More Slavery Stuff
A few ideas/feedback
I'm doing a Female Supremecy ideology playthrough with the "Status Symbol" precent, where all of the men in the colony are enslaved, and have a few bits of feedback.

  1. A colonist got pregnant (by her slave husband) and gave birth to a son. When the son turned 3 years old, he was enslaved (as their ideology believes is right). However, she now has a permanent -8 mood debuff from "Enslaved Child." It seems like this moodlet should be negated (or at least nerfed) given the Status Symbol precept.

  2. Maybe one way of addressing #1 would be adding slavery precepts for genders:

    • Slaves: Only men: Only men can be slaves. Unhappy if any female pawns are enslaved. No negative moodlets if male child is enslaved.
    • Slaves: Only women: Only women can be slaves. Unhappy if any male pawns are enslaved. No negative moodlets if female child is enslaved.
    • Slaves: All men: All men should be enslaved. Unhappy if any male pawns (that are 3+ years old) aren't enslaved. Very unhappy if any female pawns are enslaved. (Positive moodlet if male child is enslaved?) (Overrides Misandrist moodlets? Bonus moodlets for Misogynists?)
    • Slaves: All women: All women should be enslaved. Unhappy if any female pawns (that are 3+ years old) are not enslaved. Very unhappy if any male pawns are enslaved. (Positive moodlet if female child is enslaved?) (Overrides Misogynist moodlets? Bonus moodlets for Misandrist?)

  3. For the "Slavery: Status Symbol" precept, maybe it should nerf the Slave Expectations mood buffs a bit. Since the slaves know they're supposed to be status symbols, they probably shouldn't have quite as low of expectations. (Or maybe a related precept that increases their expectations by 1-2 levels?)

  4. I know there's already a mod that enables the recreation need for slaves, but it might be interesting to have a precept relating to whether or not slaves are allowed recreation.

  5. I'm not sure if this one is addressable on your end, but wanted to mention it: with the Romance on the Rim mod, pawns in a relationship with a slave aren't able to get their Romance need fulfilled. I'm able to get around this by setting the Relationship need decay to 0 in the Romance on the Rim mod options, but it would still be cool if these two mods played nice.

Just some thoughts and ideas for you. Feel free to take them or not; it's an excellent mod and I will continue to enjoy it, regardless! 🙂

I'd like to second the motion of slavery by gender precepts.

Also, I don't know how feasible this is, but perhaps Xenotypes aswell?
Highmate slaves: +1 mood each!
Highmate colonist: -8 mood
This might be tough to mod, as there are only 2 genders, and preferred xenotype isn't a precept, but an entire section of it's own, so I don't know if it's even possible.

EDIT: Perhaps a simple precept: Preferred xenotypes should be colonist, and disliked ones should be slave. That limits you to the vanilla 3 (i think) preferred xenotypes, and doesn't let you single out a specific race like highmates, but it would get the job done with a single precept.

I support SmithsonianDSP on point 1 - I had a slave woman have a baby with a colonist and got the debuff from him begin a slave at 3 years old. Would also like to see a neutralization of the debuff from the status symbol. Either in the form of a principle that specifies how to react to the enslavement of children from slaves, or just neutralize the debuff to 0. As an option to change the reaction to such an event - patch the method that reacts to the event and specify additional conditions.
SmithsonianDSP's point 2 also seemed interesting - I would like to see it implemented in the next updates of the mod.

What about the mood penalty for sharing a room with a slave? I think it would make sense to remove that for "Slavery: Status Symbol" people tend to like keeping their valuable things as close at hand as possible.
