemented defautl support for the SMG, see the INI

XCOM EU Tier 1, Advent Weaponry, Halo Reach weapons wont work youll have to find the template names and add them.

@ADVENT Avenger: I did add them via the .ini file. Suppression shows up on guns' info screens on the loadout menu and in the skill list on the tactical layer, but it can never be used. I dunno if the function just breaks if you get into triple digits, but it's not doing what it's supposed to be doing.

@kregano Pistols and SMGs are not valid Suppression weapons unless you add them yourself inside the INI file. You can select from the INI file what you want allowed or not.

The condition checks from the entire list, and if it finds the template's matching name, it allows the ability. If the template is not found, AKA you are not wielding an allowed template weapon, the weapon will show "Incompatible weapon".

Added Suppression to a lot of guns, but it keeps telling me they're not compatible, but they're all pistols/SMGs/rifles.

Also seems to have busted normal Suppression functionality if it's in the skill tree.

This mod prevents you from using Suppression if you have a Shotgun or a Sniper Rifle equipped, or the new Hunter Rifle if you leave it as-is.

You could attach Suppression to Rifles but that would require modding

Also, I would not mind if they did not keep the ability after the promote because it would only represent a temporary ability to new guys, who would spray and pray at the enemy because they did not know how to use their weapons very well until promoted into a class and trained up. But I'm not seeing a way to make this work in any event. Cutting and pasting is about all I'm capable of and this requires more mod/programming know-how than I possess.

If you give all rookies suppression once they rank up i think they will lose it.

Thanks. I just pasted the following into the rookie class in that file: "SoldierRanks=( aAbilityTree=( (AbilityName="Suppression", ApplyToWeaponSlot=eInvSlot_PrimaryWeapon)" and I'm hoping this will work without blowing up the game. We'll see soon enough, wish me luck.

I want rookies and up using assault rifles to use suppression fire from Gatecrasher on, i.e. from beginning of a new game. I'm not clear how to use this mod to accomplish that. Your help would be appreciated, thanks.

btw the _Diff_X are not needed for template names matching, as the diff_X is only used to read ini configs, they are still identified as their base template name.

@BlackVision -bg-'s mod is superior in that it uses the rifle animation, not the cannon animation attributed to everyone. You can install both however, its going to use the Rifle anim for rifles and the cannon anim for everything nonstandard.

Yes it does however if you install this as is and the required mod you dont need it unless you want to suppress with a pistol or something

Nice job. Do you know if it works with the other suppression animation fix mod? Think it's just called Suppression Fix or something.
