Blackice HOI IV TEST
the garrisons...
while I understand that the base game has them - could maybe BICE do something better?

I'm losing more men in garrisons than the front! Also, I don't know how many...

See Streptokok 21 Apr @ 1:46am he has an explanation.
nah, not talking about the default template. i always have some proper garrison with MP.

I'm talking about the men you lose from 'garisson losses'. the ones that the 'resistance' kills. even with the final MP research you get massive losses. Try to play a minor and you realise that all your manpower is drained by the garrison. sucks.
plus
you have no idea how much you lost. in a war, you see the losses. total, per battle, per front etc.
for garissons - nada. bit sad, but paradox is anything but

hoping BICE can, as usually, improve the things

Sounds totally unhistorical except for Sovjet and maybe parts of Yugo!
I now understand that it is related to the Husky and not really the DLC La Resistance? I am not going to play with the DLC but Husky is difficult to avoid as I wait for BICE 5.
When PDX adds a new feature it is always totally exagerated and spoils everything. This seems to make it unplayable? Yes lets hope BICE can, as usually, improve the things....

The amount of man you loose every day can be seen. There is a menu for that in the garrison screen.
In 1940 with Poland, France, Benelux and Yugoslavie occupied i loose 700 to 1000 men every day. The garrison template i use has >16 supression.

@Thor: Thank you! That is helpful to get some transparency to the sad issue. Can you also see how many men are locked in to "Off Map Garrisons"?
I suppose Reichskommisariats etc would reduce that? Have you experience with that?
Some where i read that armored unit`s may have reducted loses, may use Armored cars or old demobiled tanks to suspresing.

I have used garnizon div with 2 kompany of inf ( garnizon ) with suport batalions cav recon and MP and renon with armored cars i forgret the name. The number of division i acurate like that the resistance are stability, hardly eved down and i have no loses of men power. But you have right that new rugulations are manpower more expensiw.

Sorry for ma eng, but is not my primery language, and I`m a litle tired and I haven`t used translator to convert my post.
@SmoothOperator the occupation screen (where you set the occupation laws/surpression templates) has a button in the upper right corner where you see your losses in manpower and equipement broken down very thorougly. I personally can't confrim loosing as many men as Thorthundergod. Not saying he's wrong but that sounds really much. When playing Germany occupying Poland, France, all the historical areas etc. I still gained more manpower per month than I lost. Everyhing set to "civillian" oppression. I use Garrison battalions with mp + headquarter + recon + armored cars. That gives a pretty good amount of surpression + some hardness to your template.
I would pay 30€ for the mod and 5€ maybe for the game(hoi 4), but this thing with garison its insane, i need 130 k to control yugoslavia its insane. It is unplayeble now. Please fix this.

Actually 130K to control Yugoslavia probably isnt way off from historical, at least if you include non combat troops
SmoothOperator 27 Apr, 2020 @ 6:33am
In HOI non combat troops are abstracted. HOI is all about frontline troops. 130k frontline troops to Yugo is quite a lot. I played Germany a year ago and I only had 6 x 4 cav + HQ + MP in Yugo. That is like 30k. In my notes I can see I had like 60 security units in all of Europe excl. Sovjet. That is about 300k!
I never used CAR as it cost as much as the rest of the unit. Husky apparently demands you to do that or suffer at your peril......
I did test various solutions like only 2 Cav instead of 4. It turned out I could save 18% man power using the smaller one in greater numbers. This is likely changed with Husky? I will test it.

I love to play BICE. Investing weeks in a play through I do not want unrealistic, annoying challenges like suffering "1000 daily losses" to suppression! None of us do!
Yes lets hope BICE can, as usually, improve the things....
Yes the losses are too high it might be realistic but you run out of manpower very quickly.
I found this wikipedia - The numbers of French resistance were smaller, around 10,000 in 1942, and swelling to 200,000 by 1944 I dont think you need 100.000 for 10.000
And not everyone was armed and trained,..
SmoothOperator 27 Apr, 2020 @ 3:31pm
IRL an occupation power would hire local people to do police- and suppression work - like the japanese hired lots of chinese etc.. The germans did that all over Europe. You can't do that in HOI.
