I can't remember if it works/stalls correctly in blueprint mode, but you can set up the criteria like often that you can lay a bunch of phantom beds down in sequence, whenever they are ready or when your work orders are done, and is meant to be complementary in that way.
Toady added a 'use last material' recently which covers wall placement when the planner used to be superior for singling out availibilty, but planning mode for setting up furniture is still highly rated, depends if you want to wait for the orders completed or not.
