It's almost as if I paid for the game and can play it however I want? If you want to change that then feel free to find me and force me to play it the way you want me to play it.

Personally I like almost all of the extra challenge of hardcore mode, but I find the lack of map markers to be more annoying than fun

Because some people want the other features of hardcore mode but not those features. I love it as designed (in fact the map and lack of fast travel are my favorite features of hardcore mode) but people have different tastes. That's what modding is all about. That's why the devs gave us modding. (Complaining about mod requests in this discussion forum is the real WTF... :P)

I totally support you guys' desire for a mod to change how this works but just want to say I find it very immersifying to not have the map marker. Just a little while ago I got totally turned around and lost in the woods at night and it was so creepy and so much fun! You can't really get lost with the map marker. In general this features draws me into the world like no other as I have to look around and to try to figure out where I am, especially in the wilderness.

did you give me a test that you know? Why play hardcore if you don't want to use its mechanics? Explain that to me rationally? You want a marker or fast travel then why play the game in that mode? Please answer sensibly and not write idiotic things :)

Which mechanic makes you want to play this particular mode, which perk? If it's so important? None of these mechanics affect the gameplay as much and are more fun than the two you are writing about.... And to get an achievment just to have one but not to earn it is, to me, the very behaviour of a toddler. Don't forget to add a mod for unlimited saves, because cooking a potion is too hard too :)
