It surely would.

Warheads may be designed to be safe unless armed, but Ammunition isn't.

Sure would be cool if the game included the possibility of a "Magazine Explosion", Wouldn't it?!

@Snake

I don't know.

Is this mod compatible with the latest version of the game ?
Fatsack 11 Dec, 2017 @ 7:10pm
@virtualGaming after you get a crash, type %appdata% into your windows search bar and hit enter, find the SpaceEngineers folder, and the SpaceEngineers.log file, open it in a text editor, and towards the bottom should be the errors that crashed your game. You should be able to tell which mod and even what sort of error is causing your crash from this log.
aquilaiovis  [author] 3 Dec, 2017 @ 12:22pm
@VirtualGaming

I thought I already answered you, but it seems like I haven't yet, so here I go:

I asked some of my friends to check if the game crashes for them and it doesn't. The same goes for me. I think some other mod might be interfering in your game. To fix this issue yourself, simply try different mod combinations. This way, you'll eventually find out what mod causes the crash.

Thank you for the info, @VirtualGaming. I'll check it out later this week.

game crash when large reactor (small ship) expode and then moment later crash
Dust 6 Sep, 2017 @ 12:50pm
It's not only a gamey arcade thing that the warhead doesn't explode when shot if it isn't armed, real modern bombs have that kind of failsafe too. It would also be really stupid if it didn't because the lightest hit from anything and your bomber ship/plane and/or torpedo/bomb/missile with a warhead in/on it would just disintegrate due to small arms fire coming from an interior turret.
No-Life King 1 May, 2017 @ 2:21pm
not realy needed on smaller ships, as a tank would break nearby blocks anyways
as for the tubes, they are effectively meny pipes in one items/oxygen/hydrogen
if each pipe has a valve, think what happens if u shoot a pistol at a scuba tank [Jaws Ref. Yay]

not realy askin for them to explode, would be awsome tho, but...realisticly?

side note thinking of useing this on my server
aquilaiovis  [author] 1 May, 2017 @ 1:18pm
@No-Life King

Even if this would somehow start a chain reaction, my theory of before would still apply for the tanks. And the tubes of the game are rather large as well. They can even detect if they are connected to other valves or attached to an unfinished/open pipeline. This implies that they can communicate through electric charge too and enable more emergency features.

I'm not trying to disprove you so I do not have to implement this feature in the game. The opposite is the case. I appreciate your feedback a lot. You just need to convince me that this would realistically create an explosion.
No-Life King 1 May, 2017 @ 11:29am
what about the tubes having hydrogen/oxygen in them? taking damage from bullets? i dont watch much news, im farly sure theres explosions from ruptured gas lines, gas is still there even if valves are closed...unless it drains it in emergincies?
aquilaiovis  [author] 1 May, 2017 @ 7:41am
@No-Life King

Interesting idea, but I have seen documentaries about gas containers in real life and most of them seem to have a lot of automatic emergency barriers, which would make chain reactions to occur quite rarely. I would also imagine that in the time Space Engineers plays, engineers would have made these methods even more efficient and maybe even better.
No-Life King 1 May, 2017 @ 7:26am
seeing as the conveyor tube move hydrogen/oxygen to the systems that use it, maybe 'ping' the tanks and check to see if they are connected to the thrsters and 'tag' the tubes used, so that when the tank blows the tubes a a chain reaction? maybe not massive damage, but a little damage with a % chance to damage tubes/thrust to unseable levels based on how meny h-thrust are connected to the tubes to tank [think more fuel pulled from tanks, more fuel in lines]

@Ryukki

No problem. Mistakes need to happen, else we would learn a lot less in our short lifes.
Ryukki 16 Apr, 2017 @ 1:10pm
Oops your right, Im sorry I picked the wrong one.
aquilaiovis  [author] 16 Apr, 2017 @ 6:50am
@Ryukki

This seems rather odd to me. Are you sure you do not have any other modifications installed?

This modification only makes reactors, jump drives, virtual mass blocks, space balls, battery blocks, gas tanks and atmospheric thrusters explodable.
Ryukki 15 Apr, 2017 @ 2:11pm
I was playing with my friends and He shot the LCD and a interior light and they both exploded. I went to the Config. file trying to change that but none but its not there. I got Gyro'sThrusters and ect. but not lights or LCD's.
aquilaiovis  [author] 11 Apr, 2017 @ 4:27am
@CLOMP!!!

The efficiency of the batteries in Space Engineers imply your claim, but in survival they are assembled with different elements, but this may change in the future of this game.

Either way, the reaction followed upon destruction would definitely have considerable damage to neighbouring blocks.
zpjester 10 Apr, 2017 @ 1:11pm
SE batteries would probably be LiPo, with their fast discharge rate. LiPo batteries have even more boom.
Scanner 9 Apr, 2017 @ 12:20pm
After watching it again, it is due to outside forces, but here is a clip of it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdcE3VyKv5U
aquilaiovis  [author] 9 Apr, 2017 @ 11:48am
@Scanner

I unfortunately never heard of that movie scene. I will watch that movie in the next week and evaluate the realism of said explosion. Thank you for your feedback, because all information can be useful to expand the realistic content of this modification!
Scanner 8 Apr, 2017 @ 8:26pm
In the movie Contact, the machine Ellie went through, the first one blew up violently, and basically is moves like a giant gyro.
aquilaiovis  [author] 8 Apr, 2017 @ 2:40am
@nubeees

I have thought about this myself and actually made some plausibility checks on paper, but came to the conclusion that there is no way they could actually explode and damage neighbouring blocks through simple destruction.
nubeees 7 Apr, 2017 @ 2:09pm
What about gyro's? :P
I feel like really fast spinning things could be a bit explody
aquilaiovis  [author] 6 Apr, 2017 @ 11:23am
UPDATE 20170406

- implementation of atmospheric thruster explosions upon destruction
- improved and therefore more realistic damage values
aquilaiovis  [author] 6 Apr, 2017 @ 8:35am
@ACG-_-R4G3

I hope you agree on my claims, but if not, make sure to tell me what still bothers you, so we can solve the problem together.
aquilaiovis  [author] 6 Apr, 2017 @ 8:35am
@ACG-_-R4G3

The difference would probably be very low, as hydrogen molecules first would have to mix up with oxygen molecules and when the hydrogen of the hydrogen tank is ignited it mostly burns up faster than it could mix up even just a little bit.

I try to be realistic with this modification, but the values I have assigned the explodable blocks are nowhere close to precise, but this actually does make it fit in with Space Engineers more, as other "realistic" aspects of the game are just as debatable and undynamic as the hydrogen tank here for example.

I am not too lazy to implement something this nit-picking, but it would make this modification more inconsequent due to the approximate values of the explodable blocks.

There's no need to be that accurate anyways though, as you can trust me, that even when I would implement it, you probably would not notice a single difference.
Dr. Distortion 5 Apr, 2017 @ 2:49pm
Ooo, I just thought, since you're going for realism, if a hydrogen tank explodes in an oxyginated area or on a planet with atomsphere it shound do more damage. Right? But ya just a thought haha
aquilaiovis  [author] 5 Apr, 2017 @ 12:58pm
@ACG-_-R4G3

Appreciated.
Dr. Distortion 5 Apr, 2017 @ 10:38am
Okay, that all make sense. BTW, good job on the mod!
aquilaiovis  [author] 5 Apr, 2017 @ 9:25am
@ACG-_-R4G3

Ion thrusters would simply turn off upon destruction and hydrogen thrusters are debatable, as only a severly damaged hydrogen tank is fatal and the damaged thruster would just be unmaneuverable, as it is obviously in the game as well (it will not function anymore), but it is coincidental you mention this today, as I actually am implementing atmospheric thrusters tomorrow, because I realized that jet engines/turbines are not safe from exploding rather spectacularly when damaged in real life.
Dr. Distortion 4 Apr, 2017 @ 9:01pm
Can you add explosions to thrusters? I'm sure they'd explode if active then damaged.
aquilaiovis  [author] 2 Apr, 2017 @ 2:33am
@Celius

I am glad I could help you.

@Darian Stephens @SpaceWolf [DEADMEN] [FL]

Thank you for your constructive feedback, which is always welcome for everyone.

I have consequently made a separate version just for your desire:

@Darian Stephens. I use the same mod and I assure you, it works. I too would like to see a version with the gas tank explosions removed.
Darian Stephens 1 Apr, 2017 @ 9:29am
Could you perhaps make a version without the gas tank explosions? I already use a mod that adds them proportional to their stored gas amount.
(Actually, I'm not certain if that mod still works, since I've never actually been in a fight...)
Celius 1 Apr, 2017 @ 4:04am
Heeeeeey, thats pretty good.
