Remaining changes summary

Any further changes to the map will be to make small adjustments for either quality of life reasons or something crucial that I may have missed previously.

If there is currently any planned changes the changes will be listed below on Reply #2 below.

Since kf-badlands-tf2 is now public I'll only be updating the map every so often with bigger updates. This is to avoid spamming downloads to any subscribers whether it be a player or a server.

ETA - Postponed

Why has a planned update been postponed?

Lately I haven't had time to work on the map and I don't want to push out a tiny update when the map is currently working fine. I do have a lot of stuff planned which takes a bit of time considering this is just a fun little project I do in my free time.

The below changes are still planned and I wanted to update this so on the off chance someone reads it they don't believe it's finalized.


Upcoming Changes

The rest of the changes below I'm planning to have prepared sometime around July. That way I can say I finished everything I planned to with this map and call it. I may miss that month but hoping I have time around then to wrap things up.

Planned Changes

  • Address dynamic shadow usage - Some examples are at blue side at the wooden bridge where shadows are not being cast properly

  • Implement Escort mode for Wave 2 in Objective Mode

  • Implement New Area for Wave 6 in Objective Mode

  • Scale Wave 4 timer in Objective Mode based on how many players there are alive at the start of the wave

  • Adjust logic for how hologram on Wave 4 Objective appears and disappears

  • Hologram at center appears during boss waves with special boss logo

  • Adjustments to Fence near Red Base to adjust shadow appearance

  • Address some problematic areas in Blue Base where shadows appear in adjacent rooms through walls - May be an issue in other areas of the map as well

  • New computer with animations added to indicate where the intelligence is supposed to be delivered in Objective Mode for Transport Wave 1 - This computer is persistent through other game types - Was originally planned to go live with previous update but on hold

  • Added more detail to Observer Room and mirrored changes to the duplicate room within game boundries

  • The intake fans in Blue Base now act as a spawn room passage for Crawlers

Scrapped

  • SFX for Stand Your Ground objectives - This became obnoxious testing so any custom sounds will merely be a quick subtle jingle instead of a continuous background noise

  • Add soundscapes for Badlands.Inside & Badlands.Outside - Same reason as above

  • Replacement models for Zeds
    • To my knowledge it is not possible to replace models of characters specifically for a map

  • Removed spawn point because currently it looks too out of place to spend time on improving. May return at a later date.
    • New Zone @ Blue Base - Outside of the initial spawn room currently used for zeds spawning there is a small crevice in the rock formation to the right. Zeds will drop out of a hole a meter or so above the ground and hop over the rails to enter the map. This is only accessible by AI zeds.
