Sklavenoi
. If anybody know something about the ancestors of the Sklavenoi, please write it

I think they were good archers. Really though, it depends on the area of the Slavic tribes. A suggestion for units would be light spearmen that have a good offense. I found salvagable ideas from various articles.

Slav Warriors
These ancient warriors are described as being unusually tall and strong, Slavic warriors typically used a wide range of weapons. A single warrior may carry a shield, spear, ax, sling and bow.

Slavs expanded they began using combined arms tactics, with archers, cavalry and infantry working in unison. Their armies used speed to their advantage and often employed ambushes, flanking assaults and guerilla tactics

In their dealings with Sarmatians and Huns, it is not inconceivable that the Slavs became skilled horsemen, a feature which might explain their successful expansion.[101]

Spears/javelins and "nice" shields are mentioned as characteristic Slavic weapons even by Arab authors in 9-10th century so we might assume it was most typical weaponry of Slavic warrior.

The axe was a favourite weapon among the tribal warriors. Cheap but devastating, the Slavs made good use of domestic axes (topor) and specialized battle-axes (bordy) of varying weight and blade shape

Being the finest warriors at the disposal of the knez, they are the military elite of Slavic society, and their armour and equipment is evident of this. Not until the 9th c. that armour and swords had become more widespread among the Slavs and till that time only the Druzinniks had disposal to such fine weaponry.

The absence of armour was a common feature among the early Slavs. Not till later periods (9th c.) during which clan chiefs were consolidating their power do we see wider use of swords, helms, and chain mail.

Hope my suggestion helps.

Wow, thats great!
Thank you for your help.

I'll begin with that mod when I've finished this here. ;)

I think I'll place them at the area of the Budini tribe.
Sorry, I have no time left to answer you detailed, I'll do that tomorrow.

Anyway, thank you for that mass of information!

I have some questions to this:
So I really shouldn't add any heavy unit to them, either light and fast units with a strong attack and tendentially weak defence?
Which icon should the faction get? The old icon from Barbarian Invasion Add on of Rome TW(i really liked it)? Or either something like this (as pattern on the icon):
http://www.wulflund.com/old-slavs/pagan-slavic-idol-pendant-silver-plated.html/
http://www.wulflund.com/old-slavs/kolovrat-silver-slavic-colovrat-pendant-ag-925.html/

Also I think, pelts from bears or something would be suitable.
If I can't create a own culture, which should they be? Germanic (balto-slavo-germanic is a undergroup of the indoeuropean), celtic or steppe-nomads?

Maybe I'll make own shield patterns, how looked thier shields?

I'm looking forward to begin with this mod, but the thing is that I have much to do in the near future (also a journey) and will be able to begin with this mod at the earliest in seven weeks. :/

I would give them a few moderately heavy units for sake of balance. But they would slightly smaller compared to other units or some of way of lessening the amount of these units. An idea for a heavy unit would be such as:
Slavic Nobles (fair armor [medium], mix of swords and axes, and a variety of shields)
Slavic Tribal Guards (basically like any other guard but lighter armor wise and etc)
Then if you want, you could put a migration spin on things, like as you get higher and higher in the technology level, you could introduce units with the name of other Slavic tribes in them, like Ilmen Beserkers, Croat Spears, etc.

The kolovrat is a good choice. I can also recomend symbols such as: http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_l5cb9vTJtr1qbwvxbo1_500.png

Ive read, I belive atleast, some early Slavs did not wear more than pants. But i belive bear pelts and etc would be suitable. As for culture, id say Germanic with a steppe-nomad influence.

My knowledge of shields comes from medieval Kievan Rus. They had kolovrats on them. Various swastikas.

Id imagine they put various mythological symbols.

Again, hope these suggestiong helped. If you need further information, Id be glad to provide it.

Yeah, thanks! Your commitment is really great!

Its cool to have one right here, who really knows something in this topic!

I think for the Icon I will take one of this, who don't remind to the Hakenkreuz (Its such a shame how many topics are polluted with this Nazi-♥♥♥♥. I know that the Kievan Rus signs have nothing to do with it, but for example from the 3rd link the symbol of Agni looks a bit like it :_((( )

I'm really sorry for that.

But I want to mention, that there are many really cool Icons which can be well used

Another thing would be good to know, do you have any experience in modding?

No problem, glad to help.

I don't have much experience, I tried to make my own units one time, but I did not do it correctly. If you need help with units or something, Id be glad to try again.

Ermanarich  [developer] 23 Jun, 2014 @ 2:25pm
I have not a exactly Idea, what to include in my mod, but this sounds good. When I start to mod there I'll include it, if its not too complicated ;)

Sorry, but it's wrong.Veneti were not Slavic or Illirian's ancestor,is a common mistake that all made.In Slavic language word Veneti (Wendi,Venedi or Windish) means foreigner or different language speaker. Not are therefore Slaves. They appear associated with Nemtzi or Germans, that in case refer to the Old Germans or East Germans.Veneti (in Europe there were several people with this name) are first Indoeuropeans to have colonized Europe and root of their name means conqueros, colonizers, realizers. In Celtic means first, white, choice race. They are also Upper Lusatian Culture bearer's and when they were in NorthEast Italy came in contact with indigenous people of the Camuni and Berici. With the rise of Rome they were included in the Empire as Foederati and not subjects.Veneti were famous for horse breeding, processing of iron and skilled sailors and tradesman. They suggested however the strong influence of Latin Culture that in addition of the original Venetian tradition characterzed in future Venetian civilisation, which in 8th century gave rise to the Serenissima Veneta Repubblica.(sorry for my bad english).
