I dont know how unit audio works but alot of your orc units seem to let off generic "grunts" instead of responses

@Veni Vidi Vici i used the black orcs as a base to balance. black orcs have a low meelee attack, and a lower meelee defense. same is with the 2handed orc boys. you compare them to regular boys, and there is where you are wrong. regular ork boyz have very low armour (only 30) so the armour piercing damage of the great weapon boyz isn't as effective. if you put both versus armoured troops you will see that the great weapon version is much much better, as should be.

Your mods are the most balanced unit mods I have found for a modern TW game. That said, I think the two handed orcs need a little tweaking. They have a weaker weapon than the 1 handed orcs and they have a low atack boost compared to the massive defense skill drop. Maybe boost defense from 10 to 18, damage from 30 to 36, and drop the upkeep by 20%. They are weaker right now than the 1 handed orcs and the benefits would fall more in line with cost after the change.

@Fashtar you can open the mods with pack file manager if you are fammiliar with it. in db, main_units_table scroll to the very right. at the very end you will see a column named "restrict_xp_gain_in_campaign" which i have disabled (that means, units do get experience as i am not restricting them) are you using other mods perhaps?

I have found a problem. These units do not gain XP in battle. They're incapable of getting ranks through training or fighting. They're stunted.

I can confirm that the spear boys use the chaos chariot portrait. Not the icon, as gongoozler said. The 3D animated portrait at the bottom left corner when they are selected (it shows Grimgor in your screenshot, since it defaults to the general when you got nothing selected). Aside from that, the mod is working pretty damn fine.

@gongoozler https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=759965393 this looks like a correct unit icon to me. as a matter of fact, ig you look at the comments out of 500+ people you are the first to come with this problem. i can't fix something that is not broken. my guess is, you are using other mods that also add new units, and one of those is a mess and you are mistaken it with mine

@pleeb2 I forgot they also had Orc Boar Riderz. And they had the option to throw spears at their opponents before charging.

@pleeb2 I know the Greenskins roster in that game had Orc Warboss, Orc Big Boss, Night Goblin Shaman, Night Goblin Great Shaman, Orc Shaman, Orc Great Shaman, Orc Boyz, Orc Arrer Boyz, Goblins, Goblin Spear Throwaz, Night Goblins, Night Goblin Spear Throwaz, Squigs, Night Goblin Fanatics, Black Orcs, Trolls, Giant, Rock Lobba.

@Funkeh those will eventually come, for the moment i'm working on somethjing different (still units, but "special variants" see it as greenskin regiments of renown (all lore-accurate offcourse)

so i can not tell you when i will get back to normal units, but they are deffo on the list of things to do

First of all, thanks for all the fluff-friendly mods.

If I could make a request for Shielded and Great Weapon-wielding Big'Uns, that is all I want (until new models can be added and then SQUIGS :D)

@drazan The scarcity of flying units, particularly the house sized ones, is actually something that seems right to me. I would like controlling one, without putting my lord at risk. But a team of 6 sounds really out of balance for a match, and just seems outside what the orcs are capable of fielding. Getting a wyvern to do what they want is pretty rare, and takes efforts of the toughest orcs. The description of Gorbad Ironclaw's siege with them sounds like they weren't working in as a unit (or even had anyone riding them). Their lack of coordination is why Gorbad ultimately failed.

Just having a single rider, or even just a wyvern on its own, sounds more plausible. A team of 6 also sounds like it would be really, really expensive. Id like the choice of just taking one, without sinking so many points.

Would you have them being ridden by anyone, or just acting on there own? It seems up in the air whether they're sentient or not. I've seen them portrayed both ways in stories.

@drazan About what apoctriforce asked; I'm not really yearning for more ranged calvary for the orcs (though I can certainly see them with a unit like that, particularly the Savage orcs), but I'm curious about what's possible. You don't have those animation for the orc skeletons, and those are needed for the spears to appear and work?

@apoctriforce in previous total war titles that was possible because everyone used the same skeleton (human) but here for warjammer everything is directly attached to the skeleton so we will have to wait if c.a will release the option for us to add in our own models

nah its cool. I thought it would be possible. If not, thats fine. I kind of missed the Orc Boar Boyz from Warhammer Battle March that threw spears so I thought someone might add them into Total War.

@apoctriforce that would be impossible to make. the only unit that is using the spear throwing animation arr the maraduers. so that animation fits the skeleton (model) of chaos, i can't replace that with orcs who are shapen different. i can only make models work with correct, working animations. like black orcs with the greatsword animation of the empire is impossible. what would be possible is black orcs with black orc animation (2handed axe) but there is nothing even close to mid-range throwing since greenskin only have archer. i hope you understand

@pleeb2 i don't disagree with you, it may not be super common to see entire armies with only 2handed weapons. but you will see plenty of orcs and big'uns with 2handers. they call every weapon a choppa really, even a spear is a choppa to them. aslong as it can bring pain and kill then the boyz are happy. if the weapon is huge and they can chopchop really gud then all the better. big'uns are on the way btw, first i'm working on wyverns (unit of 6 wyvern + riders like what gorbad ironcaw used at the siege of altdorf) i'm aware that gorbad is long dead in the timeframe of this game..but wyverns are still used as mounts, so why not give the orc another awesome monster right

If I had to come up with a logical explanation for the regular orc boys not having great weapons; the orcs brawl over the coolest-looking weapons they loot after a fight, so they usually inevitably go to the Big 'Uns. Of course, I'd love to have Big 'Uns that are armor piercing.

Hi great job! in the armybook page 81 is also a orc boy mob with 2 one hand weapons pictured. could be also a good addition. Also it would be cool to see nasty stalkers (goblins) and maybe shilded big uns.
Another great addition für die araknarok spider would be a mod with colour variation. (see armybook)

@Sultan.Vodka The Great the only "kamikaze" unit of the greenskin i can think of is the goblin doom diver and that one is allready in the game. and chaos dwarfs do you use (and favour) hobgoblins the most. but the hobgoblin is not accepted in the greenskin "society" because they are sons of b!tches. like really treacherous even compared to regular goblins

I have a question about Warhammer but has nothing to do with game. Did Chaos Dwarves have kamikaze Goblin units? I saw Goblins launch themselves on a ballista, so perhaps Chaos Dwarves can make rockets for them to ride.
