Cool map. A bit convoluted, but fun and interesting.

The map is designed that you need a cube, a redirection cube, and the sphere in the final area behind the panel the laser is currently touching. You are also allowed to go back to the final room early and observe what you need to get to the exit ahead of solving its puzzle. Since you cannot get access to the cube and redirection cube in the upper part of the level until you figure out how to disable the fizzlers in the shaft, its a pretty simple 1, 2, 3 sequence.

You're absolutely right Timoeeei: You are stuck down below the shaft until you solve all the puzzle elements down there in order to get access opened back up top. I stated that very clearly in the map description so that you would know ahead of time what to expect. I don't write map descriptions describing a catch in puzzle system without a reason!

U must give to a people an alternate way to the top. Like in my own lvl. Check it out by yourselff https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=72109339

Initially looked like a good map, but wtf!? What would be if i just jump to a bottom of the level without placing a ball to it's slot? . Right! I'll just stuck!

Couple last tweaks made. Hopefully we're now at the final-final-release. *fingers crossed*

Looks like a good map ! Let me finish my homework and I test it !

I've put in what I hope to be the final changes on this map early this morning. The room with the laser relay is easier to see into and interact with portals. I was informed that the turret room had an easy bypass to avoid being shot at by the turrets without the proper barrier. This is now fixed. Finally, I realized that getting the cube below the shaft could be done without using the speed gel, defeating the purpose of the puzzle. I added a fizzler in that hall to fix this and put portalable surfaces on the ceiling to allow goo to still spread behind the fizzler.

All in all, I hope this to be one of the final updates to the map and have it as close to a "final" release as possible. This may change if any future feedback spots final flaws in the system or I spot any other cheats/bypasses to the puzzles, but for the most part its all looking solid. Thanks to everyone who has helped out with their input to make this map the best it can be.

Decent map but frustrating as hell. I gave up when i realized that I'd have to go back and redo half of it.

Speed gel along the long corridor. Put a portal at one end and the other portal on the wall across from the item drop thing. You can get plenty of speed to just sprint along and fire yourself up there.

In response to people having a hard time seeing the funnel activate when you step on its button, I moved the funnel room up a level so that its now possible to turn in place on the button that activates it and see the funnel turn on. Hope that clarifies the issues with the long experimentation times on what the different buttons manipulate.

Also changed the final room up to the exit from glass panels into a fizzler. I was getting reports of getting the redirection cube stuck up there and having no way out. The fizzler, while not a pretty solution, will at least give you a way out and a way to destroy and respawn the cube that might have otherwise been stuck behind the glass panels.

Not exactly hard, but rather time consuming. It also takes quite some time to notice how the buttons operate the funnel. Overall, it's awesome. Congratulations.

Updates are in effect based on latest user feedback. Hopefully this makes a few things easier/clearer. The puzzles in the chambers below the shaft must now be completed in order to unlock the surface at the bottom of the shaft permanently. The funnel now requires you to stand on a button to activate it, in order to eliminate the possibility of using it to climb the shaft. You still need to use an infinite portal loop to climb back out of the shaft.

Contact me if you want specifics on the ways I got stuck in this map.

This puzzle has parts that are difficult to execute, parts that are timebased for no reason, many ways to die, many ways to get stuck, and since you don't know what's up ahead you may have to backrack several times and do some of the difficult and deadly stuff all over again. This map doesn't really require much puzzlesolving skills to complete, it requires you to have pre-existing knowledge of the map! Overall I thought this test was really frustrating and annoying. I'd recommend fixing some of the ways you can get stuck, remove some of the unneeded timebased elements and giving players more insight in what they'll need to do later on in the map.

The shaft is designed not to let you use the funnel to get back up; its designed to need an infinite portal loop to gain the momentum needed to use the surface that flips from the floor panel at the bottom of the shaft in projecting yourself all the way back up top.

Eagle32: How did you use the surfaces to get stuck across the water? I did my best to design only one of the ledges across the water to be accessible and its not supposed to be the ledge with the laser cube dispenser. I guess I could add a fence/glass wall around the laser cube platform to make it more obvious there should only be one point of access to the cube? Other than that I am at a loss.

Maybe I'm an idiot but I can't get back up the shaft with the funnel. The two cubes were easy to grab, but I can only disable one of the two fizzlers in the shaft from the bottom of it and even at full speed the momentum from the orange gel can't get you all the way up it either.

i am dling portal 2 now i got the discount

After going down the long shaft it's possible to get yourself over to where the object dispenser is across the water and get stuck there. Didn't try again, it sucks to get half way through a puzzle and then be in a position where you are trapped and have to start over again. Might try again latter, don't want to rate down but I can't rate it up either.

already downloaded this one, I should be here eventually. I have about 70 maps in my queue to go through.
DBladedPantz  [author] 12 May, 2012 @ 8:57pm
Alright. Surfaces changed to allow players to get out of the funnel room if they get stuck inside.
On another note, if you'd like a challenge, try the first map I made. Guaranteed to keep you guessing to the end, and needs some feedback:

Lol that isn't what I meant. Behind the grate with the Excursion Funnel is a Portalable wall allowing the player to getinto there, as soon as they do that they can place their second portal anywhere in that same room and become stuck.
DBladedPantz  [author] 12 May, 2012 @ 8:50pm
Ah I see your point. I will change the surfaces in the funnel room to allow you to get back up to the button up top.
Rubycario 12 May, 2012 @ 8:43pm
Pretty nice chamber! The only thing that got to me was the fact that the player could trap themself in the excursion funnel room. But other than that it was pretty good. :)

I will try out this map as soon as I can. I have about 50 or more maps in my queue, but I will get to this one eventually. Please check out mine if you get the chance.

I posted this map earlier this morning but took it down by accident due to some confusion with the software menus in one of the map updates. It's back up and working as intended. Sorry for any confusion or alarm if you lost the subscription to the map the first time I put it up.
