I encountered a save file that still had the cave entrance and exit intact (unlike others where they disappeared).
If, in such a save, I use the "clear rect" command from Dev Mode to completely empty the cave (and also remove the toxic waste from it), then after attacking the cave to make it collapse, the problem does not occur.
I haven’t played enough to know if the surface getting polluted after a cave-in with toxic waste is normal behavior, but if that’s the intended mechanic, then maybe the collapses extending to the surface could be related to it.
Do you mean landslides occur on surface? Tbh I don't even know how that's possible (A responsible component does not exists for surface).
I've tried to reproduce it as you described, but none of the issues happened to me.
Can you reproduce it with only this mod installed?
Thanks for the quick response! It was probably just related to another mod, then. It’s good to know that the pollution was intended, that’s actually a cool way to balance the mod.
From what I’ve described, I think the only bug actually related to this mod is the entrance and exit disappearing.
If you find a mod, that cause those issues, I'll try to patch on my side.
