Little question.
To all the friends of the German language: why in German it says Venice Venedig while Veneto is said Venezien?

Hm, I am really not sure. I tried to make a research, but found nothing.

I think its the same as with Milano, Roma and so on (or also Warszawa in Poland,...). In Germany we call them Mailand and Rom (and Warszawa is Warschau). Or my hometown München is called Munich in English.

I think this things happens, because then its easier to pronounce for the people...
