A platformer that uses first-person shooter mechanics and enemies as sprinting hurdles, that can be beaten in less than 90 minutes, but will consume hours of your time by enticing you to try levels over and over again to improve your clear times. Incredible music, impeccable artstyle and a sort of self-indulgently cringe type of dialogue writing that loops back around to being weirdly endearing. My GOTY 2022.

If you wonder why the achievement statistic shows that only 11% of the people who own this game have finished the story, it's because it turns into complete dogwater after Act 1.

If I were to sum this review up with a snarky one-liner, it would be "This expansion could have been an e-mail".

Lightfall's content is garbage. The story is filler. People have rightfully described the beginning and ending cutscene of the campaign as a single cutscene that was split in halves so that gameplay can be put in between. The characters both new and old are insufferable with their forcibly nonchalant, "quip"-laden dialogue. The patrol zone looks like it was designed by a teenager who thinks they're quirky for listening to Synthwave and the events and enemies fought in it are some of the most annoying that Destiny has to offer. The most exciting piece of exotic equipment in this expansion is an Auto Rifle that has an alt-fire that shoots grenades and was given away as the pre-order bonus. Strand, the new subclass added in this expansion, is actually fairly fun. Unsurprisingly it also strongly feels like it was not ready for the release of, and therefore cut content from, the previous expansion, "The Witch Queen".

Lightfall was so utterly terrible that it removed Destiny from the popcultural zeitgeist on the day it came out, and the only redeeming quality about it is that it forced Bungie to deliver a banger with The Final Shape, which they thankfully did.

Unfortunately this game has not been tagged with "Gambling" yet, so it managed to sneak into my recommendations.

Snowbreak is a Gacha game. It's designed to goad you into spending obscene amounts of money on random chance dice rolls to obtain new characters and weapons for said characters.
The gameplay is a mid-tier The Division rip-off that works fine-ish but comes without the looter aspect that made Division interesting, because the loot has been replaced with "microtransactions" that advertise themselves by telling you that you are guaranteed to get the item you want if you spend $200. This is obfuscated by the game asking you to purchase one currency that is converted into another currency that is then spent on tickets to use for the dice roll. There are people who will call this a "generous" level of monetization which should tell you everything you need to know about this type of game.

If you still have enough blood left in your upper body half to use your brain after seeing the large-chested anime girls on the screenshots, please use it to make the only sane decision and stay away from this game.

Team Fortress 2 is one of the best videogames ever made. It's also an an old game and has unfortunately fell victim to the passage of time. Being abandoned by its developers has caused the official servers to become overrun by bots that sabotage the game, kick human players, and passively farm items that are flooding the game's internal economy.

I am not giving this game a "not recommended" because I think it's a bad game. I am giving it that rating because I think that trying to play the game in the state it has been in for a long time will be a depressing experience.

In the past I basically reduced these Loyalist Packs to "Tip Jar"-type DLC that you should only buy for the sake of willingly spending more on Grim Dawn, the game itself, in the knowledge that you're not getting a whole lot for your money. In the wake of GD's contemporaries, Diablo 4, Path of Exile & Lost Epoch releasing wildly overpriced cosmetic bundles though, I feel like I would be underselling the Loyalist Packs by describing them as such.
5 well-made, good-looking costumes for $10, at a time where other games sell a single costume for upwards of $20, is a declaration of war, and I will gladly support the developers in their efforts.

You can tell that a LiVe SeRVice game is good and successful when it's 50% off half a year after release.

Exoprimal is awful. That is ignoring that this game is something that nobody ever wanted to begin with, which is the Gambit mode from Destiny 2 turned into a full game. It is a mortally boring grindfest with unsatisfying combat, boring music, a story that would have been better if it hadn't existed at all, disgusting monetization, and a developer team that is so desperate for gameplay ideas that they're resorting to the novelty of crossovers in their second content patch. A game that does not allow for skill expression, where matches are decided on the question of which team has more people AFK-farming playtime for battle pass XP to curb their FOMO in case that this game is ever not going to suck. A game that is so awful that I'm tempted to check the "check this box if you've received the game for free" box because I would love to trick myself into thinking that I only wasted 80 hours of my life on this trash, and not also $70.

Elephant in the room: "Seperate Ways" was included as a free addition to the PS2 version of the original RE4 and every subsequent release. If you were to tell me that you don't want to buy this because it should not cost 10 bucks, that's a completely reasonable standpoint. However: This DLC is really good.

It builds on the gameplay of Resident Evil 4 2023, which is already a pretty good, albeit a bit generic-feeling third-person shooter, and rectifies its shortcomings by expanding it with Ada's signature abilities. The grappling hook melee attacks and especially the upgrade that lets her pull the shield from enemies make her feel much more unique to play than Leon and brings back a bit more character to the game. In the original game Ada was a reskin of Leon without the ability to upgrade her guns at the merchant, now she feels more unique to play which makes Seperate Ways feel like it has a place as an expansion.
I was expecting a rehash of its levels, but instead the game uses a lot of new environments and branches previous areas out into new zones. For example the forge and mine areas of the base game are intertwined with the sewage system and Ada infiltrates the village cathedral by rope swinging along the cliffside by the village.

Beating Seperate Ways grants access to purchaseable costumes for Ada, Luis and Wesker and lets you swap out their costumes for both the main game and SW. Expanding the "frame" of the game like this has me excited for what modders are going to do with it

It's alright. World of Assassination offers lots of content and is absolutely worth it at full price imo. Hitman 1 and 3 levels are generally great but Hitman 2 has some of the worst levels in the entire franchise. 1+2 level masteries also have some of the most boring unlocks though.

The original Resident Evil 4 is such an utterly fantastic title that even when you make a garbage remake that ruins every single aspect about it it's still handily the best game of this entire decade
