Feature Details
Road to Grail
Much longer recruiting duration for most Bretonnia units. RoR units must be upgraded into, no longer purchase-able.

This makes high-tier recruiting almost impossible and encourages unit upgrading from basic units.


The Best Knight of the Old World
All knights stat are carefully tuned and balanced for better and meaningful upgrade, while maintaining the vanilla flavor. Unit upgrade leads to fewer entities with better health / mass / weapon damage and more expensive upkeep, e.g., grail knights has 10 entity per unit, cost 1K in upkeep.


For Honor and Glory
All Bretonnia innate traits are re-balanced to be on-par with WH2 races. Damsel's innate traits now use the same ones as Prophetess (no longer generic ones). Paladin and Damsel each get a mini-version of army / campaign skill line.

Improved the lance formation and the general lance skill. Elite peasant units such as Yeomen and RoR infantry are slightly improved to match their statue in lore. Bretonnia edits are also expanded with pros and cons.


Lady's Blessing
Low chivalry has a significant downside while high chivalry brings more benefit.

Chivalry can also be spent on instant construction or to enhance units. Most units have multiple upgrade options, and it is possible to fully equip a unit (at the cost of extra upkeep!)

Note: unit enhancement will be lost after using warband upgrade! Plan accordingly.


Shield of Civilization
To make up for the lack of recruiting, military buildings now provide recruiting rank + local defense buff + garrison.

AI Bretonnia will actively build defense buildings, making the Bretonnia homeland invincible to outsiders into late game. AI will also field lore-accurate armies: elite infantry, trebuchets, knights of realm, and relatively few questing and grails.

Last but not least, the true legendary green knight will arrive to protect the Bretonnia landmarks.


Game Balance:
The battle balance has been carefully tested against a variety of cavalry. With this mod, grail knights are top 3 cavalry in game (between Ogre Mournfang and Crushers in custom 1vs1). In campaign (legendary difficulty) it generally takes about 40-60 turns from knight errant to grail knight; faster in late game once you have lv 5 stables.

Recommended first campaign is Fay Enchantress, since she starts with one grail guardian.


Supported Mods:
There are many excellent Bretonnia mods out there, so I made efforts to adapt them under the same hood: unit size and stats are properly tuned, added skills for heroes, expanded upgrade tree, RoR upgrade, etc.

When you subscribed to any of the above, you get new units from those mods, upgrade path into them, and stat tuning under the same hood. Not using those extra mods does not affect this mod.
