I feel like there should be a campign for reassembly. Whether modded or not. I personally don't know how to mod but if someone knows how to help me, It'd be great. I was thinking that for each faction or so, thers a boss. Once you kill the boss ship, you get a new part that you may not have been able to purchase before. I don't know the specifics but I wish there was a way for it to happen.
