Improved Hotbar

Temporary Epip tech support / discussion thread
Since Epip likely won't be on the workshop for quite some more time I figured I'd make a thread to make talking about it easier with the people who have already migrated and don't want to use the discord channel.

Feel free to use it for anything related to the mod (bugs, questions, whatever). I will also notify of new updates here.

Also gonna take this as an opportunity to answer some things that I'm sure are on new users's minds:

Q: What's the difference between v1065 and v1066?
Short answer: use v1066, it has a ton of new features and bug fixes from summer 2023 and there is no reason to use v1065.

Long answer:
Norbyte (the developer of the script extender) used to push work-in-progress stuff to a separate branch (called the devel version). Since that version of the extender could be unstable while things were being worked on, Epip versions that required it were marked as "beta" and would later become the stable version once the normal version of the script extender was updated.

v1065 was the last version of Epip for v59 of the extender; Epip v1066 is the current "beta" for v60 of the extender.

With the release of BG3 Norbyte has moved on from working on the DOS2 extender, but did not (yet) push the v60 changes from the devel version to the stable one. As such Epip v1066 has sort of been in this limbo of "beta" versions, during which I have out of tradition never actually incremented the version number (as the betas usually never lasted this long).

Since the situation is getting hilariously convoluted I will probably drop this "beta" tag soon and go back to regular releases with an increasing version number in spite of v60 not being publicly released.

Q: Why isn't there a workshop release?
The whole situation with extender v60 explained above is a large reason; there is simply no way in hell that I can release a mod here that requires that process of creating the json config file to get v60. The average workshop user will not read such instructions. Additionally, that json should be removed after v60 releases, something which yet again the average user would likely forget to do.

Another reason is that we simply don't have any good workshop assets ready (icon, screenshots with upsells, etc.).

Q: Where did this mod come from?
Epip started as a small mod for the Epic Encounters 2 overhaul; shortly after I got into UI modding and made some stuff specific for it, as well as some more general improvements like the multiple hotbars. At the time Epip was pretty coupled to EE; it wasn't possible to use it without it. Since a multiple hotbars mod was very desirable for non-EE, I took the time to release just that part as a standalone mod while I slowly worked on making the rest of Epip work without EE as well, which is where we are now.

Q: There is a discord for Epip?
There's a channel for it in the Epic Encounters discord; it's linked from the FAQ. It has a git commit bot and "nightly" builds of the mod featuring the latest stuff being worked on.

There's been 2 updates[www.pinewood.team] the past week with some good fixes; I would recommend updating if you got the mod before 21/09.

Hey Pip sorry I didn't see you had made this pinned thread. I'll put my comments from the comment sections to here.

My issue is this, I've gotten some inconsistency with the hotbar, upper bar key modifier feature, where some combination were to just work and then not anymore.
I can confirm that it's because the modifier keys shifts around, for example, I have a shift + space that works some times but then instead, I would have to press shift + alt + space to make it work.

Hey, I saw the comment but was too busy during the week to respond, sorry.
I cannot replicate the issue during some quick tests and the implementation is so simple that I don't have an idea of what could go wrong. Do your shift and alt keys work properly for anything else you use them for? Also, do you use the option to toggle world tooltips instead of needing to hold down the key?

No problem at all man, It does affect other keybinds too, like i have go sneak on shift space but it turns into shift+alt space some times.

I actually believe it may have started when i somehow broke the toggle tooltips, when i was trying to keybind several times I could no longer toggle it.

v1067 is now available: https://www.pinewood.team/epip/patchnotes/#v1067-181023

The main addition is support for container inventories for the multi-select feature, making it now well-fledged.

There's some changes to how the toggle world tooltips keybind works in the new version, though I personally could still not reproduce your issue unfortunately. You could try it nonetheless to see if it makes a difference

v1068 is now available: https://www.pinewood.team/epip/patchnotes/#v1068-261123

Consists mostly of fixes for older features, but there are also some new tooltip-related settings for people who get nauseous at the speed they appear at in the inventory UIs.

followed all the instruction on Pinewood site to install Epip and even to get the v60 of the extender. but when i move the .pak file for Epip into the mods folder and start the game, Epip does not show up in the mod list.

You likely moved it to the wrong place. Packed mods go into
\Documents\Larian Studios\Divinity Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition\Mods
The "Mods" directory where the game is installed is for unpacked mods.

I'm only entering into Divinity's modding scene now, and I took a long time trying to figure it out, until I found this topic, where to put the .pak file. I'm just using workshop's mods (and the extender). Maybe you could add this info into the instalation area of your site, the same way you put where to put the .json file
