Please update this necessary mod.
Phoenix 15 Nov, 2018 @ 12:52pm
Thank you Sverd! I'll put it in my colletion and I'll remove this one. Let me know if you manage to update this one so I can put it back. You loosing those 4 stars would make me sad tbh

Phoenix: I've just gone ahead and uploaded it as a new mod. "Council Power Faction Fixed for Holy Fury".

It is absolutely not worth the headache to keep battling with the backward update system.
Phoenix 15 Nov, 2018 @ 12:26pm
I'm sorry to hear that Sverd, take all the time you need. No worries! I'll wait until the workshop decides to work fine :)
Sverd of the Great Vale  [author] 15 Nov, 2018 @ 12:15pm
Pheonix: It certainly works with 3.0, but there have been changes to the vanilla file with 3.0. This means I can't guarantee that the game will function exactly as intended when dealing with how the other factions work.

I have tried at least 10 times to update the mod tonight in the same way I usually do, but the workshop insists on creating a brand new listing as if the mod doesn't already exist. I can release an update to make it 100% compatible with 3.0, but it will be as a different mod listing altogether.
Phoenix 15 Nov, 2018 @ 3:03am
Compatible with v3.0?
Sverd of the Great Vale  [author] 23 Oct, 2018 @ 4:16am
Flavius Ludovicus Augustus: I'm sorry, I don't know for sure. If it alters either 00_factions.txt or faction_decisions.txt, then there will be a conflict.
Kisigi 21 Oct, 2018 @ 9:11pm
its compatible with CK2Plus Factions Standalone?
Agamemnon 15 Aug, 2018 @ 1:38pm
I wish they implemented this into vanilla so I could iron man without this happening.
( ゚ ヮ゚) Kitty! 3 Jul, 2018 @ 7:22am
Thanks for this, this should really be default behaviour, the increase council power faction is SO ANNOYING - what's particularly stupid is the council can approve abolishing council power then they all join the faction to increase council power. It would be nice if this came with an option (or instructions how to change this) to only allow council members to be in the faction
heliask 14 Jun, 2018 @ 8:37am
so now you have to install mods to make the DLC you paid for somewhat playable.
Nope 19 Nov, 2017 @ 5:45pm
Calvin, I'm not sure why it wouldn't let you play with this mod. Mine shows up fine and allows me to launch and start games with the file. I even simulated and first few months of a game as West Francia, which everything from this mod appeared to be working as expected. (Much better than Vanilla, makes a hell of a lot more sense given certain vassal traits)
Calvin J. Candie 19 Nov, 2017 @ 11:49am
The launcher says it is incompatible and doesnt let me play it so yes it needs some updating to the newest patch :( Thanks a lot <3
Sverd of the Great Vale  [author] 19 Nov, 2017 @ 10:27am
Calvin J. Candle: We'll be checking whether there are any changes to the factions .txt that need implementing into the mod at some point in the near future. I won't have the latest expansion myself until a little later this month.
Calvin J. Candie 19 Nov, 2017 @ 10:14am
Me again, ¿would you be so kind as to update it for the latest patch? :D
Sverd of the Great Vale  [author] 2 Aug, 2017 @ 2:36am
Calvin J. Candle: As far as I'm aware, the mod should work fine with the current game version. Are you experiencing any particular problems / bugs we could look into?
Calvin J. Candie 1 Aug, 2017 @ 5:36am
Can you update this mod? I loved it and the council civil wars are still a pain in the arse happening every 5-10 years
Sverd of the Great Vale  [author] 24 May, 2017 @ 9:41am
DJae: Sorry, I don't think it will be compatible with CK2+. The changes made in CK2+ are vast, and I'm sure there will be conflicts.
DJae 15 Apr, 2017 @ 10:18pm
Is this compatible with ck2plus? that would be great
Sverd of the Great Vale  [author] 6 Apr, 2017 @ 9:43am
Energywelder: It's nice that Paradox has taken steps toward making the faction somewhat less annoying, but they've introduced a blanket 50 opinion threshold for all vassals regardless of their traits. We're considering keeping this mod updated and maintaining a more roleplay-focused approach to determining how likely someone is to join the ICP faction. We have also discussed whether the punishment for losing an ICP war has become excessive, so we're thinking of possibly making changes to that rule.

We don't know when we'll make any changes, but we'll update the mod to be compatible with the new patch soon.
Energywelder 6 Apr, 2017 @ 6:37am
I was reading the most recent patch notes, this most recent patch which came after monks & mystics, and apparently they reworked factions a little like how this mod works, isn't that neat?
NoobLord 5 Apr, 2017 @ 6:22am
Can you also do this for the elective monarchy faction?
Energywelder 24 Mar, 2017 @ 1:10pm
Actually, I think I figured out what's wrong, my game stopped working yesterday, and after several rounds of debugging, your mod finally popped up in my mods list, and THEN i clicked enable. My computer's screwy.
Sverd of the Great Vale  [author] 24 Mar, 2017 @ 2:53am
Energywelder: To test, you'll need to familiarise yourself with the opinion thresholds and traits outlined in the mod description. Basically, if anyone on the ICP faction has over +25 opinion of you, they've probably got one of the negative traits (Deceitful, Envious, Ambitious, Greedy, Arbitrary) which raise the requirement to +60 before they'll abandon the faction. Another possibility is that someone is being forced to join the faction by another member, in which case they will not leave the faction so long as the person who forced them to join it is still part of it - but this is quite rare, and you should get a popup notifying you whenever this happens.
Energywelder 23 Mar, 2017 @ 4:29pm
Question, this mod doesn't seem to be working for me, I'm either grossly incompetent, I don't know how to play the game (huge possibility), or I've hit the subsribe button wrong, does this mod need a new game to start working?
Sverd of the Great Vale  [author] 7 Mar, 2017 @ 9:29am
Mod updated for Monks and Mystics. There was a conflict with some of the patch changes, but it has been resolved and this mod has kindly agreed to end its plot to murder the current game version.
shattered_logic 8 Feb, 2017 @ 1:16pm
Has anyone tried this mod with HIP?
Darthlox 22 Jan, 2017 @ 3:38pm
Possibly just making it so that you need a minimum ammount of troops to raid? 1000 ish? having to rally my levies over a retarded 400 man viking crew is very annoying.
Darthlox 22 Jan, 2017 @ 3:36pm
I'm really thankful for this mod, as now I can actually do stuff besides fight rebels. But it's still very annoying though that in some games I get swarmed by raiders. Could you make a mod that reduces the number of raids, yet makes them larger? I still want raids to happen, I'd just like to spend my time doing things besides fight raiders.
Sverd of the Great Vale  [author] 7 Jan, 2017 @ 11:37am
Marcelo: So long as you both have this mod enabled, it should work just fine even if your friend doesn't have the Conclave DLC. Just make sure you both have the same mods enabled / disabled (interface mods are an exception, I think) and that your checksums are the same. The Wiki confirms that it should be fine: http://www.ckiiwiki.com/Multiplayer
ShadowMoon 7 Jan, 2017 @ 9:08am
Does this work in a multiplayer game in which one of the player dont have the Conclave expansion? (Im running a campaing with a friend and I have all dlc, but he does not)
DoomDutch 4 Jan, 2017 @ 1:56pm
Thaaaaannk you! God, that faction is annoying... I had one firing in the second/third month of my game once -,-
Mitch 2 Jan, 2017 @ 2:29am
Omg YES! This game can actually be fun again!
Sasha Ninni 29 Dec, 2016 @ 10:11am
You have to have an account on the Paradox Forums in order to access the game mods section of the forums.

After several hours of testing, this mod is really good ^^ Makes way more sense than having faction leaders with 100 Opinion.
FloofyMomo 22 Dec, 2016 @ 3:35pm
This sounds amaizing. Will try.

AlakoHope: If I remember correctly, the vanilla game is +40 for anyone who isn't deceitful, ambitious or envious, and +80 (!!) for anyone who is. I felt that the values needed to be reduced by a fair amount, with some special values for vassals with certain traits. After testing the mod quite extensively, I found that the council faction now poses about as much of a threat as any other faction does - maybe slightly more, but not to the insane levels I've experienced in the vanilla game.

If there's enough demand for it, a 'lite' edition could be in the works, where a middle ground could be reached between this mod and vanilla. If it's something you'd really like for christmas (if you celebrate it), add me as a friend on here and I'll send you a custom version of the mod.
Alako 20 Dec, 2016 @ 9:52am
Definitely should be incorporated into main game, though a little bit of buffing may be needed. Perhaps the opinion modifier should be more like +50 then 25 for cravens, etc?
Sverd of the Great Vale  [author] 20 Dec, 2016 @ 3:09am
Dick Joke: The faction is already restricted to people who are eligible to be on the council: your own landed vassals. Unlanded courtiers can't join the faction because they have no troops to add to it. Vassals who are not on the council can still join, because they are eligible to be on it. If you've been using the mod and someone has joined the faction who is 1. not your vassal, and 2. not eligible to be on the council, please let us know the circumstances on the 'Mod Info and Bug Reports' discussion and we'll look into it.

Gracchus: Doing so would involve modifying the 00_factions.txt file, which is what this mod does. I can make it as a new mod quite easily, but people wouldn't be able to use both this mod and the elective monarchy mod without a conflict. I'll make one anyways (later on today, or tomorrow if something comes up), and maybe you could tell me how well it works?
A541 19 Dec, 2016 @ 11:38pm
As a suggestion maybe restrict the faction to people who are actually valid to be on the council?
gracchus 19 Dec, 2016 @ 6:59pm
I don't actually have terribly strong feelings about council authority factions but I hate the Elective Monarchy faction, it seems like half of the kingdoms end up with elective succession which is just crazy. Are you considering similar mods for other annoying factions?
Eternantium 19 Dec, 2016 @ 9:47am
Funny enough, was trying to mod this in myself. This mod is a godsend and has Basileus Trump's approval. Definitely gonna try it out.
mateusg 18 Dec, 2016 @ 10:44am
Excellent Mod
Riekopo 17 Dec, 2016 @ 7:14pm
This mod should be integrated into the vanilla game by Paradox.
