Mod Idea: Extensive Environmental Effects.
So I'm completely lost on how to mod, let alone mod Mechwarrior here.
That being said, I had an idea wiggling in the back of my head and wanted to toss it out there. Perhaps it'll inspire someone else, or at least I can get feedback on how interesting such a mod would be to others.
Mechwarrior has a wide range of absolutely gorgeous environments and keep adding more with each successive DLC. Yet personally, I find that bar the most extreme examples of inclement weather limiting visibility, most of these are utterly ignoble in their effects.
So there is the premise of the idea: A mod that takes the extant weather conditions such as corrosive rain, ash storms, and torrential downpours and either adds or rachets up the effects.
Torrential downpours and icy weather give a noticeable- even dramatic- increase to the rate heat dissipates. Corrosive rain causes a mild but continuous DoT (only to armor) that effects all mechs and tanks in battlefield, making it easier to kill not only you, but them as well.
an ash storm could potentially lead to misfires on weapons, damaging and disabling them for the rest of the mission (though not destroying them) lightning storms have a chance to randomly strike and hit like a PPC, always striking the tallest object within a given area.
A tornado that might toss a hovertank and scatter missiles like tenpins but can't do more than mildly slow a battlemech, or low gravity that dramatically slows falls and reduces fall damage.

I know the existing weather conditions are supposed to have effects, but it seems to me like their effects are negligible?
If there's no interest or this idea is outright moronic please, let me know. I just thought I'd toss this idea out into the aether.

Funny enough, i think some of the weather effects got approved to go in after a mod for extreme weather gained some traction.

They do have stuff to impact some times of weapons, etc for some biomes, but it does seem muted in impact. There's also no in-mission indicator for the effects, so it's easy to forget about. Certainly something mods should be able to dial up.

Yeah, I couldn't find any mods on the workshop, but apparently they are on Nexus Mods, so once I've finished the obligatory vanilla campaign I'll start exploring the mod scene.
