@Vexed: I’m not sure. Maybe? Give it a go.
Hexavexed 9.10.2024 klo 3.46
Hello @entspeak! Will these work in a public server of more than 16 players?
entspeak  [tekijä] 28.4.2024 klo 10.59
@TheBlackside - No. Please do not upload my mods to another platform.
TheBlackside {GER} 15.4.2024 klo 12.32
Hi, I wanted to ask if it would be okay to upload your mod to mod.io?
Since we want to start a private crossplay server and would like to continue using your mod.

@Trapper Wolf They're too small, and there'd be no way to get the shapes right, as planets and moons are based on spheres.
Trapper Wolf 13.8.2022 klo 23.22
This is great work, any chance you can create them as planets/moons, so that the map script can see them?
VeyOwlet 5.11.2021 klo 12.06
what size do i spawn it at???
Choppa_Joe 8.8.2021 klo 4.00
Sorry if I offended you, was just wondering. I will learn to educate my self in the future.
entspeak  [tekijä] 8.8.2021 klo 3.58
@choppa_joe... you don't seem to understand how copyrights work. It's my original work. The fact that it exists, I've claimed it as mine, and I have the original files to show that it is my original work, establishes the copyright under common law. Do your research. I have successfully defended my work here under DMCA before, and will continue to do so if necessary.
Choppa_Joe 7.8.2021 klo 12.31
Did you actually copyright this? If so, could you link me to the copyright?
Vas 17.9.2020 klo 19.54
Yea, I suppose. Ah well then. Guess people would have to use the default game moon if they wanted to imagine its the true asteroid. :P
entspeak  [tekijä] 17.9.2020 klo 17.05
The heightmap goes on a sphere model... you can't adjust the height enough to significantly change the shape away from a sphere. You couldn't even get close.
Vas 16.9.2020 klo 21.38
Well, you may not be able to create the exact shape, I don't think... But you could probably use a custom height map to sorta emulate the shape a little bit.
entspeak  [tekijä] 16.9.2020 klo 21.17
The problem with that here is the shape of the moons - which aren't really moons, they're just large asteroids caught in Mars's Orbit. I don't believe you can create those shapes using planets. KeenSWH has been pretty terrible when it comes to supporting planet modding.
Vas 16.9.2020 klo 20.59
Suppose you'd have to use planets to do it instead for anything larger. :P And hope that KeenSWH enables us to set custom sizes for planets after they destroyed SEToolbox for no apparent reason. :P
entspeak  [tekijä] 16.9.2020 klo 18.42
@anzellott - As mentioned in the description, they are roughly 2x the real size relative to the planet. Being custom rendered asteroid models, and not planets, creating them is very involved and requires a lot of render time, so different sizes, unfortunately, will not be available.
anzellott 16.9.2020 klo 16.17
uh oh, i found i cannot scale them. could you make a phobos and deimos that is a 1000th of the real life size? like phobos Being 27x22x18m, and Deimos being 15x12.2x11m
anzellott 16.9.2020 klo 12.52
what are the diameters/radiuses of the moons? are they 1:1 scale to real life?
Vas 6.8.2018 klo 19.54
Oh, my bad, they are under the asteroid list. Hah.
Vas 6.8.2018 klo 19.50
These don't show up in the planet menu at all.
RyGuy_McFly 4.8.2018 klo 14.47
UPDATE: Still getting errors, but re-installing again made them show up. They seem to be fine, will let youu know if anything seems wrong with them, as Im still getting the same errors on startup
entspeak  [tekijä] 4.8.2018 klo 4.57
I'll check it out. Hopefully, they didn't change the way asteroids work again.
RyGuy_McFly 2.8.2018 klo 11.46
Hi there, is this mod broken? Can't seem to get this mod to load and it always throws "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." errors. Tried hard re-installing the mod a few times, nothing.
Jolly 22.7.2018 klo 13.43
I'm not saying they aren't legit. When I said "they actually look legit" is based on conventional means that they wouldn't typically look legit but they surprisingly did. You did a good job modeling them after the actual moons of mars but there are limits to Asteroid builds. Just can't see asteroids without turning up viewing distance really high and they'd need to be a lot closer than I intentionally wanted because I want to have to use Jump Drives to get there as well. In my realistic SP I setup, I removed all planets but Mars and turned Asteroids off so the only platinum are on the moons I placed (not so realistic but a good challenge) using realistic mods like: off centered thrusters tilting center of gravity of ships, making ship building difficult and x1x1x1 setting, etc.
entspeak  [tekijä] 22.7.2018 klo 11.50
Okay. But, these are models of the actual moons of Mars, which are simply asteroids caught in orbit of the planet. So, these are legit.
Jolly 19.7.2018 klo 20.23
Yeah I ended up using Earth-Like Moon and Some other moon (can't remember), they actually look legit since earth moon was all deformed looking from Mar's surface and the other not so much.

These are custpom asteroids (which is, technically, all that the moons of Mars are, anyway) and I believe the ore is random, if I remember correctly. They aren't proper moons with custom ore maps.
Jolly 5.7.2018 klo 12.13
Is there typical Moon Ore on these? Like Platinum, etc?
Lvcian 28.12.2017 klo 10.12
*Insert joke about wide momma's here*
TheSilverInfinity 3.12.2017 klo 6.54
XD
entspeak  [tekijä] 3.12.2017 klo 6.03
Dunno. Paste it in and check.
TheSilverInfinity 1.12.2017 klo 21.11
How wide is Phobos roughly?
person man 10.10.2017 klo 7.50
me likey
ChozoSR388 17.9.2017 klo 14.30
Thank you; it was always annoyed me that KEEN didn't give Mars its actual moons...honestly. It wouldn't have been that hard. Thank you for this. Realism is brought to Space Engineers.
entspeak  [tekijä] 31.8.2017 klo 20.30
It must've been one that I was testing. It's not in the mod anymore.
entspeak  [tekijä] 14.8.2017 klo 17.10
Once I get the game re-installed, I check it out. Just got my computer back to being a computer instead of a lump.
Tarka 14.8.2017 klo 15.09
In the spawnlist there are two entries for Deimos, labelled Deimos and Deimos 2.
entspeak  [tekijä] 14.8.2017 klo 14.19
This one and which other?
Tarka 14.8.2017 klo 13.55
Could you explain the difference between the two available versions of Deimos?
Drago 9.4.2017 klo 14.51
Getting crash as well. Doesn't seem to crash with already pasted astroids.
Imote Khan 1.4.2017 klo 9.50
They say alot, should I copy paste the 2000+ lines somewhere or is there a specific result from the log you are looking for? Alos the ceres planet without spin gravity does not show up in planets. but if I remove the basic ceres mod and add your expanse version it shows up in the list of spawnable planets.

Super happy to help, and these issue may just be due to my inebtitude :D
entspeak  [tekijä] 1.4.2017 klo 6.46
@Imote Khan What do the logs say after the crash?
Imote Khan 31.3.2017 klo 20.27
when I paste the moons in it crashes my game, not sure why. All of your other planets worked fine, but the predifined asteroids did not.
alos 7.2.2017 klo 15.33
Can't wait!
entspeak  [tekijä] 7.2.2017 klo 15.22
I'm already working on an authentic system - but, I think sometimes you have to sacrifice realism for gameplay. I'm not going to do the outer planets until Keen makes it possible to do gas giants, but I've pretty much got the inners. I've got Mercury, and am just finishing up Venus. I like his take on Real Mars, but I understand why Keen altered it. The dimensions of the well known features are off when you shrink it to 120km - Olympus Mons, in particular.
alos 7.2.2017 klo 15.13
I'm just talking about collabing on making an accurate system or something. And yes, I know they're captured asteroids. I like astronomy.
entspeak  [tekijä] 6.2.2017 klo 19.56
I have chatted with Xilthis - at some point, I'm going to redo my take on Mars using the albdeo shading techniques he came up with. But, Deimos and Phobos are actually asteroids, not actual moons, and the game doesn't use the same process to create asteroids. You can't make an accurate version of either of Mars's moons using planet modding techniques.
alos 6.2.2017 klo 14.36
You should talk to Xilthis. He's made a collection of mods to make mars better, but I don't think he's done anything about the moons.
Shroom 12.12.2016 klo 8.58
Nicely done.
Tony D 9.12.2016 klo 13.05
Wow, what i've been waitin for. Thanks
