disclaimer: this is a negative review, however, that could change as the game develops

I really like this game. For those who were victims of the old "Space Base DF-9" genocide many years ago, this could be your redemption. But I would hold off for now:

The problem with the current game is that the single most important resource which is quintessential in building literally anything of use--the Techblock--isn't made available until the very end of the research tree. In addition, the factories needed to construct the Techblock require Techblocks for construction. To make it worse, Techblocks are one of the rarest items to find will salvaging or trading. This is an irl three-gears problem

Fix the Techblock issue then this game would be unmatched

The most toxic, n-word using community outside of COD

Doesn't count as perfect game on Steam achievements

Filled with a bunch of toxic, under-aged (below 13) kids who report you for "sexual harassment" if you use teleport as your movement method.

Easy to get banned by children who are too young to be playing the game anyways

Overall awesome game

Even after 5 years, this game still offers a unique fast-pace experience

Recommend for the zombies, but I would still wait until this game is on sale. The nostalgia does not warrant the price tag.

Fun and challenging space flight sim. There are a few drawback, however, that I wish I knew before getting this game:

• You will grind. As a new, inexperienced player, it will be a long time before you will feel like you have enough money to "play the game"
  
• The developers did not intend for you to have friends. You cannot share money to help boost your friend, you cannot earn money together while mining, trading, etc. and you cannot transport our noob friend to your home station.
  
• You will often spend 30 or more minutes jumping just to spend 2 minutes at a station and go somewhere else.
  
• GRIND. I know I already said this, but you will grind. Once you have money, you'll want to upgrade your stuff by engineering parts. That means flying halfway across the galaxy or relogging for 5 hours a day for a few days, hoping RNJesus will bless you with the resources you need to upgrade your ship.

Don't let the DEMO fool you. The full version of the game is far from playable.

I recommended following this game as it could be worth something in the future.

• Not a lot of replayability
  
• Only goals are Steam achievements
  
• Late game is really boring (not designed to handle rapid population growth

Could easily be one of the greatest story games out their except for the numerous find-the-pixel puzzles that c*ck-block progression. Almost need a guide to complete this.

All-in-all, epic graphics and music. It truly looks like a movie. Not to mention the dope Alien-esk art style.
